Gift Cards on ship

Hi! This is probably a dumb question, but has anyone had any issues adding disney gift cards to their onboard account when sailing from a foreign port? We will be on the Med June 30th sailing, and I was wondering if embarking and disembarking in Europe would affect currency and gift cards on board.

I was also thinking of adding funds to my Onboard account prior to sailing. If I do this, will Disney send me a receipt or some kind of acknowledgment that these funds are actually credited to our account?

I cannot speak to Europe. But when we sailed from Vancouver our gift cards were added to our account in American dollars, not Canadian dollars. All of our shipboard transactions were also in American dollars. I feel very sure that the same would be true in Europe.

You can add funds in a couple of ways. You can call Disney directly and have them charge your credit card or debit card ahead of time. You could also use the gifts and amenities form and fax that in. Your receipt will be when you see the amount applied to whichever account you used, either credit or debit.

The ship charges everything in US Dollars, no matter where they sail from. You will have no problem adding gift cards to your onboard account when boarding in Barcelona.
