Is it because they are directly on the ground Jules? Wonder if they put them on bricks or something to get them off the ground they'd be ok

I believe it is to do with them being on the ground Matt, when we lit the fire in the bbq, the site manager came to ensure that we were not making a camp fire, apparently due to the problems some of the local residents have caused about some of the site being National Trust ground, the council are closely monotoring any fires that go on there. When he came to check on ours it was fine, as the fire was off the ground in the bbq, however, the people who were camping just up from us had literally made a fire, and burnt the grass badly.

Our portable barbecue, whilst on legs, still burnt the grass last year. I wonder whether we do need to come up with something to put underneath.

We will be bringing a double gas hob. It also has a grill but last time we tried to toast some bread it took forever and Mike took an oath saying he'd never do it again!

good idea on the food front, seems sensible to bring friday and saturday rations only.
have got old saucepans and frying pan etc which I will bring.

Well as regards non edible items, we will have 2 gas stoves, the bbq, a pump that works off the car lighter for peoples airbeds, lighting, torches etc, we have the tongs etc for the bbq, a frying pan, saucepan, and kettle, washing up bowl, and of course most importantly the ipod.

We've also got a light/torch, saucepan and frying pan etc, small table, wind break, picnic blanket and who knows what else!

We will take a gas stove with frying pan and saucepan - got to have that porridge with clotted cream on it

Also a washing up bowl and all that sort of stuff. If I remember last year the worse thing was trying to get enough hot water to wash things up - so the more kettles, pans etc., the better - as then we can ensure we have enough. Probably a good idea if we have a few washing up bowls etc. As Deb says though we could take electric kettles that will give us loads of hot water and we can use the gas stoves for bacon, eggs, porridge etc.etc.

As for scorching the ground - we can get a sheet of metal from work to lay on the ground and then put the barbeques on - that should get round that problem. I also have some really large plastic bags from work that we can chuck over the barbecues etc., at night in case of rain etc - so I will bring those.

yes Tam, we will have the cool box, we also have a small fridge, its very small but we found it quite useful last time

Microwave? Actually a convection oven too so could cook up a storm using it
Also, probably bring some bacon.
