My teen is traveling to Disney world with another family this week, I've bought 2 gift cards, registered them and consolidated the balance. I was going to send the empty one as an emergency in case he loses the one with the balance, but the website says I need the original purchase receipt to transfer the balance after I report it lost? I do not have the receipt any longer so I am out of luck if this happens?

My target is completely out of physical gift cards for some reason, so could I purchase an egift card and transfer that to the physical card? I'm trying to avoid him having to carry around cash.

Thanks!

If he loses the gc that has the balance, immediately transfer the balance to Card#2.

Then, the lost card will have a -0- balance.

Is he responsible enough to know if he loses the card? Have him text you as soon as he knows he lost it.

You'd need the receipt to have a cast member transfer the balance from the lost card to a new card. With you doing it yourself through the website with registered cards, you don't need the receipt. As hiroMYhero said, you'd just transfer the balance back over to the other card so the lost one has the $0 balance.

I'm sure he would text me, so I guess without the original receipt I would have to transfer the balance then report it lost? I'm probably worrying about nothing but want to be prepared.

You don’t need to call to report it lost if it has a -0- balance after the transfer.

I would send him with 2 cards with 1/2 the total amount on each card. Number them with a Sharpie #1 and #2. If he loses a card, immediately transfer the balance to the correct card that’s still in his possession.

That way, if he doesn’t realize he’s lost a card, it won’t be a total loss.
