I'm putting together a countdown calendar for DD, age 6. Every Friday on the countdown, I'm going to let her choose a pre-wrapped gift for the trip. I'll need 7 gifts (7 Fridays in the countdown). I'm hoping this helps to pass the time on the countdown for her until we leave.

We're driving, so the 7th gift will be travel stuff, activity books, a new movie, etc.

I need 6 other gift ideas for things she can use on our trip. I do want to try to keep this as cost-friendly as possible :)

Here's what I have so far:
Autograph Book
Mickey Ears
New Bathing Suit (Disney themed of course!)

Any other suggestions please?

I saw in my local WalMart recently Frozen Glow stick and Wand packs, which are great for kids at the parks at night. I also saw collapsable Disney water bottles, which also come in handy ;)

New beach towel, flip flops (other pool shoes), Disney t-shirts, Disney gift card to put her spending money on, Disney Tsum Tsum or pillow pet she can use as a pillow on the trip. I've seen Disney themed small journals at the Dollar Tree (along with small tote bags) that she could use on the trip, too. My DD likes to write in a journal sporadically. The Target Dollar Spot sometimes has Disney stuff, too.

Disney pjs, underwear, and socks
New tennis shoes (early so she can break them in)
Stickers and tattoos
Movies for home/car
Disney bows, hair ands, etc

I always get my kids Disney pajamas, a beach towel, T-shirt or sweatshirt, and a few trading pins... but usually I fix these things up in a gift bag and then leave the gift bags on their pillows along with a personalized letter "from Mickey" (printed out before our trip) in the Disney font to each kid... I somehow manage to sneak them there when they aren't looking, and they LOVE the "magic" of having gifts directly from The Mouse show up in our room! :)

Tina, I just googled Disney Tsum Tsum. From NYTimes..com. Disney Stores started selling a pellet-filled toy the size of a Twinkie. Priced at $4.95 apiece, the little oblong blobs, called Tsum Tsum, look like various Disney characters and are intended to be purchased in groups and stacked like firewood. (Tsum, pronounced tsoom, translates as “stack” in Japanese, according to Disney.)

I got PJs and disney look and find books and stuffed animals so far. Kohls Cares has been on a disney kick lately!

Pin trading starter pack

Pressed penny "kit" pennies, quarters, printed map of machine locations, tubes to store coins and pressed coins - you can find cute ideas on this site for decorating an m&m minis tube and I think a mentos tube (for the oblong, pressed penny) with custom labels.

Pressed coin "kit" rolls of coins, tubes to keep them in, printed map of machine locations

Disney decor for your car: antenna topper, window clings, Disney beach towel to cover/protect/decorate back seat and use later at pool, small Disney plush or pillow pet

Disney bag or purse to hold disney themed snacks for car trip

They come in three sizes!

There is also an AP/game.

When my in laws were taking us and our kids our their first Disney trip, my MIL made one of those paper link chains with one link for every day starting the day she gave it to us. The kids took turns tearing off one link every day and we even have a photo of DS removing the last one the day before we left. For kids, it gave them a more concrete way to count the days. X-ing off days on the calendar is just not as easy to understand for younger ones! MIL also gave each kid a goodie bag for the plane ride. Lots of trinkets of Disney characters, puzzle or doodle books things to keep them busy during the flight. Enjoy!

Holy cow those things are cute. I want them. For myself.

Okay...maybe I'll get DD one :)

I can't say how ridiculously excited I am to give DD the countdown! I know it will help be a more tangible thing for her as far as counting down to when we leave. That's why I want to have some sort of small/easy activity for her to do each day, and a prize day each Friday, I'm hoping it will make the time pass faster, without her asking when are we leaving every 2 hours :)

Are the pressed pennies a big thing out there? I don't remember them from when we went 2 years ago?

They are all over the resorts and the parks...and Disney provides maps/descriptions of each machine so you can collect different series (Jungle Book, Princesses, etc.). Our 6-year-old loved it way more than I could have predicted, and I was thankful for being prepared with M&M canisters of quarters and pennies. She collected quite a few, and it really seemed to ward off the "gimmes"...as she never really asked for any souvenirs. She pulls out the little booklet now, and looks them over as we are planning our next trip. She has big plans to complete a few of the series:)

Good to know - thanks! I'll put something together for her for sure so she can participate in that!

For little activities to do each day, there are TONS of coloring pages and mazes and word puzzles on the interwebz to print off. Maybe include a disney pack of crayons or markers one day? Are you staying onsite? One days delivery could be the magic bands? Or cute decorations for it? Disney theme snacks? Like fruit snacks?

We are staying on site, we booked a package, so if I understand correctly the magic bands will be shipped to us before we leave?
