Girls Only~ OLD THREAD, new one linked in first post

I was just going to have a granola bar in the room, so I will be happy to join you! What time?

SarahMay

Sorry Sarah, I missed this at the bottom there.
I'll add you too. :)
Time? Ummmmm, well, I don't know. I was going to shoot for the same time as SH55 was, around 9:30, but I guess it will depend on how many end up going and what they have open. I'll know when I call tonight.

Ariel's is princesses, not "characters" - doncha know :confused3 Mickey is da man :rolleyes1

I wouldn't know these things.....all boys in this family who would NEVER go to a princess meal. This will be my only opportunity. princess:

Beth - Hey, you know what? You got me thinking, and I've only done two character meals at Disneyland myself.....Goofy's and Storytellers. Well, actually those are the only two characters meals I've ever done anywhere. We didn't do any at WDW.

I agree, I wasn't impressed with the Storytellers breakfast...I am having lunch there this trip so I hope it is better. I have liked Goofy's kitchen in the past and plan to do Minnie and Friends in the park next time I take the family.

SarahMay

Maybe it's because I don't really like Chip and Dale. Or the other characters that were there. The restaurant itself was nice though.

I thought about Minnie's but after Theresa and Wendy got sick there last time.....I decided no. LOL
And someone said Goofy's was more expensive, so it was sort of process of elmination. And I like Mickey and hate Toon Town, so this is a nice way to get a pic with him.

I KNOW how frustrating last minute changes are. Trust me, I know. Especially to meal plans. However, having said that, it dawned on me that we aren't doing a character meal this trip. Why that just hit me now, I don't know. Just slow I guess.

Actually I didn't think about it because we usually don't do those meals as a family. Too expensive for a family of six!! :scared1:
In fact, I've only done ONE character meal ever at Disneyland and that was the Lilo and Stitch meal back in '08.

Anyway, I was thinking that since this will be my last time at DLR for at least two years or more :( , and since it's Shirley's first time :) , I'd like to do the Surf's Up Mickey and Friends breakfast.

I wasn't sure if I should because it seems utterly and completely frivolous considering the strict budget I am on, but it's not something I can ever afford to do with my whole family and that's part of what this trip is about; treating ourselves to things we wouldn't normally do. So I decided to go for it, and just cut back at other meals.

Looking at the schedule however there is only one day that I personally can see doing it, and that's on Monday morning in place of going to Steakhouse 55. I was looking forward to that, but I guess it's going to have to wait for another time.

Now, I'm not posting this to pull anyone away from their original plans, either Steakhouse 55 or anything else, but merely to let everyone know what I'd like to do and see if there is anyone else interested. IF not, that's perfectly fine. I understand. If yes, I'd love to have you join me and Shirley.

I'll call and make the reservation today at 4:00, so if anyone else wants to come, let me know before then and I'll add you. Sorry this is so last minute, it was just something I decided this morning.
Thanks. :)

I would like to go (and had not planned on SH55) but had planned to come back for the Storyteller's lunch since I will be going in the office that day--can I switch and go to breakfast and not lunch--that would probably be better for me anyway.

See--it takes all kinds. I LOVE :lovestruc Chip and Dale and the Storyteller's breakfast.

LOL I've done Ariel's one time before in summer of '08 for the twins birthday. Ruben took the older two and went on rides while I took Lindsey and Hannah and went to Ariels. It was pricey, but not horrible for only us 3. And I just love that the princesses come to you while you can relax and eat. :thumbsup2
I'm glad your coming to that. As you said, it's your only chance. princess:

And I know I will never spring for another character meal for six people. I told my kids when we did Lilo and Stitch, enjoy this, it's a one time family treat. LOL So that's why I'm taking this chance to do another now.

me too. :lovestruc

Although, I'm not really into characters that much unless my kids are around to enjoy them. I'm really looking forward to my Steamboat at the RBT that morning. YUM!:goodvibes

Sure, if you'd like. I can take you off Storytellers lunch and add you to Mickeys breakfast.

Guess I'll get a list going for Surfs Up:
Beth
Shirley
Theresa
Sarah
Cheryl

The food was good, but I prefer Chippendales. :rolleyes1 Sorry, couldn't resist. :p

RBT is another new thing for me this trip!! :cool1: But on Sunday morning. Wish we had the ROA view...... Oh well.

I know - you have to go when you're on this trip. Same for me - no way in you know where will my guys go to Ariel's, so it's perfect (and we can wear tiaras, so even more perfect :cheer2:)

Completely Off Topic but I am having such a hard time deciding between Polynesian, Caribbean Beach and Fort Wilderness cabins for my trip in November of 2011...there will be 6 of us...me, dh, ds, dd, my mom and my 13 year old nephew. We will be there for 4 nights and my mom wants something with a cool pool, a good location to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, good convinient transportion and a decent price. I have priced them out and Polynesian has a good pool, great transportation, good location to the parks we want but is really pricey...like double the price of the other options. The Caribbean Beach has a good pool, low price but is not in a great location nor does it have great transportation. The Fort Wilderness cabins are about the same price as the Caribbean beach, has good transportation, a good location but the pool is really basic. I just don't know which to pick...I am betting my mom is not going to want to do Polynesian at that big a price difference.

Opinions?

Have you looked at renting points for DVC? With 6 people it is sometime a better deal to get a two bedroom or two studios? Then I would suggest Beach club!!

I think of those choices, I would go with Caribbean Beach, the transportation is not that bad. I would also look into DVC points, that might be nice also.

I want to stay in a garden suite at the Boardwalk Inn someday....

Okay, since Beth opened up a can of worms (j/k), I'm going to take my name off Steakhouse 55. Not adding it to anything else. The shuttle is picking me up at 1:20 and I'm going to get some park time in, or maybe sleep in a little. I will be at DCA for the picture at 11 (?). And can you add this to the front page: Heather, Callie, Vicki, Donna and I will be at Cafe Orleans on Saturday at 3pm, we still have one spot open if anyone else wants to join us. We're planning on meeting at 2:45 so we can be out of there by 4 to see Billy Hill.

Yay, Captain EO will be open for our trip. I hope it doesn't bring in more people.

Hope everyone is having a great day! :goodvibes

Beth, I know you know all about dental woes. I just went to a new dentist today because our old dentist was never friendly and his office is too far from our house. So I go in and it took over 2 hrs but it was because of people coming in with emergencies.

I got my cleaning, did not hurt at all :thumbsup2 but now my new dentist has a permagrin on her face because a) we're new clients b) I'm scheduled to get my wisdom teeth removed in 3 weeks and c) I'm scheduled to see a root canal specialist because they think I will need one on my front big tooth.

Thankfully our new insurance covers more but there will definitely still be some cost out of pocket.

Oh and I have a consultation with the orthodontist today

I have to go brush my teeth again because I had clam chowder for brunch and it was yummy! We'll be leaving for the ortho soon. Fun times ahead

Oh and I bought bags for the candy buffet so no one needs to worry about bringing their own. I'll also be bringing gallon ziploc bags too for those who want one.

My first and only and never again time on TOT. Why is my family the only ones scared? LOL
We're the front row except for the blond guy. Sarah wasn't at this trip.
