ChaCha has been busy for me! I was stoked to get some back to back questions. My goal is to earn 200 before the February payout---it's a longshot, but I am going to try.:thumbsup2

Are you getting a lot of stupid questions? I've been using the Decline button probably about twice as much as the Accept button!!! Stupid kids!!! :lmao:

OKay so back to desserts. I had an idea.

Anyone ever heard of a candy buffet? They are popular at graduation parties, birthday parties and even weddings.

Here is a link to some images so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about: http://images.google.com/images?q=c...tIndex=&startPage=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

And here's a pic: (but it doesnt' have to be so fancy)

What about instead of cake or cookies or whatever, each person bring a bag or two of candy? :confused3 (those can pack easily too)
We can set up one table really pretty or fun like with a table cloth, some dollar store containers, and some party favor bags and make a candy buffet.

People can take what they want and eat it that night or have it to snack on at the parks.

I can even buy the containers. My Dollar Tree has some fun ones.

What do y'all think? It's just an idea. Might be easier then cake.

Love that idea! I actually already know what I'm going to bring... mmmm, chocolate!!!

I love that idea. I'm in for that!

Plus, any leftovers will be easy to take back to the room or to the parks the next days.
Do you?? I do too! I mean I saw it once on a DIS Budget Board thread and I fell in love with the idea.

I am going to do it for my DD's Sweet Sixteen party. But a friend of mine did it for her DD's graduation party and people do them for wedding receptions too.

I love that you can make it fancy or simple depending on how you decorate it. We can make a disney theme or a lime green theme. Some people even color coordinate their candy, but that's a bit much of our little party I think! That's more for weddings and such.

But I figure candy is pretty cheap. Each person, even those flying can bring at least one bag. I can bring several.

My friend for her graduation candy buffet used their class colors and found cute plastic containers are the dollar store. And cute little scoops for getting the candy into the bags.

I dunno. I've just always liked the idea and wondered what others thought.

Dawn's post about candies reminded me about the candy buffet so I had to go search for some pics to show!!! LOL Thanks Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Oh good!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I think it will be fun! And if someone is too full, they can still fill a bag to take for later or to carry into the parks! And it won't have to be refrigerated like some desserts might, kwim?

We already have a "theme" going. I'm gonna PM you.

Here are some posts from other DISers who actually used this idea. These can all be found on the thread I read on the budget board located here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1828634
But it gives you an idea of how fun this can be and how easily it can be customized to fit any occasion!

I love seeing some of the "oldie" candies too!!!

I just had a candy buffet at my wedding reception, it was HUGE hit! Some of my dishes were antiques that I had or picked up along the way, but most of them were simple clear bowls and vases that I picked up at dollar tree and walmart.

Here are some pictures of our buffet.

I finally did my candy buffet! It was a hit. We had a "Summer Fun" theme. I put the candy in sand buckets and used the shovels to scoop it out. I also made each kid a personalized bucket to put the candy in.

I got the inspiration to do this for my godson's graduation party from this thread. Hopefully these pictures work:

YeaHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... i have been wanting to do a Candy Buffet for the last year!! I have a entire folder of pictures of them.. they are sooo much fun!

I have little clear bags.. that i can bring so people can take things back to their rooms with them... Would you like me to bring those, CheryL or Stacerita?

I will suggest that wrapped candy might be better idea. No worries about ants or bugs. kwim? Also, no need to worry about scoops and such.

Beth--

Someone has got to cut you off! Now you literally have posted a candy store on the thread! :rotfl:

I guess you are helping us to face temptation in the eye -- again and again and again. :sad2:

:rotfl2: Don't you just LOVE it!!! I had honestly NEVER heard of one until I read that thread. Then I thought what a neat idea!

I told my DD to hurry up and turn 16 (she's only 12) so I could throw her a party with a huge candy buffet!! :lmao: It seems like so much fun for teens too, kwim?

Your post reminded me about this idea, and I thought why not! It seems perfect and everyone can participate, even those flying in. Plus with so many different candies it's easier to please everyone then trying to pick one flavor of cake.

Awww, but I like the little scoops. :rotfl2: ;)

I see what you mean about ants, but if they are in party favor bags with little twist ties, would that work? We kept bags of snacks in our HoJo room without any issues. :confused3 I dunno. Whatever you all think.

Candy is candy, wrapped or not! :hyper:

Sorry Miss Jen! :flower3:
You're right, I'm just trying to help everyone face temptation. :rolleyes1

Yeah, you are right. I forgot that we will be inside now. No worries about gnats and such. Ok, unwrapped is cool too. Bring on the little scoops.

Whoo hoo! Little scoops it is! :thumbsup2

Gee, did anyone else notice that even though this thread JUST started on January 7 that we are already on page 100!!! :scratchin

So we bring stuff for a dessert buffet?
And pick up something from the dollar store to place it on?
Is this the plan?

Hi Everyone!
Man you guys chat A LOT!!!
I went to WDW for 6 days and came back to a 100 page thread! DD & I had a marvelous time. Everything went perfect (except the delayed flight home), but all meals, parks, hotel and CM's were wonderful.:goodvibes

I know I am late, but I like veggie pizza and DD likes Pepperoni. But we're not that picky and will eat anything but plain cheese - hey, I like toppings, what can I say? We both also love the flavored vodka's - raspberry and vanilla are the best. I drink wine a lot at home, but I think a real drink is appropriate for a party.:joker: So, count us both in as having a couple of drinks - however much we owe, just let me know.

And Beth, all that candy is making me dizzy! Holy Crap. Whatever you guys decide on just let me know.

To the pizza party committee....remember I am local, so if you need anything let me know - I can bring anything that might be bulky for those traveling in.

Trying to catch up real quick here.

I have afew thoughts on the candy thing. What if whoever is buying it, has a bunch leftover, and is stuck with paying? I'd hate for that to happen to anyone. :sad2: I personally probably won't have any. I can see myself waiting until I am able to get something really big and worthy.......like a caramel apple or a churro or Dole Whip. Now that is just me.

The next thing is the cake. I really don't mind making a couple of chocolate sheet cakes to bring. They're really good, and easy to make. Kind of like Texas sheet cake brownies, if any of you know what that is. As a matter of fact, I can bring a bunch of those instead. I enjoy this kind of stuff, and I am driving, so no worries about the transfer of stuff.

Same with food items. I can go to Costco,or the store and get water, drinks, snacks or whatever. I just might need help getting them to our rooms. :faint:

Anyways, just let me know.:thumbsup2

Yep! :thumbsup2 Well, candy buffet so just candies.
As for the stuff to put it in, I think we'll take care of that. One, so it's easier on those flying, and two so it all matches their theme.
So everyone just a bag of candy, or two. However much you can comfortably bring.

And try to get creative! I know there's the favorites like M&M's. Favorites are always good, but if you come across something fun and unusual bring that! :cool1:

Welcome back Linda!!
I'm glad to hear you had a nice time. :goodvibes And thanks for the offer to help. I'm sure the ladies overseeing the pizza party will definitely keep you in mind. :thumbsup2

Oh yes i'm already looking for disney themed candy! The twinikins and I are googling.. they want to trade in their animal crackers for the candy:rotfl:

Miss Melody's brownies sound yummy. She's a SuperGreat CooK!:thumbsup2

I REALLY don't like being sick. Everything takes forever to do and I'm super tired.

I saw the candy buffet over on the budget thread and thought it was a fun idea. I'm glad we are able to do it. :goodvibes I'll bring the Red Vines, 'cause if there's some left over I wont mind. ;)
