Day 8
Up at 7am. Even though it was forecast to be wet and thundery today we had to go to US as it was the last day of our 7 day pass and we hadnt been yet.
From our balcony we spied a turtle in the water below. We went down for a closer look and saw that that section of the canal was teeming with them, some babies and some as long as 2. We spent ages watching them but failed to spy the resident alligator who lives under the road bridge!
Got to US at 09.30 and did Mummy. We were both really disappointed with this there was very little story and it was just a jerky ride we thought Kongfrontation was much better. Jaws was closed for refurbishment (shame, its one of my favourites) so went to Men In Black and Back to the Future. I have done BTTF more times than I can remember without ANY problem not so today. It left me very sick so much so we had to leave and I was actually physically sick. I feel US/IOA have lost some of its appeal for us anyway and we shant bother to go next time.
I slept for a while and Tony went to the Boardwalk for some beer tasting. Around 4pm I was feeling much better so we went for a dip in the pool before getting ready for the Clambake at Cape May. Now I hate fish and shellfish so I was very reluctant about this meal but I do have to let Tony have some say and he loves it all how wrong was I? This was a superb buffet with a fantastic range of shellfish for those who like it and plenty of choice for those, like me, who dont. We sat next to a delightful couple from South Carolina and chatted to them for ages. He was a Doctor too so we had lots in common.
After eating far too much, the first meal wed achieved three courses, we both had to go and lie down so watched Illuminations from bed!
Day 9
Were finding it harder to get up now so lay in bed until 07.30. After breakfast we drove to AK by 9am.
We saw Festival of the Lion King first. What a great show this is, so full of energy and such vibrant colours. I cant believe we havent seen it before. Next we did the Pangani Trail where we saw the Gorillas, some of whom were having a sulk and where one moved to allow anotherto sit in his spot and then went back when the other one moved away. This was such human behaviour and was really funny to see. Tony loves the Hippos but they were very still in the far end of their pool so we didnt see a great deal. Afterwards we did the Safari and youll be relieved to hear we successfully saved Little Red. There were loads of animals out and our driver was very good about stopping for photos etc
Next we went to Kali River Rapids if youre ever worried about going on this and getting wet dont worry. Come on with me and youll be safe. What seemed like the entire contents of the river deluged me, not once but twice! I was wearing a little sundress which not only wrapped itself around my legs and entire body most fetchingly but also became see through!
After this, the skies were darkening ominously so we went back to BC for lunch. In the afternoon, Tony went to the gym while I watched Dallas and Dynasty again and wrote some postcards. As wed had such a good dinner at Cape May last night, we cancelled our reservation at Restaurant Marrakesh and booked Cape May again again we werent disappointed.
