Gift Ideas for ages 7- 9

ds 7 wants ds games, dominoes, dagedar and anything mario. I asked him what 7 years olds like and he said computers.

Our sons will be 8 and 9 this Christmas. They are huge into spy stuff and army stuff. They love to pretend they are going into battle with their nerf guns. This year I am going to get a bunch of army stuff (packs, water bottles, vests, and so on) at a local army nany surplus store.

We do not allow our kids to have video game systems so those are not options for us but I know they are popluar with other families.

We are gatting our sons a nook color this year. Some how reading a book that is required for school is more fun on a nook.

Daughter 7 - loves anything crafty. I just go to Micheals or JoAnns and stock up on a ton of project type stuff.

Our DD8 and 10 will be getting tickets to see Lion King on Broadway this year. We are also running out of ideas and thought an experience would be great. So we are excited to do that.

They also like AG, books, crafty stuff, and scrapbooking. They would love a Nook Color, but I am getting one first!!!

If you haven't already purchased your ticket you should check out www.kidsnightonbroadway.com

Last Christmas my kids were 7 & 8. I went to Home Depot and bought a bunch of PVC piping. I bought all different kinds of connectors also. Then I went to Wal-Mart and bought flat sheets. Now the kids can built their own forts and tents whenever they want. They can make really huge ones, or smaller ones that connect. They have had a lot of fun with them and so have their friends:thumbsup2

My 11 year olds would love this - one of them is always cutting up boxes to make a house.

My DD9 and her friends like Monster High, Squinkies, Littlest Pet Shop, they love their flip video cameras for doing stop motion videos, they all seem to like art supplies and have been making little desserts and stuff for charms out of the clay that you bake.

Some games they like are Pictureka, Apples to Apples, Rush Hour.

My dd just turned 9 this week and she got several different type of journals for her birthday that she loved. One lights up on the front, so it's nice and flashy. One writes with invisible ink and uses a light to read it. And one was an electronic password journal where you have to say the password correctly for it to open up.

For boys...that's about the age they start having favorite sports teams... my son always loved any kind of ball... during football season a jersey for his favorite team and a football.. basketball season ... baseball season ... we had lots of balls and jerseys in our house! :thumbsup2

Am I the only one that thinks it's sad that the 7-9 crowd is too old to play and needs an iPod?:sad2:

My son got this for his birthday and it's a huge hit with boys and girls:

Kind of pricey for a low-tech toy, but keeps them busy for hours! Works with water balloons or air balloons.

Also Playmobil! Many themes and realistic accessories. I especially love the Egyptian stuff for kids.

Definitely not the only one! I debated back and forth so long about getting my older dd an ITouch for her b-day, and she'll be 11. Refuse to get it for my (will be) 9 yo for at least a couple more yrs... the 9 yo is getting her first American Girl doll.

These kids grow up way too fast as it is, without helping them along, lol!

My dd's got that pumponator for Christmas last year, and love it.. it's great in the summer when they can make their water balloons super fast, :)

I found the Pumponator for my daughter! It looks great, I know she will like it :) Thank you for the suggestion.

My son is 11 but somewhere in the 7 range cognitively (sometimes seems a little younger than 7, sometimes slightly older). His friends are all in the 7-9 range.

DS is getting an e-reader/tablet, several small lego packs, mighty beans, a racetrack (he loves hot wheels but right now he's really into the Cars 2 characters so I got him a Finn Mcmissile set), a board game, a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book that he wanted in print to go with his other DOAWK books and a World Records in Sports book that I bought before I knew we were getting him an e-reader. He and his sisters are getting a combined gift of a Kinnect and 3 games from one grandma and a another family Kinnect game from Santa. Santa is also bringing the whole family Gold passes to our local amusement/water park which was something DS really wanted. From his other grandmother he is asking for lots more Legos, a remote to use on the old Xbox he bought with his own money so he can watch DVD's in his room, several dvd's, and Disney Quest for Xbox 360.

His friends want Paper Jams, Nerf guns, Legos and video games.
