How do you get one? Is this something only certain families do? Is it only a Disney thing?

So many disers seem to score gift trips, I am feeling left out.

I don't know what this is...

sure ya do!

you know when dissers come on here & complain and tell stories about how they have no $$ are broke-can't pay their bills- cant buy clothes for their kids-declare bankruptcy-have repos etc etc yet they have a trip or trips planned with the vacay countdowns proudly displayed in their siggys? well when other dissers ask how they can possibly go on vacay if they can' pay their bills the answer is almost always "it's a gift from a family member or friend" hence the gift trip.

i want one too but unfortunate for me i wasn't born into a generous enough family and group of friends.:sad: i guess i'll just have to keep working to pay my own bills b4 i can pay for my OWN vacay.

Ewwww...jealous much?

To be honest, I never thought we'd be the recipients of such a gift, but here I am. NExt year (September 2010) my mother turns 60. It was her 60th birthday wish to go on a trip to WDW with her three children (me and my two sisters along with our husbands/SO's). So my father is paying for the trip for all of us as a gift to my mother. It will be 7 adults and he is covering pretty much everything (rooms, dining plan, park tix). DH and I live within a day's drive so we won't need to purchase plane tickets.

If DH and I had to pay for the trip ourselves, we could...but it would be a massive stretch. We are small business owners and crazy expenses crop up all the dang time.

So there you go! Want me to check and see if my parents are looking to adopt?

My inlaws take us on a ski trip every January. They also took us to Myrtle Beach this past June. It is really nice to go on a free vacation! You don't have to be born into the family, just marry into it. :thumbsup2

YES and YES!
i'd be a good son, i promise:teeth:

A son you say? Well, Dad might be interested...he's got three girls you know. Are you willing to play catch and learn the fine art of swimming pool maintenance and BBQ techniques?

Hey, wait! I can raise the ante with a son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. :rotfl:

this could really work out. i already have the baseball-football-catch thing down pat as well as the bbq. he may need to teach me about pool maint. but i am a fast learner. i can even mow the lawn:thumbsup2

I could give you a gift trip, and then you could give me a gift trip. That's the only way I'll ever get one!:rotfl:

On second thought, why don't you give me the gift trip first, then next year I'll give you one!;)

hey, i called it first!

actually it would be cheaper to take me because its only me, no kids and my SO doesn't have to come too. ;)

I'm actually saving money to take my niece and her family, my nephew and his wife, and my sister to WDW. I'd love to go with the whole family so it's more a gift to myself than to them. :lmao:

You sweeten the pot mightily with the lawn mowing..

it gets better.... my mama taught me how to do laundry iron and cook for myself. in fact she made me do laundry and iron my own stuff starting in highshool so i wouldn't be lost when i left for college and moved out on my own. looks like that might pay off now ;). i would be willing to clean cook and do laundry well at least in the beginning to make myself look good. :cool2: my fiance love my mama because she taught me those things. :)
