Gift ideas for 10 yo dd's interests?

My dd is turning 10 in December and I'd like to get her something special for her birthday. Recently she's developed an interest in fashion and has told me that she'd like to become a fashion designer, veternarian, or police officer (interesting choices, but I'm not going to stop her!). Does anyone have any gift ideas (budget, or course!!) that would tie in to any of her future career interests?

Vetrianian-- there are some interesting books out there about skeletal features of animals. I remember seeing one in a 6th grade science classroom. I think it was a Doris Kinderlsley one. Yes, lots of illustrations, but some great information as well.

Maybe you can finagle a volunteer/internship type thing at a local animal shelter or such. (Thats not really gifty though)

By that age my DDs were abe to take care of a nice charm bracelet and I add charms to represent the big things in their lives. Maybe give her charms that represent those interests. Do you have a J Spencer? If not, I believe you can order from their website.

How about a nice art set for fashion design. I would contact a local art supply store for suggestions or a local design school.

One of the best gifts my family ever got me was a large white box fill to the brim with art supplies. all kinds of paper, markers, crayons, penciles. I loved to create as a kid, I still do (fine arts major in college) and it was just the perfect gift.

I was going to post about this! My dd's (and I) have spent hours making these girls. You get to choose...a head/hairstyle, then body with tons of clothes choices, and shoes. There are also patterns to trace to make fancier clothes designs.
