Now that the holidays are over - did anyone else get some truly terrible gifts??? I did!! This year I got the worst gift I've ever received - truly!

We had my stepdaughter stay with us for five weeks (:scared1:). Now, before you think I'm totally mean to a child - she is 26 years old and lives in Germany normally. I always say she has her dad's talent for picking out horrid gifts. They usually start out with a good idea, but then go a little past where they would be nice. For example - I got an apron. I like to cook, I like aprons - it's a good thing. But then it's personalized. Again, this could be good. But the personalization is more like a card - instead of just one funny or sentimental sentence, it's a whole page worth of stuff ending with a "Lovely and then her name (and her sister's, for whatever reason). OK then...

However, the worst gift ever was what she gave me as a "thank you" gift when she was leaving. She handed me a gift bag with a card and a tin of cookies. OK - I don't need any more cookies, but it could be nice. When she left, I opened the bag and looked at the cookies. What? There's no tape around the tin? It looks like these have been opened.... When I opened the tin - half of the cookies had already been eaten :confused3 Wow. I showed my husband when he got back from the airport and he told me - this is even better - that his friend had come over the night before to give her a gift before she left. Yep, the cookies. She opened them and ate half, then decided she could not take them with her.......... Hmmmmmmm........ So she gave them to me in a gift bag as a thank you

Anyone else get terrible presents this year (or ever)???

I happen to think that is pretty funny!! This puts a whole new meaning on "regifting!":scared1: :rotfl:

I plan on being there on Sunday as well.

My TWENTY year high school reunion is this year! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Sorry, these things just hit me sometimes. :sad2:

I'm sure there's others on here that want to say, "Yeah, right, I'm WAY past 20!!" How about almost 30?!? At least I still have a couple of years to get back in shape! :scared1:

For those of you following Christine's adventure, we were able to finally connect last night on Yahoo Messenger, with our webcams. She still looks the same ;) She did post some new pictures on her blog. Man, this is going to be a LONG 4 months!!!

You planning on going?
No way. I think Ruben wants to, (we graduated together) but I have no desire to see anyone again.

Good picks, my favorite smilies!

Something for him:

Not so much. My DS ate one and spit it out (and he'll usually eat anything!). I think this may have been a regifted regift :scared1: They looked pretty stale to me. The chocolate coated kind, but the chocolate was a bit discolored....

BTW - my 20 year high school reunion was last year. We did not go, but it was short notice and quite a distance from where we are. Does anyone watch the KTLA morning news? One of the anchors there was in my graduating class and was organizing it - kind of fun!! Although thinking about graduating high school 20 years ago is a bit depressing - I'm so OLD!!!

Well, I guess this wasn't a horrible gift, but my best friend and I had promised not to get each other gifts. and being best friends we also knew that we would break that promise. LOL so I got her some neat coffee cups that will go great in her new house and some "designer" olive oil. she got me one of those heated back massager thingies that you put in a chair and sit on (to relieve stress). Great thought--but my Mom had wanted to get that too and I told her "no" cause I wouldn't use it. sigh. so now it's sitting in a box in my dining room. I'm going to have to take it out of the box sometime.

I'll trade you for some slightly "used" cookies :thumbsup2

My cel is the same as last year, with the 8393 ending. I have the list from last year, so I think I have everyone except Wendy. Wendy....if you're listening, please PM your cel phone number! :)

omigosh! I watch KTLA every morning--which anchor???? Frank? It's my favorite morning news group--although I miss Carlos.

It's Michaela. I think both Mark and Michaela are Canadian (well, I know Michaela is :)) I watch it too - I loved it when they did the show from DCA when they opened up Toy Story Mania.

Love Micheala! and yes, Mark is Canadian too--I think he's from Toronto.

I think she got SUCH bum rap when they had her replace Stephanie Edwards on the Rose Parade coverage--It's not like Michaela was out to bump off Stephanie--don't get me wrong--I love Stephanie too--and am glad she's back--I just think Michaela was painted as the "scarlet woman" and it wasn't true. She didn't control things.

She seems like a really down-to-earth nice lady.

I didn't really want to see people either, but I made myself go and had fun. :) Of course, it also gave us a Disneyland trip (if we had to go to CA we might as well get to Anaheim, right?). :)

My number hasn't changed--and Wendy, I've changed blackberries since I saw you last so please pm me your cell number too!

Lawyers and their Blackberries! :rotfl: (just like my SIL)

and now I have the Storm . . . .

I'll have to ask Jen to see what she has. The girl was crackberrying while at DLR and at Seaworld when she's had a chance to go with us (some visits to my brother I don't see her more than a few hours). She has to have it with her and work her bum off; she is a 5th year associate at Latham&Watkins in San Diego, but still, it made me sad she couldn't 100% relax!

My DH and I re-met at our 10 year high school reunion and that's where it all started. So, yes, we did go to our 20 year reunion. It was a lot of fun and nice to see people. I say go! But then, I am partial to reunions. Worked out for me. :lovestruc
