Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

hahahaha the new clothes sound great!!! This will probably sound strange but Mother's Day is hard for me. It makes me feel like a single person would feel on Valentines Day. I think it's since my divorce that I have felt like that. My ex husband used to always have Ayden scribble a card for me, and my stepdaughter always made me a card too. It's just different now. Chris has helped Ayden color me a picture and such, but I've never gotten that lavish Mother's Day of breakfast in bed or gifts. I know that's not what the day is all about....but the day just seems to make me sad for some reason. Both of my grandma's have passed away and I miss them both soooooo very much. My mom lives close, but she just sees it as another day. I always get her a card but she has never gotten me one. Heck my birthday was in February and I never got a card. Boy I really bring a whole different shade of gray to this group don't I? I feel like such a downer. :sad1:
Aww Janelle, I'm sorry. My Grandma is really getting up there in age, and she lives in Michigan so I don't get to see her very often. She was here for 3 days in February and I remember thinking when she left to go back home, that was probably the last time I'd see her.

Chris sounds like a great guy, the way you said he was helping with the cleaning and such, but sometimes even great guys need a hint. Do you think if you dropped little hints about what you want for Mother's Day that he and Ayden would do something for you?

In my house it should be called Mother's Morning, not Mother's Day because even though they'll do the breakfast and stuff, after that it's right back to "Mom, I need you to wash this" and "Mom, can you do this or that for me?" LOL

Since your mom lives close, maybe you can call her and make plans for some shopping and lunch or something. I'm sorry about not getting a card for your b-day. Does she just not do cards? My in-laws NEVER, I mean ever, gave cards until I joined the family and started giving cards for every occasion. LOL They they sloooooowly, started doing it too.

And do NOT worry about being a downer. Sometimes you just gotta vent.

Oh gosh Beth...don't read my Mother's Day post then!!!

(Too late. ;) )

About Disneyland...I could sit on the porch on Mainstreet for the day and be thrilled. As long as you promise to drop off some Gibson girl, and a churro every once in awhile. :)
I could too!!! I love to people watch and Disney is a great place to do that at. Ruben thinks I'm weird to want to just sit there and soak up the atmosphere but to me it's fun. Add a churro and it's even better. :thumbsup2

Anyway I know this swine flu thing is really scary. I know that school too! Half the kids on our swim team go there as well as my entire soccer team excluding my kids! Some of those kids go to our church and we JUST had a group go to Mexico for a mission over spring break!!! It really is scary. We JUST got an e-mail from the swim team just now saying that SO far none of the kids being tested for the flu are on our swim team but if ANY of the kids have the symptoms to please NOT come to practice. GREAT!!!!

I just hope I can get some positive answers!
Oh wow Kelly, that's pretty close to home for you too then! Yikes. I guess you just never know. I mean, it really can strike anywhere. It's a concern here because we are such a tourist destination. Tons of people come here monthly from all over.

Good luck at your appt. I hope you get the answers you want.

Hmmmm, wasn't Sarah taking a cruise to Mexico soon. I wonder if this will effect cruise travel.

You know we were all told to cover our mouths when coughing and sneezing, but have you ever thought about it? If you cover your mouth with your hand, then everything you touch after that is coated with your germs. There has been a big push over the last few years to teach people to cough into their sleeve (bring the inside of your elbow up to your mouth). Research has shown that this greatly reduces the spread of germs. Your inside elbow doesn't touch many door knobs, rails, money, etc or shake hands. OK, that's the end of my community nursing speech!
I've taught my kids to do that. Even the twins will sneeze into their elbows. It just makes more sense. Why sneeze into your hand and then go around touching everything?? Ick!
When ever they do forget and sneeze into their hand, I always tell them to then go wash their hands.

I don't want to be paranoid, but if you can do little things like that, why not, kwim?
(LOL on the arm band!)

I told my DH I wanted a trip to DL for Mother's Day, but rolled his eyes and ignored me. My parents will be out of town at my brother's for the weekend and my MIL now lives in Michigan, so our traditional multi-generational mothers' day brunch won't be happening. I guess I need to think of something to suggest...spa treatment? I still would like DL, but I unfortunately that's just too much to ask. :sad1:
Where in MI is your MIL? That's where all of my side of the family is. Northern MI. I was born there, but grew up in SoCal. In 2004 we moved back to MI but only lasted 3 years there before I got sick of the snow and we moved here to Vegas.

I think a spa treatment sounds pretty darn nice. ;)

Thanx everyone....Shyann is fine today....usually she pukes for about 6-8 hrs after getting eggs (which we try really hard to avoid...but dear Addy wanted to feed her sister). She slept good last night & was raring to go this morning.

I had to share some exciting news!!!!! Her twin, Michayla took off across the room........ON HER FEET!!!!!! The girls are very delayed but Shyann started walking in November. Michayla was just starting to let go of the furniture & free-stand for a few seconds......I looked over & she was crossing the front room......I started crying!!!!!! She had to cutest smile on her face.....she was so excited & proud!! I wish I could have captured it on film.....but here's a pic (not the best) of her taking her first steps today (she took close to 15 steps......from only walking around the chairs holding on)

Aw Beth, I hope you got some good memories in with your Grandma. It's funny in a way....as sad as I get sometimes when I think about my grandma, I still sit there with a smile on my face when I think back to things we did.

Chris really is a great guy...I found gold when I found him. I could drop the hints I guess, but I'm the type that never wants to ask for anything for myself. That and....well you'd just think they'd do it because they want to, kwim? Not that he doesn't, I just think he doesn't really know what to do. For Father's Day Ayden drew him a picture and I got him a really nice card about what a wonderful role model he is to Ayden. We'll see how things go......

As for my mom....she'd rather just stay home and work in her yard. Since my dads days off are only on the weekends that's pretty much all they do. They are busy bodies lol

The funny thing is...I still get birthday and mother day cards from my ex in-laws. Honestly...that is even sad for me. They are such wonderful people and I miss them a lot. I still keep in touch with them.....but it's obviously not like it used to be.

Well I'm going to get off of here for awhile and get Ayden into a bath.
Talk to you all soon . :grouphug:

WOOO HOOOOO How awesome is that!! Way to go Michayla!!! And caught on camera too! :thumbsup2

Hey everyone!

Been busy catching up on homework today. Have a huge project due tomorrow, and I just submitted my first copy. I need my instructor to approve it, then I need to finish it off before 10PM tomorrow. I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator.

I hope to get come pics and report about the MA later tonight when I have a break.

Courtney - what are your plans on friday for you B-Day? DBF and I (maybe DD too) are planning on hitting the parks in the late afternoon and evening. Thought we could maybe meet up for a quick hello since you will be there celebrating.

Hope everyone has a great day! I got to finish some other homework before I head out the door.

Whoo hooo for DL tomorrow!! Have a great time! :wizard:

Thank you, Beth! I will! I'm happy to get out of work! :woohoo:

That would be a great idea if they did...I have no idea though.
I'm sooo thankful Ayden goes to a very small private school.....his school will really be on alert. Everyone knows when anyone is on vacation or ill etc. That gives me a little peace of mind. It's the things we can't control that I worry about.

That's really good. That's how it was when I went to school too, it was small and private so everyone knew everything!

Anyway. Too depressing. We need happy thoughts. :wizard: :rotfl: Maybe Courtney will sneak me in to Disneyland with her...... :rolleyes1

Everyone can come! Let's GO!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Thank you....very excited about this.....especially since we were told after she was born that she may never walk! We always held out more hope for her than the medical professionals...... that's why her middle name is now Hope! :cloud9:

Hey guys! I have not had a chance to read back at all...so I thought I would peek in and say hey!:hippie:

I hope you all are doing well and I am still waiting on reports from the MA chicas. I read something about Stitch booty. I need pics.:3dglasses

Just checking in real quick. My computer is still broken and I'm actually at the library checking my email and such :headache:.

I had a great time at Cheryl's on Saturday night and really needed a night out with out the older kids . I had a great time seeing Cheryl, Michelle, Stacie, Amy and Wendy again. And really enjoyed meeting Dawn for the 1st time. She's very sweet.

Little Churo was so cute in person. I thought he'd be smaller.

So is anyone doing a TR for MA?? I'd like to get the details.

Well I miss posting on the boards and hopefully everyone is well & I haven't missed too much.

I'll talk to you all soon!

Later

Hi Stacie! We're leaving DL on Friday. I'm not sure what the plans are. I think I'm just going to get my fun card, shop, we'll get something to eat and hit the road. My parents want me home early since it's my birthday, but who knows what time we'll leave. Possibly the mid afternoon? I would love to meet up for a hello!! :goodvibes

Just keep on having faith - even when medical professionals say the opposite. My son has hemophilia and we were always told it's lifelong and will always affect him. Just recently (about a year ago now - my son is 13), new genetic tests were done and he apparently has an extremely rare mutation of the gene that causes his hemophilia (there are now 13 known cases in Canada - including my son and my cousin's two sons) and his clotting factor levels are expected to increase to normal levels after puberty. This was completely unheard of previously, so miracles can totally happen :thumbsup2

I won't say too much since Heather hasn't seen it, but I watch it too and I loved last night's episode!! :rotfl: I was cracking up at the end. So much drama. lol
And the scenes with Jesse and Clint....... :rotfl2: Jesse wasn't holding anything back. popcorn::

I loved it!! I was falling asleep and then well ya'know..I started waking up...

For some reason Jesse just makes me laugh. Its like he just doesn't care. He will say what he wants. I wish he would wear something more dressy than flannel shirts at the boardroom.

Speaking of Mother's Day, it's coming up in less than two weeks now. I bought some cards over the weekend to send to my mom in MI and to my MIL in CA.

Anyone have any special plans for their moms, or their Grandma's or themselves?

I told Ruben I didn't want him to get me anything. I bought myself some new clothes and shoes over the weekend, and also some last weekend come to think of it :rolleyes1, so I said that's plenty.
Plus I'd rather save money for June when the Divas are here. :cool1:

So here it will be the usual breakfast in bed, flowers, and homemade cards. Which is fine with me. :goodvibes

I use to get breakfast in bed. My mom & I are not close at all. I send her a card & flowers.

Yep, single mom on Mother's Day is like a single person on Valentines Day.
Last year I bought myself tickets to the Mariners game & went with a friend. This year, I am going to Vegas  :cool1:

The boys make me cards. We usually go to lunch with their grandparents or their cousins come & we picnic at the park.

Wow!! That's fantastic!!!! Wondeful for your son!!!! :goodvibes :flower3:

I know, I'm waiting for fuzzy Stitch butt pictures!

Laurie~ That is great that she started walking! I am glad she is better after her egg fiasco yesterday. She has a great middle name!

Kelly~ Happy Birthday to Shelby!

Laurie~ That is great that she started walking! I am glad she is better after her egg fiasco yesterday. She has a great middle name!

Thank you.....a bit confusing with ALL my kids..... it was her twin that had the egg issue......
And thanx about the middle name..... it was fun that we got to name them since we got them right from the hospital....their birth names weren't the best & we started calling them by our names from the beginning....it just took 22 months for it to become legal!!
Michayla's is Hope & Shyann's is Faith.......Adaleah's middle name got changed for the adoption as well....hers is Grace. :upsidedow

By the way the birthnames were: Faith Kathryn (Shyann's)...not super bad, just didn't mean anything to us but poor Michayla's was Justice Muriel~ :scared1:

Hello ladies! Just checking in on my way out the door for a Costco run. I'm anxiously awaiting a MA report! Sounds like a fantastic time was had by all!
