Gift Cards - Can I Pay For Most of My Trip?

At the risk of sounding like a complete wack-a-doo, I'm going to pose a question about paying for one's trip with Disney Gift Cards. Is this possible? Or at least a portion - say dining or tickets?

We just started working with a travel agent and I was looking for ways to save money. My primary grocery store sells Disney Gifts Cards. You can earn 10 cents off per gallon of gas for every $50 you spend on gift cards.

I wasn't sure if I booked through disney.com if I could pay with gift cards. Or if I did use the agent if I could purchase my dining and tickets later with the gift cards.

Has anyone done this? Thanks so much!

Heck to the yeah : ) We used 100% GC for our trip last December. Target had a $10 off $50 purchase at the time...so 20% off ; ) Know that the Kroger rewards DO expire, so don't buy more than you can use (look at how often you refill your tank). With the Target Red card, you get 5% off all purchases, and an additional 5% with a pharmacy benefit.

We just called the normal Disney ressie number and applied the GC to our trip prior to leaving...I didn't want to drag the GC with us to pay for the room (free tickets thanks to family member CM walking us in). Has to be booked through Disney. There is an automated way to enter the #s so you aren't tying up a CM entering numbers.

Just got back from a trip with DGS. Paid for tickets and food with gift cards. We're DVC members so didn't need them for the room. Best way to save for Disney that I have found thanks to the DIS board.

I also bought gift cards through Target to pay for our trip. There's a stack of 60 of them on my desk that I used to pay for our package! (Yes, I entered them in one by one.) We'll also be taking gift cards to pay for our souveniers and tips.

I don't know if you can use gift cards with *your* travel agent but I do know that when I was looking at rebooking our trip through AAA the agent told me I could still use the gift cards to pay for the trip.
