*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

I'm pretty open to my desserts...I dislike chocolate but LOVE red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting!
Oh yeah, I forgot, I love those too. :thumbsup2

Have fun tonight!! When I lived in MI we'd have bonfires and make smores all the time. I miss those nights.

I planned on cleaning out their closets and pack away winter stuff. So far, I have not made much progess:rotfl2:
Good luck with that!

My assistant's daughter called me a couple of hours ago--Francine was admitted as an emergency to the hospital last night and had her surgery this morning on an emergency basis. The mass they had found was cancer and it has spread--her daughter was too upset to know the full extent of where. In any event she will need chemo and other treatments. Please say a prayer for her and her family.
Oh no. :( Cheryl, I am so sorry to hear that. How sad. I will say a prayer for Francine and her daughter. I hope between the surgery, and the chemo she will beat this and emerge healthy and strong once again.

Today my little sister is sleeping over at the cousins' house and tomorrow the rest of us are going to go over for swim time and some barbecue. Only this week left and I graduate next Friday (6/5).
Sounds like a great time! Almost time for the cap and gown!

Getting ready for the cruise, I am reading the cruise critic boards and finally posting some questions and replying to others a bit.
When do you leave?

Hi, all....it's Michelle, posting under Kelly's username! I wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone.
Hello to you and Kelly! Sounds like a fun time for all.

We did a grad party for 30 on Friday, and today we catered a BBQ for 150. It was a huge success--plenty of yummy food, tons of kids, lots of drinks, etc.:banana:
Tina you are the Cooking and Baking Queen. :worship: :worship: :worship:
Seriously, how do you cook for 150 people? Do you have one of those restaurant kitchens?? I thought this was something you did on the side. Do you have a restaurant or someplace you prepare all this at?

That is so upsetting about Francine. She is a very nice lady. I will be praying for her.

I'm so sorry, CheryL.

Cheryl...so sorry to hear the news about francine. my prayers will be with her and her family.

and everyone else....i can see things are wild as ever around here..i've been laid up for a week and I come back to see the "ball talk" is still in full force.lol. you all crack me up! and i miss you tons!!

I hope her surgery went well.

Hi Amy, good to see you. How are you feeling? Any better?

Well, I'm off to watch Valkyrie with Tom Cruise. We just watched some fireworks they set off at the Red Rock casino that we can see from our upper bedroom window. It was nice. I'm guessing they are for Memorial Day.
Night ladies! Talk to you all tomorrow. :cloud9:

I give you major props for donating blood! I haven't ever been able to for one reason or another! Have fun watching the Indy 500 today! I used to watch the races with my dad too! I hope Dale Jr. does well! Have a fun holiday weekend! :flower3:

Thanks! I saw the bus in the church parking lot this morning and I've really been wanting to donate. I feel very good about it.... I love giving to others. I wish the race was on here too but they have blockouts for Indiana residents. They want us to go to the race. Not going to happen! My man won though, he deserved it!

Only here for a minute but I wanted to comment on:

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
After I had Selena my iron level dropped to around 4. The day after she was born I needed a transfusion and received 2 units of blood. I am eternally grateful to the people who donated my blood.

You are very welcome! I know that if I were ever in a bind, I would appreciate other's as well. It's the least I could do. I've wanted to for a long time but couldn't because I had tattoos, traveled outside the us, surgeries, etc. So this is the first time I've really had gotten the chance. :goodvibes

 Thoughts and prayers her and her family.

Major prayers for Francine coming from Indiana! I'll pray for the best.

Just stopping by to say hello to my favorite Diva's! Seems like I haven't been on the boards in forever. Things have just been really busy around here. We are moving next month. Our lease is up here and instead of jumping into signing another lease we thought we'd look around at our options. We found a beautiful five year old home less than a minute from my work. Kinda a small world but the owner of the home is friends with a family I was a nanny for years ago. We didn't realize that until we got to talking. Anyway...small world.

Today we had our families over for dinner. It was really nice and gosh just makes me so grateful our families are closeby.

Tomorrow Ayden is going to Six Flaggs with his dad. UGH. I am glad he's taking him, I just wish I could trust the man to keep an eye on the kiddo. The man is oblivious and...:sad2: I could go on and on.

Chris and I are making a trip to IKEA so we can take our time without a kiddo begging to leave. LOL We also are going to the cemetary where my granparents and aunt and uncle are. I go every year on Memorial Day to take them flags and clean their headstones. Just a yearly tradition.

Hope you all are well...I'm glad Beth found me on Facebook...at least I know I won't miss any of the trip planning details. Speaking of trip....our December trip is finally less than 200 days away!!! lol :cool1:

I hope everyone is having a good Memorial Day weekend. :goodvibes I'm glad that I get tomorrow off from work. :) I went to Disneyland for a few hours this afternoon. It was crowded but there was a nice breeze so it wasn't scorching hot.

I went to the hat shop on Main Street and noticed they have cute iron-on patches for $2.95/EA. You can purchase them by itself or you can add it on to a customized Mickey ears hat. Here are some pics I took:

They have various Mickey hats and ears that you can choose from. I couldn't take pics because my camera battery died. :( They had pink fluffy ears and they also had a small gold crown with a veil in the back that you can add to the top of the Mickey ears. I thought it was really cute and a neat idea. :goodvibes I bought some patches to iron-on to a tote bag or messenger bag. They would also be great for jeans or a shirt/jacket. Just wanted to share. :wizard:

Just checking in... have a great Memorial Day everyone! I'm headed to my niece's 8th birthday party. :cool1:

Morning ladies
I am up way, way to early!!

What does everyone have planned for today??

We are going to the movies today. One of my nephews stayed over with us last night so he could come with us. Then I have to take him back to my brother's out in San Pedro. Not sure what else we are going to do. We might hang with my brother at his place, but I don't want to be there when the ex comes to pick up the kids. Will probably come home and watch some more movies. Plus, we still have a lot of pizza and cake left over from yesterday.

What do you have planned?

That sounds like fun. What movie are you going to see?

So far we have nothing planned really.
I think we might go bowling or see a movie.
I need to go grocery shopping. I need to start reading Frankenstein.
Not really a whole lot is going on here today.

Oh, I need to grocery shop too.

James and I want to see Star Trek. I think the kids will go see Dance Flick.

I haven't been bowling in a while. Sounds fun.

Good luck with the reading.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!! Today is a day to honor the memory of so many men & women who sacrified their lives so we may live ours.

"I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'll gladly stand up, next to you & defend her still today,
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
GOD BLESS THE USA"!!!! (thank you Lee Greenwood)

Lets also remember the men & women that help & protect us in our towns as they too have laid down their lives to save & shield us. Thank You to our Police, Fire & Emergency Responders.

Wow it seems the 3 day weekend went by so fast. I feel like.. waiiiiitt a minute.. i want a do over.

We are griLLing out again and making sugar free rootbeer ice cream. This is the summer of the griLL and ice cream. Bob is going to try new recipes on the griLL all summer and i'm going to try new ice creams all summer.

See this is the kinda stuff you do when you are empty nesters. :rotfl:

Morning all!

First off Cheryl wanted to say Prayers to Francine and her family!!

Janelle it is good to see you!! I was hoping maybe Michelle and I could see you this weekend but sounds like you have been busy! Maybe next time! :)

Anyway as Michelle said we went to the zoo and fairytale town yesterday and it was fun although unfortunately michelle was under the weather which was too bad for her but I think everyone still had fun.

We then came home and just vegged and had pizza and watched some more videos. It has been a nice kick back weekend.

They are leaving today and then as I said we have to go get Lynn. My parents ended up having the day off which sucks cuz it would have been nice to get together with them since they get so few days off but so be it I guess.

Anyway that's bout it for me. Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks Laurie for remembering the true meaning of today. Since Shane was in the military we usually try to do something to honor the day but weren't able to this year. We usually try to go to a tribute but weren't able to this year. Perhaps next year. They have one at a local cemetery near here and then up where shane is from. Both very poignant and heartfelt. It is nice to remember the vets on this day! :)

Anyway again have a GREAT last day everyone. :)

Happy Memorial Day!

We are taking Maddie to the $3.00 theater to see Earth and then go swimming at my parents and BBQ.:goodvibes

Cheryl----I am so sorry to hear about your assistant. She is in my prayers.

Well...Talk to you all later!
