*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

I never do.........

Heather, I read the recipe. It calls for putting them in the fridge when done. Won't that make them Schwetty? (Is that how you spell it?) :rotfl: OtheR than that, they do sound quite decadent!! :cloud9:

Well, I guess they do get a little Schewetty, but you can dry them off with a towel, and they're good as new. It really buffs them to a high shine. :thumbsup2

:lmao:  :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Howdy Christine! Welcome back.

I absolutely loooooooooove Charleston!! My DH Dave and I went there for our 25th anniversary. I would go back in a New York minute. We stayed at 2 Meeting Street Inn right on the battery! It was heaven!!

Anyways, I'm so sorrry that you had a awful hotel experience!! That is the pits!! :headache::headache::headache:

:lmao:  :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Oh, no! I'm sorry to hear about the problems with the hotel. But it sounds like the rest of the trip went well.

Thanks for the welcome back!

Billyfan, Yup, hotel was the pits, but otherwise we had a great time. ::yes::

Tinkermell, we saw 2 Meeting Street Inn and said what a great place to stay!! Of course, not everywhere welcomes pups.

Hey, I missed you guys, but little did I know I missed a lively discussion concerning Schwetty Balls. My goodness, these are new to me...I must have lived a deprived life thus far. :sad1:

You've never had oreo balls! They are a staple at all of family gatherings. Essentially, you crush oreos mix it with cream cheese, shape chill, and dip. Yummy!

Here's an article about them: Oreo Balls

I just don't think we should limit ourselves to one kind of ball. I mean variety makes the world go round, right girls?
:rotfl2: Wow, those sound good. Really rich.

It was a great trip as long we were not in the hotel! Great food, great shopping - Charleston has the cutest baby boutiques! :cloud9:

Yesterday Jackie's sutures were removed and she's good as new.:)
Thank goodness that's done!
Other than the hotel, it sounds great. I love looking at baby clothes and toys. :goodvibes
Glad to hear Jackie is on the mend.

Sounds like a perfect plan to me! And I'll try to keep my pants on. Did I go too far?.............
:lmao:

Well mine is still going strong after about 32 years!! :cloud9:
Awww. :lovestruc

I swear the word balls has been used about 1700 times in this thread. :rotfl:
At least!

My balls are done. That was a lot of work. I read the reviews on Allrecipes and they all said it was time consuming, but man. It was easy until the dipping part. That was kind of a pain.

Katie, you'll have to share you tips to make the dipping go smoother. I can't imagine making those very often unless there is an easier way.
They were a hit though! The whole family loved them and the neighbor too.
I took a pic, even though they came out a little funky looking and not at all like the pics online. lol I'll post it later.

:rotfl2: Good to know.

Stick with this group. You'll learn all sorts of things you never knew. Whether you want to or not. :rotfl:

Off to bed ...tired tonight...all the reading catching up here wore me out! ;)

Have a good night - Rest well!

Beth~ I just choked on Diet Coke...my balls are done.....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
Oh My Gosh......

So what are you ladies up to tonight???

I am going to the Improv again with Cat tonight before the madness of finals begins. We're going to the 10:00 showing so we can do dinner at home though.

Who are you seeing at the Improv? Have fun.

I broke with with Chase because he was too needy and clingy for me. I had only dated him a month and he was already complaining he didn't see me enough. I see him 3 times a week, and to me that's a lot to see a guy for only knowing him a month! He wasn't very interesting either. My events are always entertaining and amusing (at least to me they are) and his consisted of going to his friend's hockey game and playing pool. BORING! I enjoy doing different and new things and he prefers to stay at home. Plus there wasn't any fireworks when I was around him; it felt more like a chore to hang out with the kid.

I am extremely picky with who I keep around, ask my mom. Hence why she jokes to everyone I have the wedding planned, just missing the groom.

Good thing you broke up with him now. Sounds like he wouldn't leave down the road. I have a cling on too.....(not James) an ex that just won't go away. I call him momma's boy or my momma said. We dated a few times, he was all in, I was meh. And he just has never left. A great guy though.

Did anyone listen to the DisUnplugged podcast?

I'm listening now. Sounds like the DISUnplugged team is organizing a DL Back Stage Magic Tour for DISers June 15, 2009. Some in the area might want to join on it. Also, this tour supposed to be open to groups (not individuals) in the future. Maybe something that the DIS Divas group could do next year? I know nothing more than what was on the DisUnplugged recording, but sounds interesting!

Sounds like that might be something to think about.

I so would leave that stuff in his locker, BUT I did just attend Respectful Workplace training....
So I am not sure how well that would go over.

I should post his LOTO pic. :rotfl:

I remember when I had to go to sexual harrassment training, I came back and was very innapporpriate (so out of character for me) and joked about the whole thing. Post a pic and make a joke. Who cares about respectful work place.

Stacie, sorry about your situation. I'm sure your super knows all about her kind. Neeeeeeeeeeeedy, and thinks everyone owes her a favor. Is that kind of right?

Yep, that's the kind. When my director asked me about it today, she just rolled her eyes, and was like " do I really need to deal with this?" She gets paid more than me, so yes.

As for what I am doing this weekend...we are having my ds's birthday party. He turned 4 tuesday and we are having the party sunday in a park nearby as long as it is good weather...if it rains it will be at my mom's house. We invited over 30 people...I have no idea how many will show because so few people in our families RSVP...seriously people, it's only a quick phone call. Sorry, pet peeve...50 people RSVP'd to my wedding and 300 showed up. How are you supposed to plan for something like that!!!!:scared1:Sarah

Well, tell them if they don't RSVP,they don't get to eat.

Okay, how you said it reminded me of Star Trek .
Klingon.jpg

I thought the same thing at first. But I think that pic is somewhat sexy.

I was going to make some special ones for the October meet for to get opinions for the February Meet and Greet.

Wooohooo!

So Miss Dawn is at the parks this weekend but there's no plan for a meetup? I guess it's good to give her and her bf (aka husband) some quiet tv time together.

Bowchicabrowncow.

Beth, I hope your balls aren't misshaped, and that they smell good! :thumbsup2 (That's one of my favorite SNL skits of all time...that one and the Caulking how to....you don't want to know about that one!)

I tend to like the Oreo balls better, they are smaller, easier to handle, and you can customize them for any occasion. They are particularly good with coconut on them. popcorn::

James was telling me about a guy on the job who was Caulking and stuff, and then screamed out "I got Caulk in my eye!!!" I about peed my pants when he told me that.

I swear the word balls has been used about 1700 times in this thread. :rotfl:

Lets try for 2000!!! Im gonna make cake balls Sunday night!

Beth~ I just choked on Diet Coke...my balls are done.....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

So what are you ladies up to tonight???

The usually.....la vida loca you know.

Beth~ Glad your balls turned out .

Yes, the dipping can be tedious but there are tools that can make it easier. I have candy dipping tools that make dipping & getting excess chocolate off a whole lot easier. Sometimes when I'm really lazy, I just make cake ball lollipops. I buy the Lollipop sticks at my local bake shop & you just put the sticks in after a chill the balls. The sticks make it easy to dip in the chocolate and get excess chocolate off. Then I stick them upright in styrofoam until they harden.

The "special" ones I'm going to make in October for our meet aren't even in the shapes of balls, but you'll just have to wait to see them ;).

Once again I had a post but the internet in this hotel dropped. :headache:

So anyway I just got back from dinner. I'm flying out in the morning to head home. :cool1: We were going to celebrate Josh's birthday and Mother's Day on Sunday but Selena had a last minute Girl Scout trip come up the same day. She really wants to go so she is. So instead of a relaxing day for the family, I'll be doing laundry, making a carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting (from scratch), cleaning the house, and getting ready for work... I am so ready for my 4 day weekend at the end of this upcoming week.

Well ladies do any of you remember the job I applied for that had a million steps just to get an interview :headache:. Well it's been a week since the interview and I got a letter in the mail that I'm one of the finalist and I have to go take a 3 hour test on May 28th . Okay, I know I really need a job, but this is really starting to become a bit much.

But I am flattered I've made it this far in the process. I guess I'm not a complete idiot .

So we're getting mis-shapened balls?

:wizard: for safe travels home. Sorry you don't get your mothers day.

And you know cream cheese frosting from scratch is the best :thumbsup2.

Congrats. Think of it like this.....you are not one of the finalists....you are the only finalist. They are just wanting to see how committed you are. Act of if you have the job and be confident. I'm sure you will do just fine.

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

They are a completely different shape from a ball (I'll leave it to your twisted imagination ).

Thanks~ I think I'm going to actually study a little. It has been over 5 months since I went on maternity leave & lost my job, so I don't want to be rusty.

Congrats! You are not an idiot at all....(in my best mom voice).

Reading all about these cake balls, makes me think I should try to make them next weekend. Sounds like something my kids would love.

I still have something of yours Steph....and I lost your address. Can you PM it to me?

Josh's favorite cake is carrot so last year the girls and I made him one with a recipe we found online. He's been looking forward to this cake since last year. I could just eat the cream cheese frosting myself....

Boy it sounds like I deprive him of carrot cake...:lmao: I really don't, he thinks it takes a lot of work (it really doesn't) so he doesn't ask for it too often.
