CheryL... what do you tell them when you get your card?
will they let me go with my mom if i don't have one of the cards?:confused3
or will they say
NO souP for YoU!

If your mom is using a wheelchair or ECV, your mom won't need one. If she's going to be walking, but she needs to avoid stairs, then she will need one.

And yes, you will be able to go with your mom. Your mom, and up to five other people, will be able to stay together.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info Laurie:goodvibes

My mom will be the HaPpPy MoNkEY when i tell her about this GAC card.

If i get it tomorrow will it last for the entire triP?

I am so sad I didn't get more involved in this thread. I am so not into this trip and have so much going on this week, I am debating skipping the trip to get some work done :( Or maybe I am just hormonal

OH! Do come. We will make you happy and your hormones will have you alone at home:)

i've NEVER been on toy story :confused3
but i wanna wanna really wanna

and i'm going on peter pan this trip..the last two trips the lines have been sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOooooo LoNg.. that i was like.. No WaY.

I love Peter Pan. At opening on Friday for sure. Get your Gac on Thursday. Oh and they will let you in too as well as 4 more of your closest friends:)

You just tell them she is not physically able to do stairs.

HoLa Disney Super Mom... she's not in a wheelchair or does she have a scooter..although i may have her try one out on tuesday just to see if she likes it.. tuesday the park is usually not so busy.

They let the person's reasonably-sized party in with the GAC holder.

Toy Story Mania has a siding where disabled guests board at their speed. Some regular cars are brought in there. The wheelchair car has a drop down back that makes a ramp. The chair is rolled in and the ramp raised. This car is also for persons who cannot pull the string as it has a bangable button.

Interesting about the button! Wish Buzz Lightyear had something like that....while some of you hurt your wrists and shoulders on TSMM, Buzz causes my hand to cramp up like crazy.

For some unusual, fill-a-car, line-management reason, we were once put into that car on Space Mountain (with people who were not in our group, who who did need it...we weren't just put there alone). Interesting experience, having it slide out onto the track like that. Since the Space cars *have to* load so dang FAST, I'm glad they created it, to take the pressure off of people!

CheryL...what's a GAC card?
I am SO glad you told me about the stairs!
If you need to go in the cars you mentioned what do You do?
Others explained it, I'll tell you more when I see you.

Happy & Safe travels to everybody.
I am coming tomorrow after work (1ish) and Chris (Califgrl) is driving up from San Diego too. We're just spending the day & evening. Glad it worked out for us both, it will be fun to see everybody.
I love Toy Story Mania and could ride it over and over! On my last girls trip to WDW, we went to a private party at the studio's and got to ride TSMania over and over since the park was closed. I think we all sprained our arm/shoulders from going on it so much....LOL So much fun!

I rode it twice in a row on the annual passholders' preview and couldn't move my arm the next day! LOL

You just tell them that she can't do stairs and needs a GAC card. They will ask how many in your party--since you are likely to be with others periodically I would tell them 6 (if there's less, it's not a big deal). They will take out a card and stamp a set of stairs on it! and stamp the letter 6--and write her name--and that's it. Be sure and tell them how many days you will be in the parks. And they will let the entire party--up to 6--use the alternate exit or entrance.

ON TSMM, you stand in the regular line--then when you get to loading you show them the card and they will direct you to the handicapped area. The bad news is that you might have to wait longer--for the handicapped car--but then when you're done you use an alternative exit.

You can either go to Guest Relations (as you're looking at the Disneyland turnstiles on your left) or City Hall. Or if you're in DCA it's to the left of the main entrance of DCA. They won't ask what kind of condition or anything--they can't legally require that.

well what is toy story like? i know nothing about it except for what i've seen when i walk by it.

i'm not going on any of the roller coasters or ScarDy CaT BeWaRe rides...

i've always wanted to post this little person..:bride: ..she looks like a little communion girL..not a bride:rotfl: :rotfl:

I've thought the same about that little gal!

Toy Story Mania - isn't that the one like Buzz Lightyear in that you sit in a car and aim at targets? I rode it in WDW and it's very very easy (I don't mean easy in scoring, just easy for anyone worried about rides!). It's fun! At WDW you weren't able to rotate your car, the ride did it for you.

I am up to 50,000 on Buzz Lightyear - :lmao:

I am with you on not doing thrill rides - don't worry, there are a few of us scardy cats!!!

Fairycat...do you like Cosplay? sometimes the costumes are so cute!

I hope that your kitty gets better real soon. My little chihuahua broke her front leg on easter last year..it was really scary, i was so afraid we would lose her. But after 2 operations she's doing super great. We say we have the most expensive chihuahua in el paso:rotfl2:

I have done a little cosplay here and there, but I am a huge costume nerd as I also belly dance in a few different styles and work the Renaissance Faires. My DH keeps trying to get me to get rid of some clothes and I kept pointing out that most of it was for costumes, dancing or clubs so I needed all of it, I seriously have a lot of vinyl :rotfl:

I hope he will get better he has cancer and is getting chemo and possibly another surgery, right now he is doing ok, but I would love to get him well.

Chihuahuas are very fragile creatures! I had a friend lose two when they got knocked on the head from a lazyboy chair :( I am so glad that your little one is doing so well!! Fur babies are so amazing!

Guest Assistance Card.

If you have troubles that might keep you from getting onto rides in the main queue, go to City Hall and tell them what help you need. If you can't do stairs, tell them that, and they will give you a card that you can present at the rides with stairs, so you can go in a different entrance. Splash will be one...Indy another...TSMM... It's to help guests out so they can enjoy things and not have to sit things out, just b/c the queues aren't workable for them.

That's the nutshell explanation for your situation based on what you just said. There's more, of course. And the stairs in TSMM are kick-your-butt, not really expected stairs, IMO!

I think those stairs are killer too!

Thanks for the info Laurie:goodvibes

My mom will be the HaPpPy MoNkEY when i tell her about this GAC card.

It is the disabled person whose name is on the card and up to 5 guests.

I am going to be there from 10 to 4 pm probably but not sure if DCA or DLR. I can take 5 of you with me on Tower of Terror fast pass and anyone wanting to tag along is welcome. Have to be at Ariel's in the afternoon. I was thinking of doing Space Mountain, Buzz, Innoventions, Nemo, and Star tours.

Bobsleds are down tomorrow but will be back friday .

You can get the GAC for up to a week so you can cover the whole week. You can take park rentals from one park to another as long as you do not leave the secured area aka the tents on either side. They will store for you your walkers, wheelchairs and other items that you use to get into the park. I store my Wheelchair and tomorrow will be storing mine.

Mechurchlady- For the button version of Toy Story do you need a GAC card to ride this vehicle? From my car accident I have a floating carple bone that gives me wrist and arm issues and that string thing hurts like you can't believe!! I would love to try that, since currently I get great scores but have to switch arms and ride only once a day to be able to ride, and pay for it later. With pregnancy my arms are even weaker now :(

As for Buzz scores I know I shouldn't brag, but I will ;) :rotfl: I just emailed my photo from monday to myself since my score hit 458,400!!!!!!

CheryL.. kewl deal:thumbsup2 I really appreciate you letting me know about this card.

Fairycat... yeahhhhhhh i know what you mean...:lmao: ..i have a black vinyl hoodie that my husband is like...why do you still have that in the drawer.. and i'm like.. Because it's a BLaCk ViNyL HOODIE!!:snooty:
very special indeed....and that's all that needs to be said about it.:lmao:

California Dreamer.. we have annual passes there's just some things i've never been on because of the lines. So this trip i hope to explore a few of them.

What time is everyone leaving tomorrow?

We will leave the house at 5 in the morning:scared1:

I do not know if there would a GAC for that but you could just tell the CM that you cannot do stairs and they would send you there. Tou can get a no stairs GAC and they legally cannot ask you if you are disabled. ADA rule
That or tag along with me and other GAC or scooter users. I will even let you ride for a while, lol.

Thanks Jill. I'm glad it worked out for you and Chris too! :goodvibes

Beth... travel safe and just think in only a few more hours you will be with your friends relaxing and having a wonderful time.

MeChurchLady.. thank you for all the helpful information.:goodvibes

Do all four seats in the special car have the buttons?

As to what time are we leaving...I'm not leaving until Friday, but my flight is at 6am. :headache: WHAT was I thinking? And I'm one of those "gotta be there very early" types (especially after our December experience of almost missing our flight home!!!), so we'll likely be leaving the garage (not the condo, but the actual garage...there's a difference!) at 4. UGH.

Heather: I think they would have a GAC for that too--but I agree with Laurie--just say no stairs. (Which given you're pregnant is not much of a stretch, right?)

Molly... i'm the same way too... earLy earLy.. it's probably a control thing with us.:rotfl2:

Safe travels, everyone!

I haven't really been part of this thread, because I didn't think I could come, but YIPEE! I'll be able to see you all Thursday, and come to the pizza party and tote exchange. I"m looking forward to seeing you all again, and meeting some of you for the first time!

I went to Costco and picked up the Deluxe AP (w/giftcard) voucher. So, I'm all set!

See you soon! Stay safe!
