There are so many Actresses out there that are skin and bones. I am not saying it's not ok to br thin, but some people are just plain scary! Do these people effect your body image? :confused3

Really? Name three that were never on Ally Mcbeal.

Looks like more thin bashing.

Exactly. Do we really have to do this again?

This is nothing new. Anybody remember Twiggy?

I agree there seems to be a new (last 2 years or so) scary-thin trend. I think there's a difference between naturally thin people and people who obviously look miserable and unhealthy (Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Lara Flynn Boyle)

I don't mean to be thin-bashing at all. At least in my head I'm separating naturally thin (Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie 20 pounds ago) to girls that look like they live on Red Bull and cocaine. Even a lot of these women are coming out of it and getting back to a healthy weight.

It doesn't affect my body image, because it looks so scary that my instincitve reaction is "something's wrong" not "that's something I want to be".

ETA: Twiggy always looked healthy and attractive to me... :confused3

Nah....I've been heavy all my life. I have enough body image issues to let what celebrities look like affect me. If they want to be that thin...kudos to them. If they want to be plump..kudos to them. To me health is what matters, not weight.

No, but I was teased for being thin growing up (yes, THIN people get teased just like overweight kids) so I've always tried to gain a few pounds. I was overjoyed when I finally fit into a size 6. I can't speak from the view of someone who might feel they are overweight.

When I see young women on tv or in the magazines that are dangerously thin I feel bad for them. I don't feel envious.
I'm not referring to those that are naturally slender like Keira Knightl. I mean girls that used to look healthy and have obviously lost weight and have taken on the popsicle look (Lindsay Lohan last year, and Nicole Richie for example).

My body image couldn't possibly be any more negative than it is. I blame my Mother for that. Why look to the media for something I can get reinforced at home?
I don't know anyone personally with an eating disorder that didn't develop it initially due to control and Mother issues.

I did not mean to be thin bashing at all. I am thin and have teased A LOT! I hate it! I was really more questioning then any thing else. I am sry if you took it as thin-bashing, but I DID NOT mean it like that!
