Oh, and Cheryl and Stacie, I think that's what we should do with Ariel's. Keep it, but put it as a lunch option on a day we do a light dinner. For example, we can do Ariel's for lunch one day, then Carnation Cafe for dinner that night. Those who don't do Ariel's still have a nice group dinner option, and those who DID Ariel's can get some soup and still eat with the group while not worrying about being over stuffed. kwim?

I think this is a great idea!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I took my final test for that job on Wed. and I got a call yesterday that I made it to the final interview round on June 16th.

So out of almost 500 applicants I made it to the top 5. My mom says she's proud of me even if I don't get the job . I'm a little worried because I found out the 2 of the applicants are within the company. I know larger companies usually like to hire from within so this news made me a little upset, but I'm still not giving up.

So I hope those 2 people BLOW their interview .

I'm off to sign-up for the new exchange .

I posted this on the poll thread, but thought it should be here as well to make sure it is seen by all in case anyone wants to add their thoughts.

I think Ariel's on the first day again. I enjoyed it (I didn't have to rush to set up though, so that may be a factor for some people).

I vote for the House of Blues Gospel Brunch on the Sunday!! That sounds like a fun time.

Yes, I think doing it again on the first day is going to be too rushed for those setting up the Meet and Greet which includes myself, Stacie, and Katie, and I think all of us were interested in Ariel's.

There definitely seems to be enough interest to keep it in the plans, but let's schedule it on the day we do the Carnation Cafe dinner so there are two group meal options that day, AND one of them can be a smaller meal (the soup at CC).
I think that will be a nice compromise for all involved.

And I love the idea of the Gospel Brunch. We'll have to look into that more. Anyone been to it? Is the seating limited?

I would like to suggest anywhere but ariels for our first meal. I agree with whoever said char meals are hard for talking. But I would take another char meal over ariels. I am waiting for the tram. It is mobbed here today. Weather is nice and cool

I'm thinking we don't need to plan a group meal the first day. Everyone is arriving at staggered times, most are eager to hit the parks, and we have the big Meet and Greet planned.

What does everyone else think? IF we do want some sort of meeting place, maybe it can be in the open area near the bread bakery. People can meet for soup, or sandwiches, or Mexican food. Just keep it casual, kwim? There's plenty of seating there too, and everyone can mingle. Or in DL the area by Rancho would work too.

Ok finally have some time to catch up. I went with Bob to take his old Nissan to get crushed! Owe…it was sad leaving the little old car there knowing it was going to end up looking like a crushed soda can but it had finally failed the smog test and here in CA if a car fails the smog test you can take it to the scrape yard and they’ll pay you $1000 for it to get it off the streets. I know this is all good and environmentally kosher but really a state that is in such a financial mess as CA and will be out of money in a few weeks has programs like this? They are cutting school funding like crazy I think a program like the old smogger cars would be a more likely program to cut…but who am I to say and I guess we benefited from it but still….

I'm not sure if I shared this, but I was going to have to pay $905 for July's rent at my current place of residence because I turned in my move out notice a few days late. So I saved and saved and saved... then I got my wits about me and contacted the regional manager of the apt complex and was able to get the rate down to $150-175. SO, I was going to cancel my trip on the 5-7, but now I think I can afford it. My question is... is 5-7 and 16-18 too much to do solo? I know I won't be solo the whole time for my b-day, but still... my friend who was going to go with me has to come home to Indy because her grandma was diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer. DLH view room rates are better than standard right now. They seem to be changing 3 times a day now. So WWYD?

I would go both times! You never know when you get in school and get busy you may not have a chance to visit DL as often as you like and while you have the chance…go for it! You’ll have fun!

College! Right now I really am thinking of majoring in graphic design. I want that challenge and I know I want to work in art/computers (geek!). They offer this for your AA at a community college not that far from me. I really want to get started and finish with something! I should have graduated 4 year college this year! Honestly, I feel like a failure, you know? I graduated high school with a 3.8 but I went to community college so I can play volleyball for 2 more years and even though I got to play volleyball, I basically messed around and didn't get any school work done!
We should make a "I don't know what I want to be when I grow up" club!!

My Mom is having surgery on July 1st! I hope you work out your days so you can be with your Mom and go to Yosemite on the 4th!

Graphic design sounds really fun! I wish sometimes my job was more on the creative side instead of business/procedure driven! You are never a failure…you are young and you have time to do what you want!

I vote you as president of the club! I’ll be your VP!

I didn’t know your mom was having surgery too! I’ll be thinking of you and your mom on July 1st!! I think it will all work out with staying for my mom’s surgery on the 2nd and still going to Yosemite on the 4th!~ She’ll be in the hospital for 3 -5 days depending on how it goes so there wouldn’t be anything for me to do any way and if needed I’ll go back after Yosemite and help if she needs it. She did so well when they took out the majority of her thyroid so I am hoping for the same result with this time. And then we’ll deal with the necessary treatment for the cancer at a later date.

Courtney and Vicki, I hope both your moms do well and recover quickly when they have their surgeries.

Hey girls! Hope y'all haven't forgotten me. Seems like I just don't have time to keep up with the DIS boards lately.

But the good news is that we're moving to WA!!! We'll be leaving the first week of July and we're renting a house in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island. The house is less than a mile from my dad's house, which will be a great thing for the kids.

Needless to say, I probably won't be posting much for a while. I've got 12 years worth of stuff in this house that I need to go through and pack, and I've got less than 3 weeks to do it! Eeeek!

I posted photos of our new place in Facebook, but if anyone else wants to see, I'll try to get some posted here as well.

Darn! I won't be at DL this weekend but I will be next weekend and without family in tow!

I posted on the other board but I got all my stuff for October except for Shane and the girls hoppers so I am really excited about that.

Does anyone on here know if the prices will go up if I wait till closer to the trip to buy them? I am trying to space my stuff out and pay for it in chunks and I would rather not have to buy anything else right now unless they are going to go WAY up. They have them discounted a bit and unless they are going to go up more than the usual few bucks that they go up in August I would rather wait and buy them right before we go in Oct. I think for a 4 day for Shane it is like 199 or something and 169 for the girls or something on the Disney website. I was going to buy them right before their prices went up and I may STILL buy them the end of July if things go ok I just wanted to try and pay some on my card first. I figured if I waited I could get the plane tix and halloween tix almost paid off first.

So if anyone knows I would appreciate it.

Anyway we have our first Fri practice tonight and it is earlier than normal (5) and then after we are going to grab a bite and then run to sam's which we have despartely been needing to do.

Then tomorrow we have a home meet. Glad of that so we don't have to go to far! Then just church on Sun. Glad we don't have too much going on this weekend. Then next week other than taking care of stuff for mom I have NO Plans. The girls and I are going to start our workout routine and I have already started to eat a little better so hopefully I can start getting some of this blasted weight off!

Morning all! Bright and early here. Getting ready to go to the meet. Up with the chickens as is the case with meets. Next week will be even earlier as it is an away meet! We are supposed to have one in Dixon the following week but we may skip that one because we would literally have to get up at 4 to be there by 7 and I don't think I am up for that! EEK!

That would make for a brutal day!!!

But anyway I got the program in our e-mail and I am NOT a happy camper to say the least. Katy is a butterflier and last year swam that in the medley and indiv all last year and did REALLY well but the reason we left our last team was because our coach was not good. We came to THIS team for better coaching. Well the coaching here is much better but it is a MUCH bigger team and I feel like they are not paying attention to the girls needs. For the 2nd week in a row they put Katy in back stroke which is NOT her preferred stroke. She hasn't swam that stroke since her fist year and she is not very good at it although she did pretty good at last week but still it is NOT her stroke.

They had her swim it in the relay and indiv last week as well as 50 free and 25 free. She did well for what she swam and dropped ALL of her times. She was in the top 10 and was even the top 9 year old in one of her events. Well now THIS week they only have her swimming 3 events instead of 4 and NO butterfly. The coach told her to write him a letter asking to swim the fly and so shelby also requested to swim breast as well and NEITHER of them got their stroke. In fact they have SHELBY swimming fly which she can't even do! RIDICULOUS. It is like they have NO clue what they are even doing. I am livid! I told Shane if they don't get it right by the next meet I am thinking about leaving. I mean we pay a LOT of money to be on this team and if they are not even going to pay attention then it is not even worth it. We might as well be on the old team. At least THAT guy had them swimming the right strokes!

Anyway we shall see how it goes but I am NOT happy!
