Gift idea for niece's boyfriend

We are celebrating Christmas with my family the day after Thanksgiving. (We live far away and will only be home for the long Thanksgiving weekend). I just found out that my niece's boyfriend will be there with us and I don't want to make him feel left out and would like to get him a little something ($10ish). I don't know this guy so I am clueless. My niece is in her 2nd year of college and I assume this guy is too, any thoughts would be appreciated.

How about one of those M&M dispensers? My SIL got those one year for the SO's of the older nieces & nephews.

I'm sure the gift cards would be appreciated. I was always broke while in college. Aren't most kids?

You know, a tin of homemade cookies might also be a good idea.

I'd go with cookies or candy with a Best Buy gift card or Target givt card.

Trust me, I have a 20 yo and 23 yo.

My nieces and nephews always like GC the best when they are/were in college.

if you do get gift cards make sure that they have the stores in the area to use them. We found out the hard way that all gift cards cannot be used on line and we have had a hard time using cards before for places that were not in our area. The m&m gifts are cute (my kids have gotten them before) and I know Target has them. Another cute idea is the large pop bottle banks with some change in them. We did this last year for college age girls or fast food gift certificates are always welcome.

Gift Cards to places where DVDs can be purchased are always a good bet with guys.

Also, what about gift certs to pizza/fast food/dunkin donuts?

gr8tpanther is right. I've seen them in WalMart every holiday season for the past couple of years. They're pretty reasonable too.

I was worried about this too, that is why I want to stay away from the gift card factor. And I don't want to ask my niece because I don't want her to know we are picking anything up for her DBF.

With the gift cards, you can do a store locater for the friends local area.

I do this for my son who is in MI.

Ask the niece's mother/father what the boy does--college or work and where. Then you would be able to locate stores--WalMart, Target, Best Buy, etc for gift cards. That is probably your safest bet as he can buy what he wants.

1. Get a six pack of the little Cokes that come in the glass bottles
2. Remove two or three of the bottles
3. Stuff empty holes in carton with movie type candy, Milk Duds, Twizzles, microwave popcorn, etc.
4. Add a gift cert for Blockbuster or other movie rental place
5. Wrap the whole thing up in cellophane wrap

Instant date in a box! Everyone I have made this for has loved it.
It can be done pretty cheaply and it is more something to open than just a gift cert in an envelope.

briannesmom what a great idea. This is a good thing to have on hand for the spur of the moment gifts too. I'm going to use this one for a few of my dd's friends that are boys. Whenever she goes to a little boys birthday party, I never know what to get them, as I have 3 dd's. Thanks for the idea....
