Capri, in the scheme of things, it doesn't really hurt that much. Having bc hurts a lot more, so everyone should go and get their mammos. Even when younger, you can get your baseline mammo.

You can also purchase a foam pad. It's $10. I think you have to buy it from the place that does the mammos. You keep it and it is used to make the machine more comfortable. Why women have to pay for this is such an insult - if it were men, you bet insurance would cover it.

One side of the pad is sticky and it sticks to the mammo machine. You keep it at home (not wrapped in plastic, as it has to breathe) and bring it in when you get your mammos. Results are actually more accurate because patients are more comfortable.

I've had 3 mamo's so far in my life and not one of them hurt. All my life I had heard complaints about how much they hurt and I was really nervous the first time but it didn't hurt at all. I don't have huge bb's, if you know what I mean, so there isn't a lot to put on the machine to smoosh. Seriously it did not hurt...it's uncomfortable but not painful.
Everyone's experience is different but I just wanted to tell you mine. It's the waiting for the results that is painful and also if there is something it is better to detect it early!

In regards to the pain of mammograms. I am fairly well endowed. Did not experience any pain, but to me, it was like a wrestling match sort of a thing. Really strange to have some detached stranger manhandling my "tissue". But she was super nice and made it as comfortable as it could have been. So worth the peace of mind.

My mammos never hurt either, but that's because my girls are already looking like deflated balloons, so squishing them a little more is no biggie. lol But I agree, the waiting for results is the worst part. I wish it would hurry up already!

Yup, they only hurt in Spokane!!

Mine have never really "hurt" just uncomfortable. But it also depends on when you get it done relating to your cycle. During the middle, it will hurt more (I think).

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July. The 4th is Josh and my 12th anniversary. We're not sure where the time has gone but it's going there quickly.

I just got back from a podiatrist about a bump in/on my right ankle. Long story short no matter what it is, it has to come out. I have to get X-Rays and possibly an MRI. He said it's either a cyst or a bone spur/chip. I'm not sure which I'm hoping it is. If it's a cyst I'm worried if it's benign or malignant. If it's a spur/chip I'm worried about the overall strength of my ankle. I'll keep you all posted on this as I find out.

I'm assuming we are doing the candy buffet again because it was such a big hit!

My Mom had a big bump on her right ankle. It ended up being 2 ganglion cysts. It caused her quite a bit of pain, especially if she was walking around a lot. She also stopped working out because it bothered her too much. For her they tried draining it with a needle and syringe in the doctor's office. It worked for a little bit, but ended up growing back the next day. A x-ray or MRI should tell the docs what it is. Keep us posted, Steph!

My Vegas girlies: I'm planning to celebrate my 21st birthday in Vegas with my sister, Diana. Where do you recommend we stay/play/ eat? I don't know what our budget will be as of now but I'm hoping to have secured a job in the OC by the time of our trip. I'm about 99% sure we will fly because neither of us will want to drive. My tentative dates are October 30 to November 2nd. Is there anything in LV that would cause huge crowds for Halloween?
I plan on heading back home on Nov. 2nd in the morning so I can arrive in the burbank airport and drive to Disneyland. Gotta have the best of both!
