Gingerbread Houses for sale?

I am a seasoned WDW Christmas veteran. This year I will be experiencing a DLR Christmas for the first time. When I have gone to WDW I have always purchased a gingerbread house to take home from either the Beach Club or Grand Floridian. Is there any place at DLR that you can purchase a gingerbread house?

I don't know of any off hand but I've only been to DLR once during the holidays. However, if you like gingerbread houses (I do too! ) be sure to take note of the "gingerbread house" in the HMH. It changes every year. They make it fresh. Last year it was a gingerbread coffin and the gingerbread man rose up inside it. You could even smell it.

It has always become my carry-on......wow, I will be really disappointed not to have one this year...it has become a family tradition...

I saw gingerbread men, but not houses. If anyone has seen them there, I'm sure they will chime in.

It always just fit under the seat in front where I could keep my eyes on it and my feet around it...precious cargo IMO...

I've never seen them either....sorry. Hopefully someone else has.

But a few years ago I bought a set of 4 Christmas ornaments (Mickey, Minnie, and 2 snowflakes) made to look like gingerbread cookies. They also sold matching fridge magnets. I think they were still selling those last year. Not the same thing as a house, I know, but they were really cute. Does WDW sell those too?

we get one each year from wdw when we visit during the holidays too! And they travel fairly well...we have never had issues with it breaking!

I believe, could be wrong, that they did at one time offer some soft of hmh house but I haven't heard of them doing so in years. I would certainly purchase one myself if they are in the parks this year!

Thanks for all the replies guys...I find it surprising and disappointing...especially since WDW will not ship them...they have to be bought in person...oh well, I guess my shelf where I have displayed them for years will have an empty spot this year...regardless, I can't wait to see DLR dressed up for the holidays!

Do you save them for years? Do they last that long? Do you spray them with something to make them last? Every year I have a small tree in the kitchen that I decorate with ornaments that look like cookies and candies. I love gingerbread themed anything. I always wanted to decorate the outside of our house to look like a giant gingerbread house!

You have HMH gingerbread perfume? Love that! They should sell in the parks.

Wondering the same thing. Reminds me when, about 20 years ago, our thoughtful daughter-in-law sent us a gingerbread house for Christmas. It was beautiful! It arrived just before we left for a 2 week Christmas trip, so we put it on the mantle.

When we returned, it was completely black with ants! Looked like a horror movie. And there were trails of ants all over the living room hardwood floor, leading to the mantle and the gingerbread house. It broke our hearts to have to throw it away, but we had no other choice. I think we didn't tell DDIL for at least a year.

So, how do you preserve them without inviting little critters? Most gingerbread houses (like our short-lived one) use icing for trim.

as far as i know they do not sell these Gingerbread Houses in Disneyland. These cute houses are featured on one of the Travel Channel Disney speacials and I've always wanted one! I too have been disappointed they were not in sight at least not to my knowledge and we go every year in December.

If you aren't able to get one at DLR, it's always an awful lot of fun to make your own as well. Judging from OP's tagline, I'm guessing your kids are college-aged, but they might still get a kick out of this project. My DMIL makes Gingerbread Houses with my DDs every Christmas. This past year, she used a mold for the smaller house with my DD (then only 2 1/2), but my DH's family tradition has always been to design their own house. My older DD has done this the last two years. The larger house is fabricated from the "blueprints" of a drawing she made of a house (with some help from my DMIL and DH to get the angles right on the sides, back, and roof). you can see a 6 year old's house composition makes for a uniquely-angled abode! Quite a fun family project. Of course, I'm not sure if more candy ends up on the houses or eaten by my DDs!

Those came out great! I remember trying one when I was in elementary school. My mom saw somewhere to use graham crackers for the walls. It didn't work out too well and the walls didn't stay up. With my boys, we did something different.

You make Rice Krispy treat mix and pack it into the end of a cleaned out milk carton. After it hardens you tear the carton off and you are left with a sturdy, solid, house shape that is easy for kids to decorate with candy and frosting.

Bob, when you told that ant story I could just hear the screechy violin music as you discovered it covered in ants. I know there is a spray you can get in craft stores for protecting food things like that, but don't know if it works well on something big like a gingerbread house.

I'm not aware of any place that sells gingerbread houses at DLR, but I do know that every year Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney has workshops where you can build your own gingerbread house.

This is a shame. I love visiting my gingerbread supplier at the GF in WDW.

I generally only get shingles though.
As for the houses....are you guys saying you don't eat them???? I have never bought one before but I always figured after the decorating was over you ate them
They are sold wrapped in plastic.

With the gingerbread "cookies" mentioned...are they actually gingerbread? Because they also sell gingerbread shaped men that are just cookies at the GF.

sigh...I love gingerbread men.
I also loved my gingerbread frappachino at starbucks at Chritmas!!

3Tinks......very cute pictures! The houses are great. I think eating the candy is the best part of making Gingerbread Houses...

By the way - we are from the Sac area as well, and will be there in Dec too! I can't wait!!!
