How do I pack my bottle of tonic water? Is is carbonated so at higher elevation would it fizz over in my luggage in the cargo hold? I also want to bring Pepsi for the rum. Wow, I sound like a drunk.

Can I now bring both on board or how to I pack it?

Thanks, April party:

Have you ever been on the tarmac & watched the luggage handlers literally toss suitcases around?

I'd be very careful packing any liquid in checked luggage, especially any glass bottles (rum?).

They have liquor stores in FL and the resort sells mixers (not sure if tonic water is on hand).

The difference in air pressure will not cause a caronated beverage to explode in the baggage hold. But as someone mentioned, the rough handing will do the trick.

Ok, I will pack big beach towels around my Gin and DH Rum...but why the Rum??

I would seriously ask you to reconsider and buy your items when you arrive. Even wine packed for shipping has been known to break, and while you may not mind your clothes etc smelling of gin and rum, other travellers will.

I've seen soaked luggage on the carousel before - it's the old 'water in my suitcase' debate, but at least water doesn't smell.

I have packed wine since these new restrictions. My suggestions
1. Wrap the beverage in bubble wrap.
2. place the wrapped beverage in a GOOD zip lock bag. Place that zip lock bag in a SECOND bag.
3. Wrap the whole mess in a dry cleaning bag
4. pad with clothing in the CENTER of the suitcase.

So far so good. however, that's probably enough plastic to make sure that the only stuff that gets messed up is YOURS which I consider only polite.

(NOTE: I use the one bottle per suitcase rule so they can't run into each other and this takes up a LOT of room in your luggage.)

I'd go one better and put a cheap towel in between the first and second ziploc.

No matter how it is packed, good liquor is one of those things that tends to magically disappear from checked baggage. I'd just have a grocery service deliver liquor and mixers to your hotel (grocers sell liquor in FL, you don't have to deal with an overpriced liquor store.)

PS: Rum and PEPSI??!!! Oh, the sacrilege. ;)

We even use a large, sturdy shoebox and put all the well-wrapped and bagged bottles of wine in that too. Then we put all the soft paddding "stuff" around that. Oh, we also put the box in yet another secure plastic bag.
Yes, we know we can get wine at WDW (especially during F & W), but have you seen their prices for nice wines? :scared1:

I frequently pack plastic bottles of pop and water in my luggage. I just make sure they are in a sealed bag of some sort. Gallon size freezer bags work great. I also do that for all my shampoo etc. I have never had a problem, but you do take a risk. I wouldn't recommend cans as they are easily ruptured.
