That is exactly what people give, the international type. Some also give a department store card, like walmart. But I'm bringing the calling cards. They are also good for say, your server in Palo who is not your regular server, or as a little something extra for all the people who you normally tip.
Originally posted by travel with kids If I was going to bring a small token of thanks for those who work in the children's program how many would I bring for a 4-day cruise?
I'd first say depends on the age. Younger aged children you'd need more because there are more people that will work with your children. For ages around 3-9 I'd say bring about 5 gifts but for over 10 bring about 3 gifts.
i'd like to know too, since we will be using the club for my DS4, (when there's an activity that he's interested in) and the nursery for my DS2. (he'll only be there when we go to palo)
I saw on the Disney cruise website that there are NINE counselors for the age group that 4 year old go to, do we tip them all, if not how do you choose who to tip, and does anyone ever worry about the behind the scenes people??? How about Flounder's? My 2 and a half year old will probably spend a fair amount of time there, and I don't want to forget anyone...
We gave the phone cards to who our daughter seemed to bond with - She was also very friendly with us and really looked after our daughter - It would be too much to give EVERYONE in the lab phone cards
the phone cards you all speak of, are they those MCI kinds that you can buy from places like costco or staples? like with 100 minutes or something? or are the international ones different?
We usually get the AT&T ones. Just make sure they can be used internationally, and be aware that the minutes for international calls will be MUCH less than domestic, especially if they are used at a pay phone.
Another fun idea is Florida instant lottery tickets. You can buy them at the airport or if you do a grocery stop.

thank you inkkognito! i like the lottery ticket idea. do they sell them at the airport too? and we give them to the counselors at the end of the cruise...maybe the night before disembarkation? what about for the flounders reef? everytime we use it? we plan on using it twice, one night for palo dinner, and one morning/noon time for palo brunch. do they have different counselors in the oceaneer's club & flounder's reef daily, or are they the same people that work there for the entire 7 days?
I don't know about the lottery tickets. that isn't a guarenteed gift. they could scratch it off and have a piece of paper. Whoopie! Or they could have $$$....WHOOPIE! I might think about that as an extra gift, not as an only gift. Might be fun though.
They sell the lottery tickets at the airport.
I use them as gifts for postitions that don't traditionally get a tip. That way, if they don't win, it doesn't matter, and they had all the fun of scratching.

I know for Common Grounds/Stacks there are only 4 or 5 counselors. So that's not terrible. But, there are rules where they can't take money donations or something along that line.
