Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

I have fibromyalgia too and it REALLY bothers me during season changes.

For my kidneys, my doc gives me a couple of things for it. One is potassium citrate. It's a supplement that I take twice a day, but if I don't drink an abundance of fluid constantly it isn't guaranteed to work 100% of the time. I also take a diuretic for high blood pressure so I'm sure that might affect the absorption of the fluid ? (doctors, nurses or nutritionists?) Another is Toradol (sp?) I can only take it if I feel like I'm dying and for 5 days max because it'll give me stomach ulcers if I use it for any longer. The other is loritab. I have chronic pain and have to take extremely low doses of it frequently, but if I have to take more than 1/2 of a tablet per day the list of side effects are lengthy and include but aren't limited to drowsiness, forgetfulness, being a complete idiot, moodiness, and becoming an erratic grouch. It also makes my tummy hurt if I take it a lot. It works miracles though in times of desperation.

I'm done boring you all with my medical mumbo jumbo.

On a happier note... I'm finally back at my apartment! *huge sigh* I can finally sleep in my own bed without two dogs trying to spoon me from either side. Down side: I have no groceries and my maintenance required light is on in my car because I need an oil change. That'll have to wait until tomorrow. So that was an excuse to order my favorite pizza! I got a 12" cheese, green pepper, roasted red pepper, and feta with red sauce and a salad with a 6 pack of sprite! Now if you'll excuse me, I have some delicious business to attend to at my dining table! :upsidedow

I have fibro too-have had it since I was 18. A LONG time--before most people even knew anything about it. (cause I'm OLD) We'll have to start a sub-thread of Divas with Fibromyalgia . . . .

On a crappier note.... I fear that I'm beginning to have kidney problems again. I don't think I have mentioned it here before, but I might have.... I get kidney stones.
OMG, you poor thing. I had a kidney stone once. It was a about three years ago, I woke up early in the morning with the worst pain in my side. I thought I was dying. I went to the ER right away and was in so much pain. Worse then labor pains!!
Luckily they gave me some pain killers and it actually passed while I was in the hospital. Teeniest little thing. I could not believe that's what was causing such excruciating agony.

Did anyone else think that Taylor Hicks sounded good last night???
I did. He's looking good too.

Hi everyone....just checking in.

For those of you who have read my posts about my recent difficulties in parenthood, I have good news. We had a great evening and morning with my son.
That is good news Sarah.

But we should at least see if she can come cuz it would be like our own little mini meet. :)
How fun for you guys! :yay: I hope it works out. I think it's neat to plan little meets.

I love the monthly get togethers Jane, Amy and I try to do. :goodvibes We've been lucky enough to meet up three times this month. Once with Michelle, once with Stacie, and once just us three. :thumbsup2

Yes, I live in the Greater Vancouver area (we're about 1.5 hours out, depending on traffic). I used to work downtown at the hospital and it was a nightmare commute - no more :thumbsup2 I think Linda is here in June too - that's a great time to come, so much to do.

I am looking forward to it. I've never been and I've had this hotel group for almost 5 years...it's about time! I think I'll come for the weekend because I am meeting them on Monday. DBF wants to come too. Would be a nice get-a-way weekend and some of the expense work can pay for!

Yes! I forgot to mention it. We watch it on Monday nights. Oh my! What little class was shown, but it was entertaining. I just don't get why Melissa went sooooo crazy! I mean, come on, did she really think she was going to win? She was fired and given the same respect from Trump that everyone else gets. It was a completely white trash moment in her life to act like that. What does she do for a living anyway? :sad2: I bet Joan will be back though...I'm sure she's not done saying all she has to say yet!

I couldn't stop laughing! They were so both so out there stomping around and yelling at everyone. I couldn't figure out what Melissa wanted at first but she wanted all of her things becasue I guess they normally 'leave' for the camera's and then come back to get there things. She and Joan were so funny!:rotfl:

Joan & Melissa are on Ellen today & I am stuck at work. I really want to watch it!!!
I am not sure what Melissa does besides, interview for the TV guide channel & have a famous mom. **Doesn't Joan look scary??**

Thanks for the heads up about Ellen I'll have to make a point of watching if I can! Joan and Melissa both look scary to me!! And really what does Melissa do besides red carpet interview?

I thought the way Joan & Melissa behaved was ridiculous!! What a pair of spoiled snots......I couldn't believe how Joan went on about this show wasn't about winning money....ummmmm hello??? Isn't that the only goal of this show? Winning money to give to charity.....I felt she really slapped the faces of all the charities involved..... Both of their behaviors were tacky...just goes to show me why I didn't like them before & really have no respect for them now!!

I'm a reality show junkie!!!!!! I can't help but get lost in these shows......most of them comical but a few actually warrant some talent.

I agree with you about Joan and Melissa - totally spoiled, think only of themselves, type of women. But I can't help but watch them - it's like a train wreck!!

I am a reality show junkie too! DBF just shakes his head and then proceeds to watch with me!:rotfl: I don't think he realized what I really watched before moving here with him! My favorite though is Amazing Race!! Margie & Luke are from my home town of Littleton, Colorado. Fun to watch them! Travelocity is owned by the same company that owns my company so every week we get emailed questions about the show and they award prizes! I've never won because they draw the winning answers but it's fun trying! I do have a Travelocity gnome though from selling Travelocity to my hotels! He's cute! And when we were in WDW during the Flower and Garden show I bought a Mickey garden gnome. He is so cute!

I watch America's Next Top Model too...... I was sad to see who left last night (not saying just in case you haven't seen this weeks episode....we DVR a lot of stuff......)

Once again me too! Just because she is shorter than the others...not fair!

Good morning ladies. :wave2:

Let's see here......

For those who like to text, so do I. I just got a new phone about 5-6 days ago. It's an enV2, and I really like it! LOVE having a full keyboard. Plus, it's a pretty phone as far as cell phones go. Mine is a maroon-wine color. :thumbsup2
Hey we have the same phone! And I love it for texting. Texting is the only way I can keep up with everyone back in Colorado...except for my parents of course...they don't text!!:confused3

Just tossing a planning question out there.......
anyone like the idea of meeting up (other than meals and tours) at a certain time to do certain rides? I know there are some ladies who love that idea, but was wondering how does everyone else feel about that? The ride(s) would be decided ahead of time so we don't waste a ton of time doing the "what do you want to do?" "I don't know, what do you want to do" thing.

Any suggestions or opinions on that?

I'm in! I will do anything but that scare-the-crap-out-of-you-used-to-be-called-Sunwheel unless I am in a non-moving car. DBF talked me into riding it last summer because I had done everything else that scared me Maliboomer and Mission Space (not the chicken side) at WDW. I was like this :scared1: the entire time...I could not wait to get off!

On a crappier note.... I fear that I'm beginning to have kidney problems again. I don't think I have mentioned it here before, but I might have.... I get kidney stones. It's a metabolic thing. They just randomly form, then stress triggers them to start trying to pass for some reason. Well I had issues about a month ago and now its flaring up again. At least I'll have 2 weeks before I begin 8 more weeks of summer school (less intense than this semester then I'm officially DONNNNNNNNNNNNNNE!)

I'm convinced it's Indiana that gives me kidney stones and California will cure me of my ills. Sunshine and ZERO humidity here I come! :goodvibes :flower3:

Ouch...I'm sorry to hear that! My sister has kidney stones and she she has a horrible time when they flair up!

I am sure the California weather will cure everything and make you smile! I know it does me! I am from Colordado and I love the California weather!

I have fibro too-have had it since I was 18. A LONG time--before most people even knew anything about it. (cause I'm OLD) We'll have to start a sub-thread of Divas with Fibromyalgia . . . .

It's definately becoming more common these days....... do you take anything for your pain? I haven't been on anything for about 2 yrs....no insurance & can't find a decent dr.... makes for very long days. Especially after lugging around the twins (25 & 27lbs)......
It just kinda sucks..... take meds to ease the pain or just deal with it.... frustrating that we can't do something to make it better.

I think that's a good idea :thumbsup2

Yes, I like doing group rides. I think planning them for after certain events, like we did with Small World and PFF, works best. So we can plan them for after meals and such.

I love Steph's idea of doing the Animation Academy as a group and then maybe heading over to ToT for a group ride and photo.

:thumbsup2

Totally - that sounds like a plan. Whereabouts in the hotel/hotels you are meeting?

I've been meaning to ask...how do some of you have the changing pictures in your siggie? Did you create them on photobucket and just paste the code?

Thanks for the heads up about Ellen I'll have to make a point of watching if I can!
I just started watching it, and right off the bat, they start with a skit of them poking fun at themselves. I was cracking up! :rotfl2:
Haven't seen the interview yet, so not sure what they'll say, but they are funny.

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just spent the last hour catching up! We served a yummy Taco Salad to our Thursday lunch group today, and it went over very well. I came home and had some myself, and it was very tasty, I must say!

On a sad note, my BFF's granda died today. She was in her 90s and had been sick for quite a while, but it's still sad for the family.

Believe not the kind of late night date I want either!!
I like kind that involves dinner & wine......
not the kind that means studying my butt off!!

Bridgette- that was funny! Last summer was the first time I had mowed the lawn in years! I feel your pain!

I've never, ever mowed a lawn!

My DD came home with homework that involved the use of centiliters and milliliters. Ummm, yeah. I had to Google those as I'd never heard of them. :sad2:
Do you remember when we were in school, and we just had to learn the metric system, because we would be switching over any day now? I'm still waiting.........

Welcome Caitlyn! My name is Tina, and I have that same blanket!

I think this is a great idea! Since we only did a couple of the group meals, we didn't have a ton o "group time" in the park.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Some suggestions from me would be:

Pirates
Small World
Big Thunder Mountain
Indiana Jones
Toy Story Mania

Oh and we should get a group to do Animation Academy

steph

I love these ideas, Steph! Especially the Animation Academy!!!!!!

Well, I'm off to visit with my friend, to see what I can do for the family.
See you later!

I WaNt to LiVe in WoNkA LaNd
For reaLs!

Me too!! Me too!!! Of course, I'd probably end up at the juicer like Violet...remember when she turns into a berry?

As long as it doesn't turn into a committee meeting, you KWIM?

Totally want to do the Animation Academy as a group. Total Hoot!!!

Interesting theory. Sorry to hear about the stones....never had them but was with a good friend playing volleyball when one started to move on her. Poor thing, I have never seen someone in such ACUTE pain.

Hi everyone....just checking in.

For those of you who have read my posts about my recent difficulties in parenthood, I have good news. We had a great evening and morning with my son. He had a nap at daycare yesterday and I wonder if that is what did it. Even though I had to take him to urgent care last night (his eyes were itching really bad and his nose was running like a sive...looks like he may have hayfever) he behaved very well and was nice to the nurse and doctor...he was good when we got home, went to bed without complaint and got up this morning on his own and announced he was going to go get his clothes on for the day and make his bed. It was fabulous and gives me hope that he really is learning and really does have it in him to be the great kid I remember from before he turned 3!

Sarah

Yeah!!! See, about the time you are about to turn in your motherhood membership card, things become jolly!!

I have fibro too-have had it since I was 18. A LONG time--before most people even knew anything about it. (cause I'm OLD) We'll have to start a sub-thread of Divas with Fibromyalgia . . . .

Ugh Cheryl...what did they call it way back in the dark ages when you were 18? Joint Evil? Quit saying you are old...I am just behind you with my 95 year old knees!!!

Oh, and I haven't responded to other posts, as you may remember, I am the FREAK without T.V. sevice!!! So, never seen most of the shows mentioned, and have only seem a couple Idols over the years!! Leaves me without a lot to add!!!

Hope everyone is having a swell Thursday!! I am usually super jazzed cheery on Thursdays as I don't have to work again until Saturday!! Hurray for me!!!

I take Mobic--which is an arthritis medicine--and Tramadol. When it gets really bad a vicodin or two. and Advil/Aleve/whatever's around. and then take tummy protection meds.

Tina--sorry about your BFF's Grandma!

Is it 5 yet??? :rotfl: I'm so ready to go home. I've been training this new lady all week and she's driving me crazy. She used to work here but she quit becasue her husband got sick. The VP must of liked her because they hired her back even though we have no need for her. I hope they don't take away some of my duties. I don't always have enough to do as it is. Right now they have her trainging with different people (this week and next is my turn). They say she will act as a back up if anyone calls in or goes on vacation or something but my co-worker and I handle it just fine between the two of us now. :confused3

Chocolate buggies? :scared1::scared1::scared1: That is just plain feece. That line was for January.

Need to get ready for my day at school with my DD Becky. I'm going to do a lesson on Henri Matisse. The kids are going to collage a bunch of different shapes and figures onto paper. They first have to cut a freehand shape of themselves, and go from there. It should be fun.

Have a great day!:flower3:

Hey Melody!

I hope you had fun with your DD doing a lesson on Matisse! That sounds like a fun project!

Good morning ladies!!

riseshine.jpg

I feel that.

You guys and your convos LOL. But I must add that cheese curds ARE yummy. My ex used to live in Idaho and there was a cheese factory near Boise and every time we would go up to visit the in-laws we would stop on the way home and grab a few bags. They were REALLY good. When you make cheese it goes into curds first and then they push all the curds together in these molds and that is how cheese is made. The press it together and get all the moisture out and then it turns into one big block of cheese. But anyway they had like plain or garlic or whatever but it was really good and we called it squeaky cheese cuz when you ate it it was kind of squeaky. It's kind of hard to explain but it is really good. Not real strong and very mild and if you DO like cheese at all I think you would like it. It IS really good and although it sounds weird it is yummy!

It is actually supposed to rain here THIS Saturday! Crazy! Plus Lynn is actually saying she is going to come down on Sunday to "pick up some clothes" which I don't know how I feel about that. We have not seen her since she ran away and I am STILL not too happy about the whole situation.

My advice-----Just SMILE. Even if it kills you. Do it for your DH.

The the Swiss Village Cheese Factory! I remember going there as a kid. That place makes some goooood cheese, man. The squeeky cheese is so good! I love the sqeeee sound it makes when you bite into it. So yummy! I am not sure that place is even around anymore. It is out in the sticks. I never go that way these days.

Yes! I forgot to mention it. We watch it on Monday nights. Oh my! What little class was shown, but it was entertaining. I just don't get why Melissa went sooooo crazy! I mean, come on, did she really think she was going to win? She was fired and given the same respect from Trump that everyone else gets. Good Morning all!

A quiet day planned here. I have to drag the boys into work so that I can have my TB test read. I'm going to start working 2 days a week next week.
I haven't worked since before our girls only trip back in March. I don't want to go back!

Talk with you all later.

I think Melissa Rivers talks sh** about celebs for a living on E!. She is a winner. :thumbsup2Not.

I hope you have a good day with your little guys. ooo, TB test. That is no fun.

Laurie, I agree. He might be too out there for some.

Capri, good luck on selling your cars and getting a new one. We need a new one so bad, but the thought of a monthly car payment just kills me.

Car payments are the debil! When we got our SUV we were making 3x more than we are now. We struggle to make our payment every month. I cannot wait to get rid of it.

Good luck, Capri!:cheer2:Sell them cars, girl!

I have never mowed either. DH does or my brother comes over to do it.

I think Melissa Rivers talks sh** about celebs for a living on E!. She is a winner. :thumbsup2Not.

Melissa also for a while sold a silver jewelry line on QVC--her Mom's line was so popular and then Melissa came in with these really junky things--no wonder it didn't last long.

Wouldn't you think with Joan's resources Melissa would have gone to college or something? What is it with these celeb's kids that think Mom and Dad are famous so they should be too?

Yummmmm. Triple Ginger Gingersnaps from Trader Joe's . . . . .

Adam is going to make it big no matter what. He is already an "Idol". He played the part of Fiero in L.A.'s Wicked. He's my #1 pick, and I don't care about the gay factor. He's got mad, mad talent.

I love Danny, even without the sad backstory. I like his raspy voice. He will also be successful no matter what. I think Adam and Danny will go head to head at the end.

Allison is pick #3. I pick her voice over Chris', even though I like Chris' personality and style a lot more.

Okay, I just wanted to chime in on AI. I love Kris Allen and Danny. I think Adam is talented, but I don't like his style.

I actually saw him perform in WICKED & he SUCKED!!! The girl who played Elphaba totally carried him through their duet. But maybe he was just having a bad night or maybe his voice was tired :confused3.

Good choices in rides :thumbsup2.

You just want to show off your drawing skills at the Animation Academy .

Adam's gay??

I wasn't sure at first, but my gaydar kept going off when I saw him. And I have pretty good gaydar.

Katie--what part did Adam play in Wicked?

He played Fiyero. I think he was actually the understudy for the night since on the Playbill they have him as someone else, but they gave us an insert saying he would play Fiyero for the night. Maybe they didn't give him enough notice and he didn't have enough time to warm up??

He started off strong, but as the night went on his voice started cracking. And during the duet of "As Long As You're Mine" Elphaba was carrying the song. My DD says I'm too critical, but that is one of my favorite songs of the play and I was really disappointed.

She did go to college...she was there when my sister was. They went to the Unniversity of Pennsylvania. She graduated a year before my sister did in 1989.

Got to go do the dinner thing & then watch Survivor & Hell's Kitchen....will try to check back in before bed.
Hope everyone had a great day, has a great evening & if I don't see ya before you leave for the night, hope you have a great tomorrow!!!!!!!!
