Girls Only Disneyland Trip - Old Thread

And I never knew this but I think every state has different bakers and even different types of cookies.

I just found that out! There's a thread about GS and cookies on the community board right now, and from there I decided to look up the nutrition facts, and found out that one company does a nice job with their cookie ingredients, but the other company is just crud! Both do Thin Mints, but they are DIFFERENT from each other! The crud company puts HFCS in their Thin Mints while the other doesn't. Too too weird.

You chose a great club to be a part of! There's no work involved whatsoever, you just sit there doing nothing! :surfweb:

Oh man, I can't be part of it. I'm using the computer, and watching DS watch Harry Potter (he's a very active movie-watcher, it's very amusing and fun to watch) and sort of watching Harry Potter. So I'm not doing nothing. Dangit.

You can still be part of the club, if you want. As long as your not juggling TVs or something.

Oh terrific! A club, a club!

Back to the drawing board with the food reaction...website and menu for the restaurant says they use no MSG. Hmm. But I did put our own soy sauce on E's rice, and I took a bite of his rice (not sure why, had my own plate right there) so maybe it's in the soy sauce.

Isn't that funny Molly! I never knew that either. I thought they had like one big bakery and they shipped their cookies all over the U.S. And I also thought that all the cookies were named the same thing all over but they aren't. I think Thin Mints were the ONLY ones that kept the names if I remember from last year but all the others changed and we lost some cookies from before. But like Samoas changed to carmel delights and the chocolate covered peanut butter ones that I liked changed as well. I can't even remember what the heck they were called. Katy is a Brownie so she has only sold for two years. The first year they had the old names and then last year the new names. I never bought nor did I like or eat them before we were in GS so I wasn't familiar with them before this. I had JUST gotten used to the names of the OLD ones and then last year they up and changed them. LOL

I am sure after tomorrow I will remember them all again.

I know they have two different kind of peanut butter ones. I think the chocolate covered ones are called peanut butter patties. THOSE are good. And then they have just plain old peanut butter ones that are like sandwhich cookies with peanut butter in the middle. Then they have those shortbread cookies. The plain and the ones with the chocolate on one side. And they have these new lemon ones that some people like that are called lemonaides.

The old lemon ones I think were called lemon coolers.

Who knows. LOL I am going to know more than I ever wanted to VERY soon! I still have 8 million try its that I need to iron on the girls vests. Instead of giving them out at every meeting so we can do them gradually she saves them up and only gives them out twice a year so we have to do a billion at once. Try its are those badges they wear on the front of their vests. They get those for doing activities. And then the fun patches are the ones they wear on the back for different outings and such we go to.

Luckily Katy's vest is totally full so I have scrapbooked her extra patches but Lynn's and Shelby's still have some room but those don't get ironed on I have to sew those and we all know I don't sew so I take them and have them "done"! ;)

The bad news is Katy is moving up to Jr's which is the green vests this year so I have to start ALL over again with a new vest next year. ACK! But Shelby's vest and Lynn's vest will be full this year and so I don't have to worry about their's at least. :)

Well, shoot if that's the case, I should be club president!! :lmao:

I'll second that nomination.

I, however, just want to be a general member. Being an officer is just too much work and too much pressure!

I got asked today to become the president of my sorority alumnae association here in Las Vegas and I quickly said "NO!" The old president just got a promotion at work and is moving to Canada--it sounds like a good cover story if nothing else--and thus needs to resign. But since I have trouble making it to meetings sometimes due to work, family and occasional apathy, I am not the woman to run the show.

Hopefully someone else will do it and then I won't have to feel guilty for saying no.

Kelly and Molly ~ Y'all are killing me with all this talk about cookies and Chinese food!!!

Jane ~ Don't feel guilty for saying no. You're busy enough already and you have a toddler!

The cookie talk is killing me! I want a box of thin mints now.

We don't get the same kinds of GS cookies here - so I'm not really sad about not having any. The Chinese food though - I want me some :thumbsup2 We normally go out to a Chinese restaurant on Christmas Eve with my parents, but we had to cancel this year because of the snow :sad2:

I actually have a box in my freezer that are left from last year. They are Dave's favorite, but he has more willpower than me--thus he still has a full box of cookies left over a year later whereas my Samoas were gone within a week!

Why don't you just tell your boss that you're not feeling too good, and jump in the car and head for Vegas. I'll supply the cookies and Beth will supply the fun!;)

Sorry Beth. See I can talk about them cuz I know they taste like carboard. Or at least they do to me. I am more of a chocolate chip person. My cookies have to be soft and gooey. Those hard things, well BLEH! I don't see what people see in those things but I am glad that they DO like them for the girls sake LOL.

But I agree with you about the Chinese. That DOES sound good. That is my weakness and whenever we do splurge and have some I always gain a good 2 lbs in one day! ;)

OMG! Do you know how wonderfully awesome that would be!!!!?

Oh come on--a little sorority alumnae work never hurt anyone. (jk) (Try being a standards advisor of a chapter--LOL) Which sorority?

OH Great...Now I really, really, really want Thin Mints & Carmel Delights.

I am a Kappa Delta. The only problem with volunteer sorority work is that my full time job is actually Director of Greek Life and I am also the state coordinator for KD in Nevada. BTW, I feel your pain as a standards advisor, since I am technically the standards advisor for 29 groups on my campus!

What is your affiliation?

Sorority talk, sigh.

I got dropped from rush. Twice. (I think the appropriate term would be that I didn't get offers from ANY houses)

v. v. bad memories surrounding that stuff.

I did the whole rush thing but I decided I was more interested in my boyfriend at the time so I blew them off. LOL. I rushed Delta Gamma. It was too much of a committment for me.

Kappa Kappa Gamma. I was active at UC Riverside and was the standards advisor at University of Utah. (80 girls who were determined to do everything in their college years that they were never going to do again--one girl even got asked not to come to any more fraternity parties--by the fraternity :scared1: --and eventually was the one and only person in the history of the chapter who got thrown out of Kappa.

Ok so I HAVE to ask did you guys see House Bunny?

No--should I?

Molly--some of my sorority sisters are still my best friends and some of my sorority sisters I could go forever without ever hearing from. (One keeps calling and leaving messages and I just never call her back--you'd think she'd get the hint.) But you're in the DisDivas sorority--it's the BESTEST.

Was your boyfriend at the time Shane?
