Ginger Family Getaway: 8/30-9/6 Trip Report DAY 7 & 8 UPDATED 10/2

Wow, today has been busy... had my first mammogram :scared1: AND received a call from someone at Epcot re: the birthday cake order for my mom at the Coral Reef.

I had read about the prices going up, and it's true. After being given my choices, I chose the 6" white with whipped cream icing and an edible Mickey head on it. It was $21. I think it's still worth it.

Woo Hooo! I wish My docs would get here!!! Id be doing the happy dance too!!

The cake sounds good and well worth it...The one i want is 48.00...I may do some more shopping around!:thumbsup2

Thought I'd share some recent pics of Aubree with you... I took her for a haircut last Friday. Those curls in back are just crazy, I tell ya!

Today we went to the zoo - the crowds were horrible. I couldn't believe the lines into the Oceans building and the dolphin show. I can see that more people are staying closer to home this summer. While our zoo is nice, I can't help but compare it to Disney World every time we visit. The bathrooms, restaurants, crowd management, etc. I am also appreciating the pink color of our stroller when trying to find it in the stroller parking areas. It really stands out!

Here are a few pics from our fun day. I'm actually in a few for a change since DH had the camera. As we left for the day, we went through the gift shop and DH picked out a "Nemo" clown fish plush. Boy, is Aubree in love! She can't get enough of the Nemo DVD. We will definitely be taking that with us for her portable DVD player. There's also a pic of Aubree in front of our countdown calendar - we hung it up last night. It's hilarious when she tries to say it.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! 27 days and too many hours until our trip!

Great pics of the zoo! We haven't been yet this summer! Hannah loves to go, but with the new baby, we haven't had the time/energy! ;) We also have the same pink stroller you do and it was great to have at WDW! Aubree is sure a cutie! I think we also have the "Nemo" fish you do! However, Hannah won't watch Nemo because she is afraid of Bruce! :lmao:

Aubree is too cute for words.

Love your update, you guys are too cute...i am lovin that pink stroller BTW!!

Man I really need to get over there to the zoo, I have never taken Javen, Heath went to the Indy zoo when he was like 3 but we are just sooo busy with all these foster kids that it is hard to get out for a family day, ya know. Maybe I will take them the weekend of my birthday (16th), and get a sitter for the foster kids.

cant belive how close we are getting:woohoo: aubree looks so adorable in the calender pic!

Hey there! Just checking in to let you know I'm still here!! You all are getting so close. Sorry the zoo was a madhouse... I agree about people staying closer to home this summer. The Children's Museum has been packed every time we've gone!

Getting excited to hear about your Disney adventures!!

For your enjoyment, my loyal readers... a couple silly pics that DH and I created at Epcot. I tricked DH into posing for his in 2003, and then finally caved in to do mine when we returned in 2005. He'd kill me if he knew I was posting his.

What address do you use to mail supplies to the Poly? Do you put any special instructions with it?

Thanks...I read in your post that you plan on doing this, and I may do it too!

Thanks...I read in your post that you plan on doing this, and I may do it too!

This is the address I'm going to use for Priority Mail (I found the zip code on the USPS website) with Delivery Confirmation using a label I print/purchase at home, and it should give the resort what they need to get it to me. I plan on sending this approx. 1 week before check-in (we leave on 8/30, so I'll ship it on 8/22).

DISNEY'S POLYNESIAN RESORT
ATTN: (insert name on reservation here), GUEST
1600 SEVEN SEAS DR
LAKE BUENA VISTA FL 32830-8423

I'm also going to write my name, check-in date and confirmation # on the box with a Sharpie. If I can fit that info on the label when entering the address, I'll type it in too. I think there's a 2nd line that will hold it.

Hope this helps - if anyone else has suggestions, please feel free to chime in!

Thanks, and yes it helps!! I was thinking about mailing all baby supplies:

diapers
wipes
favorite baby foods
bottles (yes, we still have one each day!!!)
disposable sippy cups
disposable changing pads/sacs for smelly diapers in the room
Silk soymilk
snacks

to the resort, rather than trying to pack them and requiring an extra bag. DS, who will be 22 months old when we leave Sept 6th will need a good bit of supplies and since he's flying as a lap child, the airline doesn't allow him any bags, so I thought I'd just get it all together and ship before we leave.

By the way, I love your stroller. We bought a MaClaren Volo, it's very light and compact. But I am very nervous about DS taking his naps...will he be able to nap in the stroller? Who knows? He naps fine in the one we use at home, a Peg Pliko 3, but it's too big for the buses, especially when you have to collapse it each time. We are not renting a car this time, in March we did and drove to all the parks. We decided to stay at the monorail resort for easier transporation.

I am getting so excited about the trip...Is this your DD first?

I'm glad you posted the list of what you're shipping - I didn't have "smelly diaper" bags on my list! Good call! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure about the napping in the stroller. My DD has never napped like that. We'll see how she does in hot Florida! :rotfl: I'm planning on taking an afternoon break anyway.

Yes, it's DD's 1st trip... although she was with us when we went in December 2005 (I was a couple months pregnant at the time!).

I hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

I Hope you also have a good trip!!

Does your DD not nap now? I was wondering when our DS would quit napping. Some days he has a hard time going down, he wants to go..go..go!! I would love to have that energy.

I'm sure that you have already mentioned it, but are you flying? Has your DD flown before?

She takes at least one nap a day - usually after lunch for 2 hours. She'll tell be that she's tired or start putting her head down on the couch. We've been very lucky with her sleeping at night and for naps.

Yes, we're flying. She's never flown before, and I am hoping for the best!

My DS isn't so good about the naps!!

I hope your flight is good!! This will be DS's 3rd plane trip. He does really well, but it takes a lot of entertaining on our part. I have been saving kid meal toys for about two months for the flight. That way I don't have to take his small toys from home and risk losing them. And I can take one out at a time, and he loves new ones!!

We'll buy him small souvenirs there for the flight home. I tried the DVD player on the last trip, but he really isn't into TV just yet. Snacks are good for him too!!
