*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Mike is frantically applying for jobs & needs to secure work before we can find a rental. Just looking for a few prayers that something comes thru & we can finally know what it is we're supposed to be doing (tired of living in limbo)

What does he do? Or rather, what can he do and what does he want to do? Maybe we can think about the various places there are in that area, come up with some ideas?

Hey Molly! Great to see you! How're things going?

Hi January! Congrats on your accomplishments! Good luck for the next 18 months!

Glenn is at the 3rd job interview for this place he wants to work. The interview started almost 2 hours and I haven't heard from him. As soon as it hits the 2 hour mark I am calling! Hope things went well!

Sarah

Just got off the phone with dh and he said the interview went ok and that he is supposed to find out this week. Fingers crossed please, this would be a great thing for our family as far as family time together is concerned.

Thanks,
Sarah

Well, good morning ladies!!! I've been slaving away making pancakes for everyone. Help yourself to a plate. ;) These are calorie free. lol

My doc appt isn't until later this afternoon so I have time to hang out and dread it all day. YAY.
Hope you all have a good day and I'll catch ya later. :)

Those look yummy!

How'd it go at the doctors?

Wow those SW airfares are great! I really want to fly somewhere now! I was checking for a RT ticket from Burbank to Vegas and it would only cost me $60!:thumbsup2 I wish the purchasing window was longer because I don't have money right now.

When are you going to Vegas again?

Hola chicas!

Once again, I have not read back...so I am soooo lost.:headache: Any new info? I guess I can take my lazy behind to the front page.

Soooo, I am just sitting here getting some of my finals done. Yes, finals. I am getting my Associate's on July 12th. Woot!:banana:Then I start my Bachelor's on July 28th. 18 more months and I will be a teacher.:teacher:

Congrats to you! Its a lot of hard work being a mom and going to school. Good luck when you start back!

Debra---I don't get any good deals either. I was looking at Boise to Orlando. THAT is tempting! I have never flown to Orlando for less than $350 RT.

I hope you all are well... BIG hugs for all of you.:grouphug:

WAY TO GO!!! That's something to celebrate! Enjoy that little break you get before starting your Bachelors. I would give anything to be able to go back to school :(

Thanks Sarah! I know that the next 1 1/2 years is going to FLY by! I am really looking forward to finally being done.

And I hope your DH gets this job! Two hours at a job interview?

Thanks Stacie!

You should totally look into going back. Even though you work and have a son...you can always find a way. Even if it is one class at a time.:thumbsup2

When are you going to Vegas again?

We're aiming for the last weekend of October. It's all still really iffy but I like researching for possible vacations. If it doesn't work out I might splurge for a night at the DLH or the GC.

Does anyone know or have an estimate at how much the nightly rate would be in early November? I want to stay either on Nov. 1st or Nov. 2nd.

Right now the AP rates are only shown up to October and the rates are pretty high. I know that October is now a lot more popular because of the Halloween activities. The rate for a night in September at the DLH is really low at $139!:thumbsup2 But in October the rates are between $243 - $270! :scared1:
I would love a low rate but I won't know until next month.

So.....I'm at work....still. I have 5 hours to go and my eyes are drooping hard core! I don't know how I will possibly stay awake! And I have to get up early again tomorrow for work though I only have to work 8 hours tomorrow instead of 16. Sorry if my topics of conversation are fairly limited right now. My experiences don't vary much right now.

I wish I could....my company offers such an incredible reimbursement program so it would be a huge benefit for me. I just can't afford it up front right now. I am already having to look into taking Ayden out of his private school. Since his dad continues to work under the table and not lend a dime to help with his schooling it's leaving me no choice. I'd pay for Ayden's tuition before mine.

Sarah I hope you can hang in there just a tad bit longer. Think of the sweet moolah you are making.

Don't worry about keeping us entertained...just focused on keeping those ojos open.

Well, 100% of my schooling is either pell grants or straight up loans. School is costing me about $12000 a year. And tuition is going up.:sad2: I understand about the not affording. Unfortunately, I have no skills without school.

Soo frustrating about Ayden's dad.:headache:

Laurie ~ Good luck with everything. I hope it all comes together for you so you are able to move to where you need and want to be.

Kelly ~ LOL! That story of you at the doc's with the kids was too funny. The things we have to go through. I tell ya!

Dawn ~ I'm glad you (and others here) got to take advantage of that SW deal. $700 is a huge savings!!

Callie ~ Good to see you. Good luck getting settled in and enjoy that wonderfully cool weather.

Cheryl ~ Sorry about the computer/internet troubles. Hope they are resolved quickly.

January ~ Good to see you here! Don't worry, you aren't missing much planning. Everyone is busy with life right now, plus it's hard to plan very much when it's still so far away. I did book a room at Hojo. The ET rate came out for most of the trip dates.
Congrats on all your accomplishments with school. You're going to be an awesome teacher!

Molly ~ Good to see you! Pop in more often.

Sarah ~ My fingers are crossed for your DH! And I honestly don't know how you work so much. I'm lazy. No way could I do that.

Stacie ~ The doc appt went ok. I had a bunch of labs done and find out those results in two weeks. Plus still waiting on the mammo results. I avoided the doctor(s) for a long time so now I'm making up for lost time and doing all those tests and labs that most people keep up with.

I sort of feel the same way! Hang in there:)

Hi Ladies! Sorry I haven't had much time to check in. We're here on Whidbey and staying at my dad's house. The truck with all our stuff arrives tomorrow morning so we can start the process of moving in.

Obviously I've missed out on a lot, but I am curious about some trivet that Tina got that I am sure has something to do with OUR boyfriend! Anyone want to fill me in on what I missed?

I'm sure I'll be busy again with the unpacking for another week or so, then hopefully I'll be back at it here on the Dis again!

Love and hugs to all you gals! I miss you!

-Callie

Welcome to town! I'm lovin the nice cool weather of the last few days, but did enjoy the sunshine on the weekend. Went floating down the Stillaguamish a couple of times with some nice cold beer and threw some meat on the bbq. Life was good I tell you!

Quick Hello to everyone. We are thinking of booking SW to Minnesota. It is $120 roundtrip, which is great, but connecting flights which sucks!

Molly (and others)
Mike is looking at going back to meat cutting (he was a journeyman meat cutter for years)....its great pay if he can get in somewhere. Fred Meyer & Safeway are both hiring meat cutters in that area now, so hopefully one of them will call.
The other area he's looking is in the hospitals. Salem Hospital has a program that they will pay you to work & train to become a CNA 1 & 2. (paid during school). He really would like to get his nurses degree (he was a paramedic for 10 yrs). But a foot in the door at the hospital would be a step in the right direction.

I think our biggest obstacle right now is the economy. Jobs are tight & lots of people looking....... Just looking for a spark to get this fire going!

Thanx everyone
