Ah the Mickey wakeup call! Jan & I couldnt have asked for a better way to start our first full day! We walked over to Pepper Market for breakfast, drinking in the scenery at CSR with the mist on the lake many wonderful pictures were taken. Breakfast was great in fact, every meal we had at the Pepper Market was excellent. We really enjoyed the fun festive feeling of it, too. Then we hopped the bus to Epcot and got there good & early. The security guards at park entrances were pleasant and friendly we thought this whole thing was handled excellently by Disney security. As we walked into Epcot, the Jammitors were just setting up for a quick show. We stopped to watch and thoroughly enjoyed it! Those guys are just having too much fun! We were close to the front of rope drop and were among the throng rushing to Test Track right away (but we didnt run were compulsive rule followers in Mickeys house). After Test Track, we went to Universe of Energy to spend some quality time with Ellen & Bill Nye. We were wearing our Magic Moments pins and this was the first time we really saw them in action flashing white during the big bang! Cool!!!
After that, we headed over to the Coral Reef for lunch we were the second party seated and scored a great table right next to the aquarium. In between naming all the fish (Raymond, Roy Rogers, Stanley ) and the laughter that ensued, we enjoyed a really good lunch. It was my first time eating here and I was really impressed. Afterwards, we walked through the Living Seas and happened to be on the observation deck when a Dolphin Presentation was starting. Bob & Toby were adorable and danced, smiled and played to the delight of everyone there. It was great! Then we headed to The Land pavilion, where we saw Food Rocks, which is still just the cutest, funniest show. Pita Gabriel that gets me every time. On our way over to World Showcase, we stopped to enjoy Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. Have I mentioned that we have walked up at just the right time for nearly every attraction? Amazing!
In World Showcase, we passed Canada (since we knew wed be seeing it on Saturday), walked around Great Britain and on to France, where we saw the Living Statue. Jan went and stood next to her and she stole Jans purse! More wonderful pictures were taken the statue was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed Impressions de France, especially the wonderful French CM who introduced the movie. She was just infectiously charming & made us both want to catch the next plane to Paris. But our next destination was Japan, where we had a 5:00 dinner ressie at Teppanyaki. We shared a table with a couple with 4 kids who never spoke to each other. They all seemed like they were there on condition of parole and we tried blowing some surreptitious pixie dust on them. Hopefully, their vacation got better later on. Dinner was superb and we both got dessert chestnut mousse for Jan (See how easy trying something new is??) and ginger ice cream for me. While we were eating, the chef threw something else on the grill and Jan wondered what he was cooking now until she figured out it was a steel wool pad! More giggles.
When we came out, we noticed people already lining the streets for Tapestry of Dreams, so we plopped down right outside of the Japanese pavilion to enjoy it. It was just magical we both loved it, especially the wonderful music. Our pins danced in time to the music and yes, a few tears were shed. Since we were in the teary mood anyway, we went ahead and braved American Adventure. Im a softy for this attraction anyway, but in light of current patriotism, it was a five-hanky occasion for both of us. After composing ourselves, we moved along to Italy, where we spent some time watching the Character Masquerade the music was really lovely. Then we walked through Germany. As we came out of one of the stores, the 8:10 Tapestry of Dreams parade was going on so we walked alongside it, enjoying the music, for a while. Then we couldnt stand just listening anymore and we got to a wide open space where we could just stop & watch it again. This time, the giant puppet with the little puppet ran up to us and hugged us with the little puppet. It was magical all over again!
Then we staked out our spot to watch IllumiNations & were entranced by it. What a wonderful way to end the night! The crowds leaving the park were massive, so we stopped to call home and talk to the kids before they went to bed. We prepared for a long line at the bus stop, but there was no line at all and a bus waiting for us! Pixie dust follows us everywhere! Still no luck with Hat Task #1, so it was abandoned in favor of Hat Task #2: Quest for the Zebra Visor!
Tomorrow: Animal Kingdom! (Zebra visors should abound, dont you think?)
