I need to get another gift for my son’s girlfriend (24). I already got her a couple of items from LuluLemon.

She’s a dancer. Back when we had public NBA games, she was a team dancer (they don’t call them cheerleaders). I’ve seen her dance at the games and I think it’s mostly hip hop. She also belongs to a dance company but hasn’t been able to do much because studios are closed.

Outside of that, I know she likes hot yoga and shopping at Trader Joe’s ;)

I saw some virtual tickets to The Nutcracker Hip Hop style that I don’t know if she’ll like. The steezy app looks interesting. I could pay for a year membership, but some of the reviews say it’s glitchy and it may be below her dance level. Maybe jewelry? Any ideas? My son is no help at all. He thinks she would “probably” like the steezy app.

My son's girlfriend (age 22) is also a dancer! She loves Disney too. She and my son are broke college students and they agreed not to spend too much on each other. He got her a nice throw blanket with Baby Yoda on it, and a few Disney hand sanitizers. I got her a purse from the Disney Store with a little Mickey head emblem on it, and a Mickey facemask. Last year, she and her family went to WDW for New Year's so I gave her a Disney gift card to take with her. In the past, my son has given her candles from the Magic Candle Company.

Being a dancer she is on her feet a lot so maybe a nice home foot spa kit. A nice soak, a scrub, pumic stone, soft wash clothe and soft hand size towel or two of the m so she has one to rest her feet on and one to dry with, and some lotion in a large portable tub-they do make ones that plug in but even one of those square dish tubs would work. Maybe include some of her favorite candy in there as well to make it a little fun or a gift card to a favorite place to get a treat so if she loves to get frozen yougart to a place that serves that if she loves a particular resturant a small gift card to get herself something-I would make sure it is a place that she can use either for delivery or for curbside that way she can use it if she is not comfortable dining inside and you don't have outdoor dining in your area without having to wait months.

Perfect. I’ll put together a gift basket with a foot spa and bath salts, lotions, and scrubs. I’ll run to Trader Joes and see if they carry any of the accessory items. When she comes to our house, she brings her own food and she only shops at Trader Joe’s.

This is going to sound counterintuitive, but dancers actually tend not to pamper the skin on their feet too much, because for dancers callouses are good, and they like to keep them, as they protect the feet from blistering. Every serious dancer I know has kind of scary-looking feet, but they make a point of toughening their feet to take a pounding day in and day out. IME, they tend to work on comfort for the muscles more than the skin, so things like roller balls and massage tools are great to work out sore spots (a lacrosse ball is actually great, &/or a raquetball; they are just the right size to roll under the arches and toes of the foot.) Fancy scented epsom salts are also very nice for soaking out tired muscles.

I would second a gift card to her favorite local dance shop; as a professional, she almost surely gets a significant discount there, so she will probably be able to stretch it to more than face value. Many serious dancers get a regular professional foot/leg massage; if she does that, a card from her favorite place would probably be very welcome.

One thing I started a few years ago was gifting experiences for the couple, Broadway shows, restaurant gift cards, a weekend away, based on the SO’s interest and the length of time of the relationship. Older teens/young adults dint seem to have a ton of money. Dd19 and her boyfriend just went to a Rodizio this week on me (not chancing gift cards this year or restaurants being open later this winter), he was dying to try it, cost about $150, I probably wouldn’t have spent more that $75 on his gift anyway. My kids preferred the experiences over gifts. Dd24 has requested the same restaurant as last year, a tasting menu that’s around $250 per couple, her boyfriend says it’s the best meal he’s ever had (he’s a foodie and an out of work college graduate with a degree in film, so eating out is a treat).

This year is so tricky, isn’t it? We’re in OR and restaurants are closed for all but take-out and so many have closed for good. I most definitely prefer to receive experiences rather than standard gifts.
