Ryan, my nine year old, is in the third grade, and his teachers (his regular third grade teacher and his resource room teacher) are trying to get him ready to take the third grade state math exam (called the WASL). Anyway, he came home yesterday with a math quiz he did in class. It was only 5 problems, adding 4 digit numbers together (like 3764 + 4529). He got 100% on his quiz, so I went in his room to tell him what a great job he did and that I was so proud of him. He responded, "Yeah mom, I'm getting smarter now. I'm not autistic anymore." :goodvibes
Awwww, how precious.

I smiled reading that.:) As you know my 5 yr old son has autism. He has given me a tough couple of days. :guilty: I am emotionally drained. I felt bad yesterday because a friend, who also has a 5 yr old w/ autism, emailed to tell me her son had called her "mama" for the first time. Even though I was happy for her I was feeling jealous also. :sad2: My guy has never called me "mom", "mommy" or anything else. And we are trying to potty train - I don't think that will ever happen. :guilty:
OK - sorry for the rant.
I just love coming on this thread and thinking about how wonderful it is going to be to have a relaxing weekend. :cool1:
And I promise to be fun!;)
I'm sorry it's been tough for you lately. Well, probably in general. Obviously I can't imagine what it's like for you but I can say that one day I hope you too will get to hear his sweet voice calling you "Mom". :grouphug: And feel free to "rant" here all you want!

I'm back! Well, I've been back but doing other things. It wasn't too bad. I go back in two weeks for a follow up to discuss more treatment. I still have another tooth to be pulled, a cleaning, and the partial to make. So more fun times ahead!!

Anyway, enough of that. My laptop died!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I don't know what's wrong with it. :confused3 I'm using our desktop which is older then dirt and slower then molasses. I hate it, but it's this or nothing.

So far this is the song list I have:
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
YMCA
Brown Eyed Girl
Rock Star
My Sharona
Cha-Cha Slide or Chicken Song (lol)

Come on!! We need more! Everyone else name a song!! :cool1:

Boise is a great little city. The only thing I really do not like is the weather. It is hot hot hot in the summer and too dang cold in the winter. I wish it would make up its mind. Other than that, it is a great place to raise kids and also has great schools.

I pass that Ameritel almost every day.:goodvibes May I ask what you do for a living?
I'm a potato girl. I work for JR Simplot Co. I have been there for 10 years. I am now almost ready to apply for the nursing program.

I fly out of Spokane too. I have a companion ticket on Alaska I need to use. We have to be on the same flights to use it though, but if we can agree on flight times/airport, then we could split the cost of everything.

If we fly into LAX or Long Beach, it would probably be around $180-$190 per person round-trip.

I'm flying down sometime on Thursday and flying back sometime on Sunday.

Let me know if you'd be interested.:)

OK, that works for me. I am doing the Segway tour on Sunday morning. So I would need a later flight.
I am good with anytime on Thursday. I might be able to talk my bff into
taking us to the airport.

Jen, I read your post about the Dole Whips (or floats, or juice, etc) being on Sunday morning. Does anyone know when that Dole Whip place opens up?
There will be a group off on the Segway tour during that time, but there will never be a time when some group isn't off doing something. kwim?

So Sunday morning is fine with me if it's fine with everyone else who's wanting to do it. So far I think it's just Jen, Stacie, Jane, myself and Theresa that have expressed a willingness to pose for the pic.

Anyone else? :confused3

I think that both Cheryl and Molly said that they would be up for it too. Molly and I will be the ones hiding our pineapple juice in the back while the rest of you hold up your dole whips!:rotfl:

Me!

Yup! I "think" the Dole Whip place opens when the park opens. I know that Tinkermell got one at 11 a.m. the other day on Sunday.

Ok, I'm outta here. I cannot stand this computer. :rolleyes2 Check back later.
I'm sorry Beth. I hope your computer gets better soon! :flower3:

Hey everyone....Lots and lots of chatter the last couple of days. I finally caught up.
Katie, your DD is so adorable! I can't wait to see her.

So, I'm gonna go to DL on my b-day (my 40th bday), 2/17. Who can join me? Most of my family won't have passes, so I was thinking about just a trip with me and whatever gals are available. Anyone?
I'll be there with the hubby and boys on that day. I would love to meet up with you, but probably can't ditch the family for the entire day. Tracey

I wish! But that's a fun way to spend your 40th!! pixiedust:

I need to think of something fun for my 40th. Ruben turns 40 in January of 2011 and I turn 40 in October of 2011. Same year just a few months later. So we were thinking of celebrating our birthdays together somewhere in the middle........perhaps June. (Late for him, early for me)

We've talked about taking a family cruise to Alaska. So if we decide to do that it will mean no ladies trip for me in 2010 since I'll be saving every penny for that cruise.
Anyway, whether we do a cruise or not, I know I want to do something BIG! :cool1:

Oh, yes, a cruise to Alaska, out of Seattle. You can come and visit! ...

Good morning ladies,

I got the boys off to school this morning. It's was Luke's turn to bring snack for his kindergarten class.....it's supposed to be a somewhat healthy snack, but hubby got Oreo cookie packs. I'm sure his teacher will be THRILLED to have 20 kids like this today.:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Poor guy, he's getting more aware and self conscious (and maybe embarrassed) of being autistic.

Okay, enough of my kid stories.

When is everyone getting in on Thursday? I can't decide on a flight......I could get in early, like 11:10am, and spend the afternoon in the parks with someone......or I could fly in later around 3:15pm, which would save me a little money because then my hubby could drive me to the airport and I wouldn't have to leave a car in the parking garage for four days.

Hmmmmm, do I want to save $36 on parking, or do I want to spend the afternoon in Disneyland with some of the ladies (if there are going to be any available)? :scratchin

Money is extremely TIGHT.....but fun is, well, FUN. Crap.:upsidedow

Well, at least I won't be the only lady not doing the tote exchange. Whew!

What happened to my flight mate?? You're ditchin me for Long Beach or LAX? Well, okay, I would go earlier and have more fun if I could for sure.

Hey everyone! I hope your computer wakes back up Beth!

I was a nanny back in the day, and had the privilege of taking care of a little boy with autism. He was 5 when I potty trained him. We used a program that one of his specialists reccomended, and it worked really well. His parents didn't do thngs as well on the weekends, and it felt like every Monday was starting over again, but he did it...in only 3 weeks! It was my gift to the new nanny that was about to start. Those two years nannying him and his older sister were wonderful to me. Just felt like sharing, good memories are hard for me to keep in. :goodvibes

DH is going to the Olive Garden for dinner. :cheer2: Yay for not having to cook!

I hope you all are doing well.

Geesh..I should have multi-quoted. Just know that I read everything quite thoroughly this time. I wish I could comment on all your quotes, but I don't have time.

The one thing I want to mention is the song.

How about the "Chicken Song"? :lmao: That along with YMCA should get us going. :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: There is another song that is played at weddings alot, but I don't know the name. All I know is that you are instructed to jump forward, step back, slide to the side, rock back and forth, and so on. Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? :rotfl2:

party:

Oh and one more important thing.

To those who are interested in the scavvy hunt, and have not signed up yet. You need to let us know.:)

We are ready to put the teams together.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Is there room for two more? My mom and I would like to join in.

I think that both Cheryl and Molly said that they would be up for it too. Molly and I will be the ones hiding our pineapple juice in the back while the rest of you hold up your dole whips!:rotfl:
Oh, good! I must have missed them. Sorry gals!
We are going to add it to the schedule for Sunday @ 10:00 so whoever is in the area and in the mood for some Dole Whip, a pineapple spear, some juice or a float, please feel free to join us in a pic to post on the thread for Bawb. :goodvibes

That will probably be my breakfast that day!! :hyper:

I'm going to pick "Love Shack" Or Wake me Up (Wham)
LOL I was going to go with the Wham song (great minds think alike!), so we'll add both! Love Shack as your choice and Wake Me Up as mine. :thumbsup2

DH is going to the Olive Garden for dinner. :cheer2: Yay for not having to cook!

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, I love Olive Garden. :upsidedow

Afternoon or I guess I should say evening. Man I can't keep up with you guys.

Beth I am glad your tooth extraction went better than planned and I hope the rest goes ok. I am sorry about your computer. I know how frustrating it is to have to work on an old computer. I hope you can get it fixed soon.

As far as a song I love anything from Nickelback or anything fun from the 80's like Duran Duran or B52's (Love shack maybe). I can't think of names but anything fun. I love the 80's of course cuz that is when I was a teen LOL.

Things are getting a "little" better I guess but I still am just kind of spinning because it is all still a bit crazy. I've been back home now for a week but my parents left for Mexico yesterday which I wasn't thrilled about cuz it still kind of stresses me out even though they got someone else to watch their animals and take care of their house and I haven't been back to work yet. I am not sure WHEN I am going back but probably sometime next week. I have a LOT of stuff coming up though in the next few weeks and I am a tad stressed about it but I am trying NOT to stress but it is hard. I have an apt with my psychologist on Monday although I have since found out that I can get 30 apts with one through my ins and if I am diagnosed with a "parody" meaning a diagnosis of OCD or manic depressive or some other disorder that is classified as a parody then I can get unlimited visits. So I am thinking about telling this therapist on Monday that I should probably find one that takes my insurance. Because right now my parents are paying and I don't want them to have to take on that burden cuz that is too much. I am sure you can imagine he is expensive! I also don't want to have to start over and I have only seen him once so far so I think it is better that I switch before I get to far into it. Then I have to meet with a psychiatrist to get on some medication for my anxiety cuz that's the way they do things so I have an apt for THAT on Feb 3rd and then we are meeting with our pastor for "family" counseling on Tuesdays and my stepdaugther is meeting with him by herself after us on Tuesdays. Still trying to get that all worked out from when she ran away. Trying to get our family communication fixed etc.

Plus my pastor is trying to help my dh understand how to communicate with someone like me who has OCD and depression. Anyway then on top of everything else I have my surgery on Feb 5th so I have to do my bloodwork and then of course the actual surgery and then Katy has a field trip for school on the 6th and the 7th is Lynn's 17th birthday and the 14th is Shane and I's 10th anniversary although I don't know if we will even do anything because of all that is going on but we HAVE to do something for Lynn although right now I am still disgusted with her for everything she pulled but still. AND on top of ALL of it, it is RIGHT in the middle of Girl Scout cookie sales which the girls totally missed indiv sales cuz I missed the meetings but we are supposed to start site sales soon and then we decided to go after Lynn's mom for Child Support FINALLY after 10 years so we opened up THAT can of worms but we HAD to do it. But we are gearing up for a battle with that so that is adding some stress cuz we know she is going to lie and cause problems so I am trying to get evidence to prove what she has done to Lynn and that we sent her for all her visitations and on and on.

So it has been an interesting and crazy time. I am just trying to re-integrate and with Shane working nights now everything is turned upside down.

My parents are gone and I haven't been to work in a couple weeks.

Mom and I still haven't bought our plane tickets or our totes and I need to do that so I can have the lady embroider them and me and my OCD it makes me antsy cuz I like to get everything done cuz I don't like to leave stuff till the last minute.

I am SO looking forward to this trip though. I am so glad I have this place to come and read about the trip because this is the ONE place that I can come and forget about EVERYTHING else and I have this trip to look forward to and I can't wait. It is truly the one bright spot in all the crap right now LOL.

You guys have no idea!

I am just so glad that we are doing this and I can't wait to get somewhat back to normal!

Thank god for you guys and this trip is all I can say! :)

My inlaws are in town one more night and are going to stay with the kids overnight while Ruben and I go out. Not sure yet where we are staying, and I don't feel 100% like going out, but hopefully we'll have a nice time.

Have a good night everyone and I'll talk to y'all sometime tomorrow. :wave2:

Ok it's me again. Just wanted to add that I looked at Southwest and eventhough they said that the fares were supposed to go back DOWN they went UP! GRRRR so I just talked to mom and it looks like we may fly in to OC after all. We are now looking at flying in to OC at 2 p.m. And possibly taking the 9 p.m. flight out on Sunday night. Mom wanted to take the 7:30 but that price keeps going up. So hopefully we will take the 9 cuz not only is it cheaper but it gives us more time on Sunday because of the whole 2 hour ahead and the time for the shuttle to pick us up etc etc.

So what I am thinking is when she gets back next week we will hopefully FINALLY purchase the tickets and if we take the 2 o'clock flight on Thursday we will most likely take a cab unless there is anyone else coming in to OC at that same time that wants to share a ride. Otherwise that is our plan.

And Beth I know you are out for the evening but we are up for the dole whip photo and anything else. I am just kind of overwhelmed with all the planning. I hope someone can print out an itinerary of what's happening cuz I KNOW I will forget all this stuff. But we are up for pretty much anything and everything. Mom and I have already said we don't care about rides that much cuz we go all the time and I am going again the very next month so I am happy to do whatever everyone else is doing cuz I can go on rides anytime.

Anyway just wanted to get that in cuz I don't think I had mentioned that but once we get our tickets bought for sure I will confirm that but I am pretty sure that is what we are going to do. :)

OK, so here's your mission for the day ladies!! I'm going to make a CD for our pizza party. Can't have a party without music!!

7.gif
9.gif

So what I'd like each of you to do is pick a song that you'd like to have on the CD. Whatever you want. Doesn't have to be Disney. Think party music, fun, upbeat, etc.
I'll make a list, compile all the songs and then burn a CD for us to play that night. :cool1: Sound good?

I've got to go get ready for my dentist appt. Getting my stitches out today. :scared: I hope it goes ok. Everytime I go to the dentist I get more bad news so we'll see what he tells me today.

I hope when I get back I'll see a long list of songs.............:hyper:

I'll PM you my choice(s).

OMgoodness! That is just gorgeous. (yes, I know I'm weird).

I will just leave it at that.

What happened to my flight mate?? You're ditchin me for Long Beach or LAX? Well, okay, I would go earlier and have more fun if I could for sure.

Awwww, I'm sorry Tracey. I don't mean to ditch you. You're a cool chick!:thumbsup2 :flower3:

I would fly roundtrip to Orange County, but the flights going back home sometime in the afternoon or evening are WAY expensive, and for us to use a companion ticket requires us to fly roundtrip to/from the same airport, so it doesn't look like Orange County is the best cost-wise.
