I am going shopping tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has a good gift idea for a two year old boy. What do your kids play with the most? He loves cars, trains and trucks but he already has so many of them. I want something that he can be creative with that does not take batteries or require a plug. His birthday is not for another month but if there is something really good out there that I need to order on the internet I should order it soon.

We started a collection of Thomas Trains at about 2 for my son. He played with them for years, we passed them down to my sister's son and then they came back to DD. Each child added to the box! They are little wooden trains that can go on track or just on the floor. There are also videos about Thomas.

I bought my little boy (he turned two in December) for Valentine's Day- the playskool wheel pals triple tower playset. It's on their website. He has played with it everyday since and has loved it. We have so many cars, trucks, and things with wheels around here, but he loves them and the tower has really kept him busy. He also loves the Color Wonder sets, anything to do with dinosaurs, the rescue heros action figures, and anything that he can play with looks like Dad's toys (a toy remote, cell phone, beeper, etc..). Hope this helps. :)

When I read the title of your thread, my first thought was, "THOMAS the TANK ENGINE ANYHTING".

Then I saw that you stated he already has trains.

When DS was 2 that is ALL he played with. We had the THOMAS train table right in the living room....& every train engine, car, building, & track piece available to all mankind.

If it wasn't Thomas, then he did not play with it.

Maybe there are a few engines this boy doesn't have?
We also had the Thomas suitcase to carry all of the trains in.

this may sound strange but my nephew loved when i bought him a carry on bag with wheels so he can take all his toys with him when he comes to visit..get one with a thomas the tank design...thats a great age!

1) Bath toys, bath paints (which they love and can be creative if you find letters, numbers, etc. that will stick to the sides of the tub)

2) Music- Raffi CD or another children's artist- to listen to in the car

3) The books that have the electronic sounds on the side that matches the pictures found in the book

4) coupons to go to a local children's museum or play place

5) Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc. to do in the upcoming warmer months

6) Play tools and a tool belt (to be like Daddy, if he is this type of person)

7) videos- Thomas Tank, Wiggles, etc.

Just a few suggestions- hope they help :teeth:

Aquadoodle!!!

Or, you can even get him the Thomas one

We have both of these, plus the travel one, the flip & doodle, some of the mini mats....Needless to say, both my boys (2 & 4) love the Aquadoodle products. And, since there's no mess, so do I!

Mr. Potato Head sets are my standard two-year old gifts.

My son just turned 5 and still plays with his.

Lori P. :)

My DS will be 3 in May. He loves geotrax, spiderman and friends action figures, tunnel that he can crawl through, Mr Potato Head, he loves to dance to Disney Mania CD's, playdough, and playing dress up.

DS#1 at 2 would only play with the Thomas trains. Didn't matter what you bought him, if it wasn't Thomas forget it. It was a waste of money. This was from 15 months to 3 1/2 years old.

DS#2 is 24 months now. He likes Thomas. He also adores playing with his brothers Dinosaurs, with his brother. He also likes the Galatic Heros Star Wars figures, but again influenced by his older brother. On his own, he likes Lego Duplo blocks and the Mega Blocks. Mr. Potato Head is his favorite. The doctor kit is getting some major use. He is also enjoying what the baby received for Christmas--those balls by fisher prices that are like the peek-a-blocks (another toy he loves) that have a bug and a dinosaur and the playskool pop up activity ball game. Oh, and the aquadoodle mat!! Crayons & coloring books period--crayola twist crayons (the small ones) are great and so are the color wonder stuff.

Other things that are good at that age are dress up clothes (boy orienated, cop, fire fighter, army, doctor, astronut, etc). Anything for playing outside--bubble guns/auto bubble blowers, sidewalk chalk and/or paint, scooter, trike, and water table (step 2 makes a great one).

He has a five year old brother who has the whole thomas set in his room. This the his favorite toy he plays with it everyday.
Thank you to everyone for your ideas so far I will be looking for them at Toys R Us tomorrow.

My kids loved the Little People. The Noah's Ark was a favorite for both of them around that time since they come with, of course, two of each animal. No batteries required!
