Any suggestions for Xmas gifts for DHs parents who seem to have 2 of everything!? I thought I had it all figured out when I decided to get them a new Cuisinart 4 slot toaster, then they went out and bought one themselves! :guilty: We did Omaha Steaks for Father's Day, and they don't use restaurant gift certificates people buy them .

I really need help here, so any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

We just got our annual Shutterfly photo book in the mail. If you have the time and have digital photos it is a really great gift for grandparents. Our book this year is 40 pages with custom layouts and captions - around 200 photos. It is fully bound hardcover with a suede cover and the images reproduce really well. They are priced by the page and ours this year was $50 with free shipping. We get one for each set of grandparents, for great-grammie and one for me (oops - I mean us!) They really love them:love: and I set the pictures up chronologically. With young kids (DD3 and DS1) the progression is really cool to see!

It was either this or get the in laws slippers and a can of cashews! :p

Do they have anything older that needs replaced? My parents live very comfortably and have everything it seems. I never have ANY idea what to get them. But when we went to wdw in october we realized that the suitcase my dad was using was 25 years old!! One of those brown pleather ones. The others in the set had worn out, and they had all be replaced one peice at a time, with nicer luggage, but NO WHEELS. With my moms health she doesnt lift anymore, so my dad had to carry 2 suitcases and 2 carryons. It was NUTS. He insisted that there was nothing wrong with what they had. I think he was impressed by our luggage though; wheels and all the peices can lock together. :rotfl: So that is what we got them this year.

Think about those types of things, anything that is not used daily or things they wouldnt get on an impulse buy that they may need replacing. Any other kitchen appliances or tupperware? Mom has lots of new tupperware but some old orange stuff still too. Blankets? Most people have plenty but some have usually seen better days.

lawn service or house cleaning is alway nice

Gift certificates to their favorite restaurant, gift certificates to favorite coffee place they may go to (starbucks etc). Everyone loves eating out sometimes!!!

Gift Certificates or Memberships to places like zoos & museums are my favorite gifts to give. Or tickets to a show or concert that they would enjoy?

We make a fmaily picture calender every year. My son draws pictures(mostly trains) then I add photos of the kids through out the year. Then I put on the anniversary and birthday of Everyone in the family. I think that there are almost 40 of us. Give or take a few. Who knows which cousin is pregnant now.. :)
But Great grandma loves that..

Or else I get my 90 year old Great aunt stockings. One year all she wanted was nylons. She would always ask for them and no one ever got them for her... Except me!

We try to get creative..
Or heck. Donate to your kids charity of choice in their name and have them make a card to go with it..

HTH!
