Gift Card Question

So our balance was due two days ago for our trip in January, and we paid with our Disney Visa. Well today my family very generously gave us $450 of Disney giftcards for Christmas. My travel agent said they would call Disney tomorrow, but does anyone have any personal experience with Disney refunding part of what you’ve paid so we can use the gift cards towards our trip? We got a package with dining so it’s making me sick thinking we won’t get to put it towards our trip. Thanks for any experience!!

In my experience they won’t refund it. All you can do is cancel the whole trip
or a portion & rebook. For instance, cancel the dining plan tomorrow so that it goes back to your original form of payment & rebook & pay that portion with your gift card. Could you use it for spending $? Tips won’t be covered by dining plan so depending on where you are booked that could be a few hundred.

Ugh, that’s what I’m worried about. We have a play, stay, dine deal so would they let me cancel dining and then reapply it? We’re only doing quick service so I don’t think tips will be that much and there is no way we’re spending that on souvenirs....

Use it to splurge on a few TS meals to supplement the QS.

Are you planning to go back to Disney in the future? You could apply the money to a later trip.

Okay, the Travel agent called and Disney was nice enough to refund that portion and use the giftcard! Yayyy!!!!!
