do a search for Electronic Snap Circuit Set. It's a battery powered snap together set with which they can make a functioning AM radio, lights, a fan, all kinds of stuff.

Well that's really the person's fault, it comes with a wrist strap...

No, actually the strap is too thin and it frays. Nintendo is replacing the original straps with thicker ones.

The only thing that I thought of was before Wii, Xbox 360, Play Station 3 came out, I always thought of gift cards. Gift cards may seem cheap sometimes, but then they can pick out what they want.

I agree with most of the people here. Video games for the 12 year old. Even for me I would like some video games, *love electronics* Hehe....For the 7 year old, I would say magnetix, legos...all good! Board games are awesome too.
