Gift of on board credit question

For Christmas, relatives of ours say they gave us dinner at Remy and 2 massages. They just gave us cards with printouts describing the restaurant, nothing official from DCL, as ostensibly it will show up in our stateroom. (We are, obviously, delighted and grateful)

Does this mean they actually gave us those specific things, or just onboard credits in the amount of those things?

We don't actually want to go to Remy this time, as we're pretty sure our (very young) children won't sleep in the nursery/clubs, and that would put them out WAY past their bedtime, etc etc etc. So we'd prefer to do brunch or Palo...Just curious how this would work. If it's just credits, easy, we register for what we want, no need to explain to the gift giver.

thanks!

If I remember correctly it means they gave you OBC for those things. You will have a card in your room that states what you got. I have given gifts many times and outside of the packages you can only give OBC and then they will write in the card what you would like it to be used for but there is nothing stopping you from using it for something else.

we had people give us OBC for our recent overdue nuptials (together for 19 years before marriage). Even though the cards said for "xyz" we were able to use them for anything. they just came through as credits.
