*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

I have a dermatologist appt later on to have some moles checked out. I'm nervous because I've noticed some changes in some of them and I just hope those years of tanning haven't caught up with me in a bad way. :sad2:

I've been trying to take care of my health lately. Getting lots of tests done. Pap, mammo, skin cancer/mole check, regular physical, dental work, etc. All over the next three weeks.
I know it's needed but man, I hate the stress and worry that comes along with waiting for appts and test results!!! Oh well, I guess if something is wrong, better to know and try to take care of it. Wish me luck. I'll be tense the next month or so until it's all done.

I'll be praying for you big time! I know what it's like with some of those things. I had a couple of abnormal pap tests and had to get some unpleasant treatments, but this past one came back fine. You just need to have faith that everything will be okay. I try to never worry about anything unless I know for a fact that there is something to be concerned about... then I try to focus positive energy rather than worry. It's so hard though. I say these things while giving advice, it's even harder to try to do them. And of course, you know you always have a safe place to vent those frustrations  All is well. :flower3:

We took Nathan for testing to make sure he qualifies for the research project. It will give us a week of intense therapy for free (normally 5 grand!). It's a mixed blessing to me though, it's great that he qualifies for the project, but sucks that he has autism to begin with. What on earth do I do with all of these emotions? He's been repeating and echoing a lot the last few days also. It's heartbreaking to see new symptoms pop up. Hopefully, they are just a phase.

Where's Molly when you need her? DH and I are fixing to take one for the team. You all might have to deal with my cravings this Oct or Feb. Pray for us that things go well. You all might think we're crazy, but we want one more, and there is never a perfect time, and we aren't getting any younger. Oh, and while you're praying, if you could mention that we want a girl, that would be great! :thumbsup2

That's about it, can't decide if I want to join the exchange, but I know I probably will.

Talk with you all later!

Heather

 Hugs and prayers for you too Heather. I have a great story about a child with autism... I've been seeing a cranial sacral therapist lately for problems caused by a head injury when I was 14. She's also a physical therapist and she used to work at a place that used horses for therapeutic purposes, especially for children with autism. There was this one boy who began treatment with the horses at age three, right after diagnosis. She said at the beginning of treatment, he was in the most severe state of autism she'd ever seen. He was almost catatonic... he had no idea someone was even there most of the time and they built a special saddle and harness for him... then placed him on a horse for 30 minute sessions. At age 3 1/2 he said his first words, "I'm afraid," as he was about to be put onto the horse. Everyone was overjoyed, even though he was afraid... he elicited a response! They limited the horseback session to 10 minutes then Theresa (my therapist) would take him inside and do cranial sacral work on him. She put him on a bean bag in front of a mirror and gave him markers to color on the mirror. He loved it and was scribbling away. Within about 15 seconds of her beginning the cranial sacral therapy with him, he began to write words on the mirror (at age 3 1/2, and remember that he had spoken for the first time only about 20 minutes before hand). She took away her hands from him and he began to scribble again, then she started therapy again and he wrote more words. Then she said, "can you write horse" and he did! She erased all of it and when the boy's mom got there she demonstrated the phenomenon and they were both in tears. I got choked up when she told me the story.

I just thought I'd share that... it's a great feel-good story!

Baby *girl* dust heading your way Heather!:wizard:

We want another too...we have to wait, though.:guilty:

Ditto to wishing Heather girl magic and to wanting to have another myself, but not yet. Between changes going on at my job and Dave's job in addition to the salary cuts we are going to be taking starting in July, now is NOT the time. But, D and I have agreed to start trying this time next year, and I really, really, really want a girl!

What? Huh? Here!

Here in San Diego, with E, getting out of Robert's way while he works his bootay off. He originally accepted a one month contract with the m-soft, and impressed them so much that 2 weeks later they've extended it through August, and everyone is talking in a good way about urging that he be hired directly. He's working hard and we figured we might as well go elsewhere, so he doesn't feel guilty!

Meanwhile he's had his boy-analysis done, and the result of that is that he gets to take HCG injections, to raise his manly hormone levels. Poor dude. Though I think he thinks it's funny, that he'll be doing what Manny Ramirez got in trouble for (same drug). Turns out he's making healthy "swimmers", just not very many of them.

And it's all related to the pituitary thing, that's been going on for awhile but everyone has ignored his symptoms, that he's starting treatment for as well (probably started last night, half a pill per WEEK).

So though I'm still interested in taking one for the team, it's probably awhile off still.

So good luck Heather!

I'm glad Robert is going to be starting treatment soon. I laughed when you mentioned HCG injections because I was thinking the same thing what you where about Manny Ramirez.

Wow, Bridgette (b:eek:bear!! :rotfl:), what a wonderful story. Truly amazing.

Oh Heather, big super hugs to you! With everything! I'll be saying prayers for you. I hope to hear that you'll be expecting very soon! You go, girl!! :cloud9: :lovestruc :yay:

Thanks! I hope everything happens quickly, I'm not the patient type. lol

Oh come on, I want someone to commiserate with! You sure you aren't ready for another?!?!

OH Molly, that job sounds so promising! I know you don't pray, but I sure hope that it's going to work out for you. Your DH sounds like a riot about the injections. It is ironic isn't it? I pray (it's what I do) that things work out well for you.

I was so hoping to be on this journey with you. You can still take one for the team before me. There are no guarantees in this endeavor!

It took us 2 years, and several losses to get Nathan, and then Nolan was our first time post Nathan surprise! :lmao: One never knows....

What a great story! Yes, when Nathan turns 3 I'm going to look into horseback therapy. I bet he'll love it! Our speech therapist works at our local therapy farm. She thinks Nathan will do well with it also.

Hi Jane! It's hard to wait isn't it? I've been wanting another since last fall. I really think that if this one is a girl, then I will be finished. I don't know though! I had a dream last week that I was pregnant with quads! :scared1: I don't know what I would do if that happened!

Are things settling at all with your job? I've been thinking of you lots!

I said for years that I would NEVER want a baby after I was 40...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha (that's supposed to sound like the guy in Princess Bride after taking the iocaine powder), I'll take one!

Oh I'll see if I can get permission to post about his convo with the endo guy. Let's just say there was a bit of confusion over where he will be injecting himself (the proper answer is...gluteal muscles). :rotfl:

The best part of the HCG stuff is that he'll actually *want* to do what needs to be done for TTC. His endo was amazed that things *could* be done, he figured that the levels of male hormones were actually too low for anything, and the endo expected that NOTHING was being made...

So much TMI here...

Gotta go swim with the boy-o! On top of how wonderful my brother and SIL are, they have a pool in their backyard!

Speaking of "babies"--Bella turns four months tomorrow. Here's a pic from today in my office:

:rotfl: My DH is a nurse, but I can see the 'typical' man being confused! How funny! Yeah, well you see the things I'm reading about that are suppose to help have a girl. Talk about people telling TMI! :rotfl2:

I'm so glad you added the parenthetical!

and I will add Baby pixie dust for Molly, Heather and Jane (when she wants it) too!

You sure Bella doesn't need a sister or brother? ;)

OMGosh! She's getting soooo big! What a sweetie.

Aww I wish Bella could come to RFC too!

So does she!

:rotfl:

OMGosh! She's getting soooo big! What a sweetie.

Actually, I thought today that I should have gotten one of her brothers too. That way they could play together and tire each other out. Oh well--but she is a sweetie (most of the time . . . . )

Well the doctors told my parents they were having a boy..... my name was John Joel since that ultrasound until SURPRISE, it's a girl! I grew up with blue wallpaper, but they got me a pink bed spread when I graduated from my crib.

Yeah, I think the next time we get a dog, it wil be dog(s). I want a fawn and black pug. I've had both in the past, but never at once! I can just hear the snorting now....

Surprise!! :rotfl2: My parents didn't even have an u/s with me back in the early 70's. It's amazing the things they can do now to check on babies, and save them. I need to get a job in a NICU again. That might help ease some of baby urges...then again, it might make them worse!

Morning ladies!!

I hope you all have a good day. I'm closing the exchange sign ups late this evening so if you are thinking of joining, you still have today to sign up.

Later ladies! :)

Well at least you know you'll be healthy for our next trip! You've already got the weight loss and exercise thing down.

Good evening ladies
Not feeling my best so although my parents and Anais are walking to Lowe's, I'll be staying home probably watching television or something.

Tomorrow they're coming to put carpet on both sets of stairs, upstairs hallway and my parent's room. If they are able to get a mattress this weekend they could technically be in their own room by Sunday! Then it will be just Anais in I in our room! :dance3: It's been too long!

I applied for my private loan through Sallie Mae and I wouldn't have qualified if my dad didn't cosign the loan. This is the time I really appreciate my parents' great credit!

I'm off to eat dinner!

I just was accepted for a student loan from Wells Fargo and I got an amazing interest rate thanks to my dad's credit score! Seeing as how I made my dad promise not to give me a dime for my grad school tuition, I'll need the help. They're always so generous. I love my parents so much and it sounds like you're are amazing as well :goodvibes

and speaking of parents... my mom just told me that they have a big treat for me on Saturday (my open house is 2-5 and my going away party is at 7:30)... they're having my evening party catered! I studied abroad in Greece in 2006 and the gallery opening was catered by the same restaurant, Santorini Kitchen. Since I've been back, they are the only place I've found where the food tastes like authentic Greek food from the islands. Forget the people wishing me farewell, I want to eat! (just kidding!)

In honor of this fantastic news, I'm going to share my semi-famous photo that was the capstone of my trip. When I got back they plastered that image all over campus to advertise the study abroad program for an entire year. They also sent an email to the entire student body and faculty with that image at the top, which was well over 100,000 people! (IU, Purdue and IUPUI... which is IU and Purdue combined into a community school in Indianapolis)

Bridgette--is that actually Santorini? I saw that on a Giada DeLaurentis special a couple of years ago and have been pining to go there! You have to tell me ALL about it!

She is sooooo cute!

Just got home and I am dead tired! Back to work tomorrow need to be up at 4:30am Ugh!

My daughter started selling ads for High School Cheer fundraiser, thankful that my hubby took her so I could stay home. Sucks that they are the only sport that has to pay for all there fees, camps, and uniforms. It comes close to $1000.00 for the year.

Well off to bed so I can wake up and repeat my day tomorrow!

Good Night Girls!!!!

When my DD was a Songleader, they had to sell ads for their calendar. It was hard. She hit up her dermo, chiro, my work and dad's work. That was it. I think it was a lot more that $1,000. Maybe cause we're in CA. Good luck with that, I am sure she enjoys it a lot. Get some sleep girl, 4:30 am, yikes, that would be very hard for me!
