Gift cards and checking in

Good Morning

I am trying to check in online but it won't let me without putting my credit card down. I don't want to use our credit card since we have purchased large gift cards that will pay for all of our trip expenses. I was hoping to go to the front desk mid week and the last day when we check out to pay off any expenses. If I put my cc card down right now, will they automatically charge it or can I just tell them to wait until the last day? Can I check in online and then go to the front the first day when we have the time and hand them a gift card to use? Don't know what to do to ensure they don't charge my cc since I have such a large amount of gift cards for all of our food and souveniers.

We have only ever had "room only" reservations but we usually call Disney to apply our gift cards to clear the balance prior to checking in online. That way we are sure the card put down wouldn't be charged anything unless we used our MB to purchase something while we were there.

Ok. We are using our magic bands to pay for all of our meals and souveniers for the trip but then hoping to pay off our balance with gift cards. So I was hoping they wouldn't charge as we go but give us a bill to pay for the end of the trip.

You have to use a credit card if you want to do online check in. If you only want to use gift cards, you'll have to check in at the front desk on arrival.

You need a credit card to charge to the room, then you can stop by the front desk and apply the gift cards to the balance every few days.

Here is what we do. I pay off our reservation before we check-in by calling in and paying it with our GCs, we use disneygiftcard site to combine a bunch of GCs into 1 or 2 GCs so it is easier on us and the CM If you want to do online check-in you will need to give a CC but if you payoff your reservation before you check-in then nothing (except the new hold) will be charged against your CC. I then stop at the front desk every 2-3 days during our trip, and the night before checking out, to payoff any room charges that we have using our GCs. This way nothing is permanently charged against my CC. Also; just in case they do charge something, you can go to the front desk and have them reverse the charge so you can pay it using GCs. I hope this helps. BTW; I also get a printout of the room charges every time I pay it off so I can do a quick check.
