Tonight was a special dinner.
Steak in olive oil fried up with scissors I cut strips of small red and yellow peppers and onions then slathered with Emeril's Italian herbs, pepper, and salt. I drained on paper towel and served with the strips on pepper and onion on top. Fried in olive oil potatos O'Brien with spices the when brown added left over canned corn. Two pans and pretty fancy but the house now smells of sweet onions, peppers, and spices. Rather nice.

that is my food porn for the night, lol.
Sounds good!

Sorry you don't get them anymore.

We just happened to catch it, as my DH was looking for a good movie to watch. DH promptly fell asleep, and I was a happy camper! :goodvibes

ahh...so you got to watch it in peace!!

Hi ladies!

I skipped church again. I have not been to church for almost two months! I teach in the sunday school and I feel so bad. Between being sick, then Maddie being sick, then vacations---it just isn't working out for me on Sundays. My future sister in law had her bridal shower today. Well, as much as I did not want to miss another sunday of church, I felt i had to go because this is my future sister in law. KWIM? Anywho....talk about awkward...

I totally understand. I teach sunday school too and I either miss church because of that or I'm working a city event. I don't know if your church has this but mine puts the pastor's sermons on the web. If you care to check out mine http://www.calvarygateway.org/sermons.html

I bet the boys had interesting arrangements.

Three in the bed and it's so funny because those three are what you would call "manly men" so they were like "DON'T TOUCH ME!" :lmao:
Two were on the floor and one slept in the tub. :rotfl:

I wouldn't mind checking on some rooms. I know when I have tried to check before you usually have to wait till closer to summer for after next year but I can at least check to see which ones have conference rooms and breakfasts etc.

I know that DI doesn't have a conference room but it DOES have a breakfast.

I stayed at the Ramada Inn Main Gate and that one is really nice and larger and has a breakfast as well. I could check on that one as well as BWPPI.

I know for me I didn't mind being at a different one cuz at least I had mom but I wouldn't want to be by myself so I def see Linda's point. I would want to be at the same hotel if I was by myself. And I am with Beth. I need a bed to myself cuz I am a bed HOG lol and mom and I usually just share a room together cuz I have so many medical deals that I don't want to have to trouble anyone. Sometimes I can end up being in the bathroom half the night (sorry tmi I know) but I would just rather have a room with just her and then I don't have to worry about inconveniencing anyone by keeping them up or anything. But otherwise I am up for sharing a hotel or staying at a couple or whatever works.

I am all for calling around and getting back to you guys. That's the LEAST I can do since I didn't do much this year! :)

Oh and LOVE corned beef and cabbage. And I usually DO do the cabbage just for the flavor and dh eats it but I don't. Hate the stuff LOL but I add red potatoes, carrotts and the cabbage and then he eats it and believe it or not the girls even eat it and then I like dijon mustard. YUM. It just takes FOREVER to cook.

Anyway off to watch AR tonight. Have fun chatting and see yall tomorrow. :)

Kelly if you could do some hotel investigation that would be GREAT. and I'm definitely going to try dijon mustard on my corned beef--sounds good! i didn't cook it today. Mom said she and ines can cook it "fresh" on Tuesday. i did however marinate cornish game hens with leftover wine from yesterday's party (white and red) mixed with kitchen bouquet, bouquet garnis, herbes de provence, garlic, salt, teriyaki, soy sauce and Worscestershire (did I spell that right). It's a "recipe" that my mom makes based on this French restaurant (alas, no longer around) that we used to go to as a child. It's really good --it does turn the game hens darkish colored but it tastes SO good! So they'll marinate till tomorrow afternoon and then the caregiver can post them in the oven.

There were some gifts that made me want to sear out my eyes with a hot knife. I mean, this is my brother we are talking about here. I don't want to know what she plans on doing with him on their wedding night or what she is going to wear. Gah...my mom was there too. I think she wanted to crawl under a rock. She also got some adult entertainment, if you kwim. Not that I am against any of that. I am down with being romantical...but I just don't want to think of my baby bro doing any of that.:crazy2:

It could be worse--it could be a shower for your mom's second wedding, right? (not yours particularly, but can you imagine?) We had a couple of "interesting" items at our shower yesterday -- the most interesting being what appeared to be a male's g-string with a rooster on the front of it. It came with a note saying "for when the "rooster" wants to crow" (substitute rooster with a four-letter word that would get censored on this site). the next part of the gift had a note that said 'when you have a headache, wear this" and it was a pair of "fat panties." Lastly was a gift that said: "if the panties don't work you will need this" and it was a baby outfit!! it was really funny. The bride put on the panties with the g-string over it--I have definite blackmail photos now.

This should give all the ladies perspective on how close & far some hotels are from the DLR.

I'm liking how close BWPPI is! :thumbsup2

I am glad I sit on my bed and not a chair, WOW, that startled me. I am waiting to see if I can get an ECV first. I could offer rides to some ladies but the car is a bit old and rusty. Has brakes and goes, what more do you want. Got insurance and license so that is all I need and one of the air fresheners.

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to chime in on the accommodations discussion. I say we try to coordinate staying in the same place or two places. I stayed with the ladies this year and last year was at Residence Inn all by myself. I much preferred staying at HoJos with the group, so if we could coordinate I think it's more fun and safe.

I'm thinking maybe we have an onsite and and offsite option. Chances are decent that we'd get a good AP rate at PPH or DLH. And for the offsite option, I think HoJo's is the best value.

Here are my thoughts on a couple other offsite hotels that I've stayed in:

-Fairfield: didn't like it as much as HoJo, to be honest. The room seemed smaller (although that could be because I was with the messy family rather than one very tidy Tracey ;) ) and it was more expensive. I vote HoJo over the Fairfield, even if they were the same price, which I think they're not.

-Residence Inn: Now I think this is a great place and they have nice big rooms/suites like condos, in great condition with full kitchens. Breakfast is awesome, pool is pretty nice. Only drawback was the walk to the park. It was probably twice as long (although felt longer) as HoJo and that might be a deal breaker. Although it is right near the Garden Walk.

I've also stayed in Sheraton Park and the other Sheraton. Both nice enough, but not close enough to the park. I don't know about any of the other Harbor Blvd places.

So, I think I'm leaning towards onsite option and HoJo option.

I'd better get to bed now. I've caught the "crud" bug my DS had last week and it had me pretty much napping and doing nothing all day today.

Here's to a great new week!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Good news...I just booked the timeshare for October. Its on Katella.
Bad news...Laramie still wants to come. But that's ok. I guess...he does own half of the points. So we will be there 10/19 - the following Monday.

I agree with grizbuzz about one onsite group and one offsite group. The main problem is transportation.

What if one of us rented a van for the week at say $200 and transported people around. I have a disabled placard and some ladies might have one and you could be dropped off in 15 minute parking then the van driver parks in Timon. Two or three runs would cover everyone. Also dropped off at Downtown Disney and walk around Rainforest and take monorail to Tomorrowland.

I keep going to the bathroom and the hallway still smells of steak dinner. I wish I could put that smell in a can, eau de bifsteak.:lmao: My SID quirk is that I love cooked peppers and onions so that is why I am obsessing over the smell.

I saw this quoted and replied to, but went back 3 full pages and didn't see it to quote directly and 3 pages is about my limit for reading backwards, LOL...

I totally understand.

My brother was married at 22, and pretty much everyone was invited to SIL's shower b/c they got married right out of college in their college town (in their college chapel...Duke University, so, yeah, I understand why they did that!) and everyone was an out of towner.

Well, her close friends (and her MOM) decided to do it like a naughty shower, but didn't tell anyone else, so me, my mom, and my stepdad (mom and stepdad being VERY Christian...and of course this was for their wedding night and beyond so THAT part of it was OK but the content of some of the things was just beyond their conservative comfort zone) were just squirming throughout the shower. Those people should have had their own shower for her and had the more innocent, without the raunchy jokes about *my baby brother!!!!!*, instead of making it open for anyone. :headache:

Anyway, I understand. :)

just shocked and amazed that the thread actually slept for a few hours.....even divas need their sleep now and then... :)

Don't know how a van would work out with people going into the park and leaving at all different times. All the of hotel have the shuttle bus service, so if anyone stays a bit too far to walk that would be the way to go. It's not expensive.

*hugs*
Thank you, Kelly, Debra and Melody.
