Does anyone know why this is $150? I know you get shoes, but it still seems like an expensive fee for something that uses volunteers. We can afford it, so we will pay, but I have never had to pay that much for anything that my kids have joined!

I wonder if this is just a Michigan thing.... It's a program where the girls talk about self esteem and they also run. It culminates in a 5K run after about 10 weeks. I was just frustrated that it costs $150. It does cost only $5 for those that can't afford it, and on up from there on a gradual scale. We can afford the $150, but it doesn't mean I like spending that much money when comparable things that my daughter has join cost way less than that (basketball, swim lessons, softball, soccer, girl scouts).

I'm not familiar with this program, but I'd guess that there is organizational overhead costs (think CEO's, fundraising departments, accountants and all that stuff -- I know that Girl Scouts has all that sort of infrastructure and I'd guess that this type of organization might too), and I'd bet there is liability insurance that they pay, etc.

My friend's daughter did this and really loved it, but I had no idea it was so expensive!

I heard of them for the first time at the womens fitness festival this year. I got their literature but didnt look into it as we're moving. I had no idea they cost that much!

I am not familiar with the program, but a "real" pair of running shoes will cost at minimum $90. Hope that helps in understanding the cost.

I am still trying to figure out why our rec league soccer cost $75. We got a shirt that was sponsored by a local business, a pair of socks, and the ability to play on a soccer field twice a week (one game, one practice) for 10 weeks. All of the coaches and refs were volunteers. I just keep thinking that has to be one expensive field to maintain.
