I have a friend that is moving to Germany in Feb. Her husband is transfered there for 5 years. We met through our childrens school.I'm going to miss her so much. But I'm so excited for her nad her family. I already told her I want to keep the kids in touch as pen pals. I also told her I'm sending my youngest dd Flat Stanley to her next year>LOL

I'm trying to come up a gift for her and also for her children.(My dd is going to miss her son) HEr son is 7 and daughter is 10.

Thanks in advance.

How about some nice stationary for her and something similar for the kids? My kids always liked that stuff. You could also give an address book with your address and those of your mutual friends already written in. My mother did this for me one Christmas with all the addresses of our relatives because I live in another state. I really appreciated that.

I like that idea!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!! I would have never thought of that!

What about a web camera then you can chat with her and see her as well

I was going to suggest that as well. When we last moved it was a GODSEND for the kids to help with the transition.

You could also send a package every month or so with things they won't be able to get there that they might miss-candy from the US or whatever. I would set up Facebook accounts for the kids too so they can share pictures back and forth.

Make sure you check with the post office before you send anything. DS use to live in Germany and I was surprised at the things I couldn't send him. Off hand I remember coffee and blue jeans. Not that those were things you would send, but I do remember they had some odd ones!

Do the mom's in your group make a certain food item/dish that this family loves? You could get a favorite recipe from each family in your mom's group and put them in a book with some notes from each family.

Thanks.Good to know to check with the post office.

No foods I know of.

She should sending YOU candy...they have fabulous candy in Germany!!

What part of Germany is she going to?

I really like the web-cam idea that another poster suggested.

Try to save your money, and get over there to visit while she is there. That will be a great present for both of you. (I know, it doesn't help with getting her something now before she leaves, though.)

I will ask her to send me candy.

I'm not sure where she is going in Germany.

She has invited us to come over.I plan on try to save for that. She said she is a 2 hour train ride to Paris Disney.
