*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Theresa... ever thought of moving to America? See i'm not on farmtown but i can plant seeds.

So I'm worried.. on my way back from san francisco..i have to transfer through LAX... and i've never ever done that.. i always avoid that airport because it's soooooOOoo big. But now I have to change planes there. I'm flying on southwest. Has anyone changed planes with southwest through LAX.. are the gates close and in the same terminal?

Dawn - that is so funny!!!! I just mentioned on FB that when Frank and I were talking in the pool last night, he mentioned that he thinks he wants to move to LA or LV We shall see.............. I think it would be too hard on Jesse though. He's in high school and everything would be so different. Maybe after he graduates??

Don't worry about LAX. I'm a total wuss and I have flown in and out of there several times and managed to live through it The TSA and customs guys are a little skeery there though (kind of take themselves very seriously, KWIM????).

Dawn don't let LAX scare you. I have flown in and out of that airport many times. It is no biggie. Just ask the flight attendants before you land if you can where your connecting gate is and they should be able to help you. If you have a close connection you can always ask for one of those golf carts to help you!!

We are flying in to Denver this time for our connection which is a new one for me and also Baltimore so not sure how big that one is either.

Second the LAX info...I personally dislike LAX and that's probably due to the fact that I can use Burbank which is just the best small airport. I can arrive an hour before my flight and have no issues...ok back to LAX - with a connection you should be fine and you won't have to go back through security which is the biggest nightmare at LAX IMHO.

Denver is fine too Kelli - All of SW gates are in the same terminal so it's easy breezy but you won't get a chance to go into the 'circus tent' which I think is the best part of the DEN airport! I've flown into Baltimore on SW too and it's a very easy airport to get around too so I think you'll be fine in your airport hopping!

We took the helicoper over last time and it was really neat. This time it will be the boat. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. We are planning on doing the same things as you did, and two tours as well. Luau Larry's is always great for a drink!

We had a blast at Luau Larry's. We actually had breakfast there first. We ate in the cave. It was fun. Breakfast was a buffet. Is was just so-so but it was all you can eat for $8.00 so we filled up for the day.

Where do you all stay when you stay over night? This sounds like a fun thing to do for Bob's BD in Oct.

We've never stayed the night, just day trips, but I want to see about renting a house or getting a hotel room so we can stay a few days.

When DBF and I went we hung out at Luau Larry's. They have a drink called a Wiki Wacker that comes with a free straw hat and a bumber sticker that says "I got my Wiki Wacked at Luau Larry's"

Kelly, glad to hear you got your doctor's ok for your trip. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow to get some medicine because I'm still sick and I have to leave for Canada.

Dawn, I guess you have to go through LAX? Because Burbank is much easier and smaller. You should call up the airlines and make sure you have enough time to do your changeover. If you are not going overseas, I would think SW is in the same terminal. SW has the new system that I like, where you line up exactly according to your number, so there is no pushing like cattle.

I think we will be staying the night or the weekend not sure where yet but I won't be alone...maybe I'll come to your room! We'll be there for DBF's DS's 13th BD. I will be looking forward to lunch on Sat. with my favorite people and it'll give me a good excuse to bow out for an hour or two.

Wishing you better luck then I am having with my daughter's private loan this year! We were able to get the loan no problem the past two years. About two weeks ago they said that they could not loan her the money this year...ugh! I am not sure what they expect us to do...they lend us enough to get her through two years and then we are left high and dry for her Junior year. How can she begin to pay it back if she doesn't have a degree? So we are scrambling to find other options. Being 'single' I can't afford to pay it outright now so we have to find a loan somehow and of course I make too much money to get any federal money...funny how that happens, I don't make enough to pay for it myself but I make too much for federal money.

I really hope you hear soon and that they approve because it's not fun looking at alternatives!

Have fun! The last time I was anywhere near Catalina was last year and we went kayaking around one of the other islands...it was fun but not exactly a 'spa type'/relaxing trip! It was a lot of work!

Hey, if people want to go four to a room, I'd be in for staying at GC for the Sept. mini meet! Let me know! I wouldn't be able to do it otherwise.

Day two of the exam is all done! I'm happy to be done, not terribly confident at the outcome, but I gave it my best.

Gearing up to go to MN. After alot of back and forth, we are now flying after all. Got last minute deals that made it cheaper to fly than drive. I can't wait, especially now that I'm done with the exam.

Heading to the beach on Sunday, if anyone wants to join us! Wanna get some beach time in before we go.

Michelle glad your test is over and I am sure you did fine. Have fun in Minnesota as I know you will! I think we will be gone about the same time. I can't remember when you leave but we leave Wed and won't be back till the following Thurs night so if I don't talk to you before have fun!

Well today is Friday. I wish I could say it is my last day of work before our trip but it isn't. Have to work Monday as well. But it IS the last day of VBS and then tonight they have a carnival at the church so we are doing that. Then tomorrow Shane has to go take a test and Lynn supposedly is going out with yet ANOTHER new guy. She still hasn't heard back on her job yet although she thinks she got it. It does seem odd to me though that it is taking this long to hear back. Her interview was on Tues. Doesn't seem like a good sign but we shall see.

Anyway then as I said Sunday we have the VBS wrap up at church and I guess going to Shane's cousin for the house warming party. Otherwise that's bout it. I did go ahead and get pretty much packed even though I haven't picked up my meds yet. They FINALLY called me last night and said they were ready and I am going to pick them up on my way in to work today. This morning nature finally took it's course and it is hurting me again and of course I don't have the medicine and then I won't be able to use it once I get it cuz I will be on my way to work so I don't know HOW long it will be before I know if this stuff is actually going to WORK or not so I will know if I can go on this trip but at this point it is getting so close I am pretty much going to have to HOPE it does!

Anyway I am off here in a minute to workout and then take the girls to church and go to work. Hope everyone has a GREAT day today and a good weekend if I don't talk to you!

Dawn-Hugs & hope you have safe travels on your trip. LAX isn't really that bad. I've been there several times & as long as it's only a layover and you don't have to go through security or leave the terminal it will be fine. All of the Southwest flights will be in the same terminal so you won't have to go too far.

I'm getting ready for the day. Going to a funeral today, but have a lot of errands to run before the weekend. We leave on Sunday to go to Northern Cali and the bay area for a week.

I just hope the baby does okay on such a long car ride. But I think she may do better than my older DD. I'm all set with gathering all the electronics to bring in the car (portable DVD's, handheld game systems & CD's), plus a bunch of magazines and books for the kids.

Happy Friday everyone!

We might go to DL this weekend but we'll see. We finally have a weekend where we are not traveling and the kids are dying to go to DL. I'm game...of course I'm always game for DL!!

Next weekend we are going to Seattle and Victoria. It should be fun...we are going with Bob's parents and his dad is one of those types that has to be hours early at the airport, ferry port, everything and on the other hand Bob is never early, sometimes on time but most often late. Bob's DD is not happy to be going on the family trip because she is missing out on some friend events and she is behind in your Honors History and says she has to do homework the entire time we are on the trip...hmmmm that should be fun too! I have a feeling I'll need all of my patience for this trip. I'll just take my Ipod and plug in and smile away at whatever happens! I can't wait to visit Victoria because I've heard so much about it.

Thanks I love to travel and it seems like I always have some kind of trip in the plans! After next weekends trip I think the only trips I'll be making for a couple of months is to DL but then in Oct. I am going back to Denver to visit and have my sister cut and color my hair. A long distance hair dresser might get expensive but I love the way she does my hair and I can't seem to find anyone here who I like as well and besides it's a good excuse to visit my 'home'!
