Geez what a day.

Beth I am very sorry about your son ((hugs)) all I can say is hang in there. I am sure he will be fine. I know that is a hard thing to say when it is your child but I am sure he will do great. He and YOU will be in my prayers on Thursday!!

Amy that is just awful what happened to your son. I would be po'd too! I hope you can get something done about what happened ((hugs)). That is awful. I hope that your son is feeling better and I hope you can figure out what to do about the home school thing or whatever. Good luck!!

Capri that sucks about your hand. Hope you feel better! I have had moments like that and then feel like such a dork for doing it. Hope it starts feeling better soon. ;)

Cheryl that is just too funny about the cat! LOL.

Well I worked out yesterday and WOW am I sore today. WHEW! But I still want to try and workout, if even a modified version today. Yesterday was strength training so today is cardio. So hopefully it shouldn't be as bad. But man my whole body is sore. OUCH! LOL. That's what you get for not working out in 4 months or longer. I can't even remember how long it's been. It did feel good to get back to it though. We were planning on doing our cardio tape and then taking the dog for a walk but the temp has dropped and it is supposed to rain for the next 10 days so we shall see. But at least we can do our indoor stuff no matter what. I prob won't be able to workout tomorrow cuz I have my apt with my psychologist and it is a ways away and I have to be there at 10 which means I have to leave pretty early and by the time I get back from taking the girls to school I wouldn't have enough time.

But that is probably ok cuz after working out yesterday and today I will probably NEED a break LOL.

Other than that no other plans for today. Just watch Heros and that's bought it. :)

Hope everyone has a little better day today for those that had it rough yesterday!!

Talk to you all later. :)

CheryL... if ever in the history of the disboard there should be a tag given..it should be for yours
"senior" tip--never try to give the cat its pill when you're naked

Beth... look at the wonderful nurses on this board who work in the area your son will be having his procedure in, and believe that good hearted, expertly trained and purpose focused medical professionals will be caring for your child. Channel your energy into belief of good..and gratitude that this will help your son.

We went through a similar experience with our daughter and it helped to have faith in the people caring for her. Also pray for the doctor to have clear vision and purposeful hands, and that every hand that touches your son does so with knowledge, healing and compassion.

Lots of hugs to Heather, Beth, Capri, and Amy. Good grief, what a stressful start to 2009, huh? I know we are all anxious for March to get here already.

I found 2 shirts at WalMart (one long sleeve/one short) and will get dh to help with the iron-ons. Crossing my fingers they turn out ok.

Happy Tuesday everyone! We're one step closer to the weekend.

Cheryl - OMG, you are so funny! Love that senior tip!:lmao:

Beth - Oh sweetie, I feel just terrible for all the stress you're going through. I'll keep you and Adam in my prayers. It sounds like you're really going to need to few days to get away after all the crap you've been going through lately. Wanna meet me at DL March 5-9? ;)

Amy - That bus deal is just CRAP! They have so many kids riding on the school bus that it's standing (or sitting in the aisle) room only?! I can't believe that's safe. Is it even legal? And poor little Jake! I'd report it somehow.

Callie - I found my t-shirt at Walmart too. I haven't tried the transfer yet, but hopefully it turns out alright.

Okay, I need to get the boys ready for school. Catch ya all later.

So I was about to leave the house this morning and found out the shirts I had ordered had come in! I got those ringer t-shirts with the characters on them. Mine is blue with Mickey, my dh's is red with Grumpy, I got ds 2, 1 with donald and one with goofy, and my dd got a pink daisy onesie! They are soooo cute and I am so excited! We will wear them when we go on our family trip in september but I will also wear mine on our trip in March!

Sarah

Sorry everyone is having such a rough couple days! I can't believe that about the bus! I would be LIVID!!! No one and I mean NO ONE had better try that with my babies!

As for me, its been a tough week. I'm trying to get final projects done for 2 of my 4 classes. The other 2 won't end until April. Last Thursday I got a panicked call from my husband. One of the neighbor children had come to the door telling him my oldest son was badly beat up at the bus stop. Long story short, we come to find out he was made to sit on the floor in the aisle of the bus because the bus was overcrowded (and then find out this has been going on for weeks, with kids either having to sit on the floor or stand due to lack of seats on the school bus). While he was on the floor, another child who was in a seat started kicking him in the head. Jake tried to get him to stop and it got worse. The bus driver did nothing to stop it, just told them they had to "wait until they got off the bus to fight". Jake had huge lumps on his head from getting kicked/hit in the head. Then he was let off the bus (not even checked to make sure he was ok) to walk home with the children that were hurting him. My husband found him crying with his hoodie pulled over his head hiding behind a car in someone's driveway.

After many days of fighting with the school and transportation office and getting nowhere, I am seriously thinking of pulling him out of school and home schooling him. How? I haven't figured that out yet, but I am beyond pissed. My son is somewhat shy and has never had any problems with school. He loves learning and does really well but since last week he has had trouble sleeping and is afraid to go to school.

So....again.....is it March yet??

I can't remember which channel it is, but one of our news teams does investigative reporting, and this sounds like the kind of story they would love! Kids forced to stand or sit on the floor of a school bus, where they are supposed to be safe? A bus driver who's telling kids to wait until they're off the bus to fight? It all sounds like something out of the Simpsons!!!

Anyhow, if it were me, I would have that bus driver's head on a plate, followed by his supervisor's head for dessert! Obviously they are not fit to be around children at all, let alone responsible for transporting them to and from school.

I know that there is no way that you could realistically homeschool Jake at this point, given your and Paul's schedules. But situations like this are just a few of the reasons that I'm thinking that Ty will go to private school if we still live here in Vegas by the time he's school aged.

Seriously, I would call and give the TV news stations a tip... I think that they would LOVE this story and that it might force the district into some action at least surrounding the bus overcrowding if not the total lack of control and role modeling from the driver.

Beth,

I know it's not much consolation, but my college boyfriend did something stupid one night and ended up punching a wall... to make a long story short, he ended up in the exact same situation as Adam--needing surgery to put a pin in. Honestly, I was scared too, but it was really no big deal at all, and the physical therapy wasn't too bad either.

Adam will be fine--he's a boy, and boys are tough, especially teenage boys! He'll get through this and so will you.

Although I don't blame you for being worried: especially about the prospect of having to continue to be his homework secretary and taking dictation for the next several weeks!:lmao:

Hi Everyone!!!!!!
I thought I read a week or so ago one of you was looking for LGMH's. I was by Home Depot this past weekend and grabbed a few extras. If anyone is still in need of one let me know and I can mail one to you.

Hope you all are doing well....you are a chatty bunch so I can't keep up. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you in a few weeks. Call me crazy but I'm a little nervous too. :scared1: We finally hit the TEENS today. We leave in 19 days.

party:

I just picked up a couple off the LGMH's a few days ago! I am so excited! I can't wait to be in the teens! Only a few more days to go!

Sarah

I just haven't figured out what to do with them yet. I'm not that creative...I will probably one in my lanyard.

That is just *SO* wrong what happened to your son on the bus!
What a powerless feeling to experience for both you and your son, *tight hugs*...i am so very sorry this happened.

You must Document what happened. 1st with the principal, right away. 2nd with photos if you can. 3rd. with the school board. 4th file a complaint with the state.

This is very serious for different reasons. Bus safety is perilous at best. Each child must have the basic right of a seat. {don't even get me started as WHY don't they have seatbelts?!}

Child bullying is dangerous ground and can escalate quickly. Once a victim is picked the children who pick on them spread because of peer pressure to fit in.

I am So Very Sorry this has happened.. it is just so very *wrong*.

This may sound like a dufus post.. but oh well i'm a dufus.:rotfl:

I'm making a list of the designated money i need to bring for certain things..

Does anyone know the amounts to fill in for these?

Can you all think of anything else like this?:confused3
Thank You for your help.:upsidedow

Amy~ Are there camera's on the bus? I know that our buses have camera's. In our district the school & bis driver is liable for the student until they get home. I would file a complaint with school district. There should be another bus if there are too many kids on a bus. It is not safe for kids to be sitting on the floor or standing. Then I would go speak to the childs parents & maybe file a complaint. If they are doing this now it can only get worse as they get older. I am sorry for your son going through this. Kids can be so mean & cruel.

Stacie~ I will bring 2 bottles....I think boys just really suck sometimes...

Not a dufus, I'm trying to figure things out now too!!!!

the Pizza Party committee is still finalizing costs, but it will be between $8 and $10. For the tips for the tours, I would budget 20% of the cost of the tour (but bring change because if they suck they're getting less--at least from me!)

So does anyone know if we are specifically doing cash at certain restaurants due to the large group or are we all doing seperate checks?

Beth: do you know what kind of anesthesia they are going to give him? When I broke my wrist a few years ago and had to have pins inserted they gave me something called a "bier block"--it wasn't a general (although I did get "twilight sleep" and wasn't awake at all too. But generally they did something to my arm that was less than a full general. So you might ask about alternatives.

Hugs to you and your family--it will be fine--wait and see. And being a boy he probably won't even notice it!;)

I work in a children's hospital and those type of surgeries are common place. Not to take it lightly, but its a routine thing. I know its easy for me to say since its not my child and all. Although anything can happen and I know thats what you are worried about, chances are slim to none that it will. It will be fine. Don't let it strees you out too much.
Thanks, I appreciate the reassurance.

It is so important for us to take care of ourselves in order to be able to take care of our families and we as moms so infrequently do that because of guilt that we aren't "being there" for our families. :grouphug:
You got that right. Mommy-guilt. It's a powerful thing!

Keep his hand elevated, give him advil or alieve, and maintaim his pain control so that he can recover quickly.
Thanks for that advice. I will give him the Advil and help myself to the rest of my Vicodin. :thumbsup2

About the weather....I'm trying to stay positive. But when we went to Disney in October it was around 100 degrees, hotter than it was in Vegas! so I am goung to plan for anything and hope for the best.
If it's anywhere near 100 degrees, I'm gonna.......well, I don't know what I'm gonna do, but it won't be pretty!

Where is he having it done?

Thanks, he's having it done at the Seven Hills Surgery Center in Henderson. It's early in the morning so Ruben is taking the day off and will take him in while I stay home to get the girls ready for school. I want to be there but that would mean keeping everyone home and taking them all with us. Not sure that's a good idea. Plus if I'm there I will be freaking out and crying. Probably not a good thing for Adam to see.

Anyway, that is unbelievable what happened to your son!!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious: Seriously, when I read that I alternated between wanting to cry at the thought of any child hiding behind a car crying in fear. :sad2: And rage at wanting to strangle that bus driver and those other stupid kids with my bare hands.

Oh man, I can't imagine. I'd be outraged. I'm so sorry you and your son are dealing with this. What is wrong with people these days????? I cannot believe the school is allowing this to happen. Kids sitting on the aisle of the bus??? That has got to be breaking some sort of law.
I hope you are able to make some progress with this. I wish you lots of luck. :grouphug:
