Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Wow Laurie! First off that mom so needed to be fixed LONG before she had that many kids. I feel SO sorry for those babies having to be born with all those issues because that mom was so selfish. That is just so heartbreaking but lucky for them that they were able to get such an awesome person like you to take them in!!!! You sound like great people to take all those kids in and as I said before I am in total awe of people like you that can do that because I know it is a tough tough task. I know that esp drug babies are really hard to handle with the constant crying and sensitivity issues. You are truly an angel!!! I am glad that woman is FINALLY fixed and cannot bring any more chrildren into this world that will be in more pain!

On another note they said on the news that the case of flu here at our local school was confirmed to be swine flu so it is now def here in our town! :( I just hope it doesn't spread! They have closed the school down for the rest of the week but like I said half our swim team goes to that school so I hope that none of the kids on the team were exposed to that kid or kids last week and then have it because I guess one kid got it last monday and then 6 more got sick last week and they are now being tested as well. So ALL last week when we were at swim the kids could have been exposed. UGH!

Anyway I guess it just remains to be seen how much more of it will be roaming around. Pretty scary though.

Anyway 1 more hour and then I have to go pick up the girls. Then it is off to dinner tonight. Looking forward to some good seafood! YUM! Of course I am sure you seafood haters are going YUCK! ;)

Anyway see ya later!

What is exactly swine flu and what's the big hubub on the news?

Scary news about the swine flu...... hope they can get this contained QUICK!!!
I hope all the kids from the swim team will stay healthy.

Keep us updated!!!!

I have not read back yet...but I did see Kelly's post. That is scary. The good news is that the U.S. cases have not been deadly. Still scary.

So I'm back with Ayden from the Dr's. It was QUICK!!! I had him go in covering his mouth and nose with his shirt and not touch ANYTHING. We were literally in and out in less than 10 minutes thank goodness! So as Kelly said, it's confirmed to be in our town now. I am so nervous. That school is less than a mile from my house. When I emailed Ayden's T-Ball coach to tell him he wouldn't be at the game tonight he emailed me back asking if he had any relations to this school. I'm thankful he's being so cautious about it. He has asked parents if they have kids at the school or if they've had contact with anyone from the school to not attend the game tonight. The coach of the other team is doing the same. This is just so scary......it's like right in my own backyard now. It makes me not want to go to work, not want to send Ayden anywhere.

As for the Dr's...the nurse said she did see a couple of patches on his throat so we did a quick throat culture and should have the results by tomorrow morning at the latest.

Mmm. I'll join your club, I LOVE seafood! ;)

It's very scary. And very real. And I always thought those people walking around on the news with masks were just being dramatic. :sad2:

Hope everything in Ayden's tests come back okay.

It is very scary when it's confirmed right down the road from you!!!

I'm glad you were able to get in & out so quickly at the drs office....nothing like being scared to go there! Hopefully Ayden will get to feeling better soon.

Sending good vibes Ayden's way :goodvibes I had my tonsils out when I was 16 so I know all about ouchie throats! No good! :sad2:

Well, hopefully by tomorrow you'll have answers as to what it is, and can get some meds to help the little guy feel better.

Quiet day here today. Guess everyone is recovering from their busy weekends. I know the MA girls are!! ;)

Hi everyone!

Seems quiet today. I saw lots of posts about school work and all I can say is . I have some to do to.

Laurie you and your husband are amazing for everything you are doing for your children.

Kelly & Janelle I can only imagine how scared you both are about the swine flu. I'm supposed to fly in a couple of weeks and I'm tempted to get one of those masks for when I'm in the airports and on the airplanes.

As for Mother's Day, I'm moving it this year for our house. I have to leave on Mother's Day for work so I told Josh that I'm moving it to the following week. ;)

Sounds like you all had a great time at MA. Can't wait to see the pics and TR(s).

I'm headed to Raine's T-Ball game. I'll be on later (I hope) to see whatelse is going on.

Talk to you all soon.

Steph

So I just got a call that all T-Ball games and practices are cancelled the rest of this week due to the swine flu. I just found out from Ayden's school that there are older siblings that attend the school that confirmed the student tested positive for this. I have talked it over with Ayden's dad and we have chosen to keep Ayden home the remainder of the week to see what happens.
I don't know if I'm being too over the top or what...but the panic has set in. I don't even want to go to work myself.

Glad you were able to get Ayden in and out so quick!! I hope he starts feeling better soon. I know with all this flu stuff going around the LAST place I would want to be is a docs office! I know what you mean about this flu! As I said half our swim team goes to that school and even though they sent us that e-mail telling us that none of the affected kids are on the actual team I don't know that any of them might have brothers or sisters on the team or may have been AROUND any of the kids on the team. I am just glad we aren't going to practice tonight cuz of Shelby's birthday and hope that none of the kids come down with it. It almost makes me not want to take them to practice this week! I know that sounds bad but it is scary!

I had a LONG talk with the girls today about washing their hands and if they see kids that are coughing or who are looking or acting sick to stay away from them etc. But it is so hard with kids. UGH!

I guess we will just have to wait and see. Anyway I am off to Shelby's birthday dinner.

See you all later!

You're right...it is so hard to make kinds understand the importance of washing their hands. Keep me posted if you hear of anyone from the swim team coming down with it. Ayden's T-ball coach said they had a call in to the County Health Dept to see if they should cancel practice for the remainder of the week or not. I have a feeling they might since there are many kids in the league from that school.

Hope you guys have a fun at dinner...have some Red Lobster Cheesy bread for me!!!! yummmmmmy

Hugs to you and good wishes that Ayden's test results are good.

It is a scary thing and since I work in the travel business we received a warning today because all of us travel a lot and we have offices in South America and a lot of hotels in Mexico. I am glad though that my company can keep this in persepective - even though this will not help us financially they are first and foremost concerned about the employees!

All non-essential travel to Mexico be avoided. Other countries (including the EU) have suggested that non-essential travel to North America be avoided. Clearly, this epidemic will affect the travel industry at a time when we’re already challenged by a recessionary economy. However, our more immediate concern is for the health and well-being of our employees.

Hi Stacie! We're leaving DL on Friday. I'm not sure what the plans are. I think I'm just going to get my fun card, shop, we'll get something to eat and hit the road. My parents want me home early since it's my birthday, but who knows what time we'll leave. Possibly the mid afternoon? I would love to meet up for a hello!! :goodvibes

Darn. We will probably miss each other. My DD doesn't get out of school till 3, unless she has softball practice, then its 5. So we won't get there till after that time. Probably get there in time for dinner, some rides, and we are planning on hearing the Rumble King perform. Saw them a few weeks ago and James and I loved them.

I know lots are hoping for a full trip report, but I just don't have it in me. I am still trying to finish up the 2009 Ladies trip report (look for that later tonight) as well as other stuff. Sorry. I will post some pics though.

The bummer was that since we couldn't have our cameras for the quests, I didn't take as many pics as I would have liked. I got none of my team, and I would have loved to take some of us trying to figure out the quests.

I did get one more at dinner.....

The whole day was so much fun. I can't wait till the next one.

And Cheryl was an amazing hostess. She opened her house to us all and made us feel very welcomed. Even if I had four more minutes till my alarm went off.

And it was great seeing Wendy and Dawn again. We are so pumped for our Vegas trip.
