Gift card question?

So I have a question, we are planning on getting a gift card for $1,500. That would have been the price of the dining plan for our family of five. We want to use this solely to pay for our meals and snacks. The question is, if we use it to pay for our meal and add a tip on the receipt at the end, when we check our balance will it show only the amount of the meal taken off or the amount of the meal plus the tip taken off? My husband wants to carry cash to pay all the tips because he says they will not take the tips off of the gift card balance right away. I would rather keep all food expenses on the gift card including tips.

There is an app you can put them all in to track them. I will see if I can find it.

Also i would get $50 gift cards from target. Yes it's a lot of gift cards but you get 5% off with a red card. Also it will help track as you will keep having more cards with $0.

Are you staying on property and if so have you considered having the gift card applied to your account when you arrive at the resort then just charging your meals to the room? When they charge to your room all the charges are there immediately. Although I don't see why there would be a delay in taking tips off with a gift card either. They bring the check, you fill in the tip and give them the card, they run the card for the full amount. The server won't get paid that night if they don't charge it.

I'm skipping DDP and doing gift cards this time. Although I've been collecting $50 ones each time I buy my groceries at Target.

1) So, yes I'm right about the balance being taken off all at once!

We do not want to charge anything to the room as we would have to stop at the desk to check our balance. Checking a gift card is a bit easier for us to manage on our own.

No, not a waitress, just a hostess with the mostest! Thanks for the article....I will make my hubby happy and do it his way. I just need a reason for my brain to understand things.

Now if you could tell me why they won't let Cast members link their Silver Pass to a magic band I would be very happy! Not looking like we will be getting any fast passes. I guess we get left overs but I can't complain! Just happy to be going to WDW for the first time ever!! I think we are more excited than the kids!

If you get the free Disney Gift Card app, you can enter in your card, and it will keep a running total of your balance. Much easier than having to call and check the balance.
