Gift card delivery

About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I ordered a gift card from one of the shopping channels for someone who loves to do tv shopping. It was supposed to be delivered late last week at the latest.
Today, I decided to call and check on the card and found out that it is just now being shipped and the company can't guarantee that I will receive it by Christmas even though they are advertising that anything purchased by today will have guaranteed delivery by Christmas. Now, why advertise that when they can't get something ordered a while back delivered by the holiday?
Anyway, I guess I will head out and get another gift card from a mall store to use just in case the other one doesn't arrive.

Did you read the fine print and does it include gift cards? If so, I would call back and talk to someone else and let them know that you were supposed to get this card last week and since they "guarantee" by Christmas they better overnight you the card.

If it's QVC they would overnight it.

I tried that, but they claimed that now that the card is
in transit' they can't do anything. It's frustrating since the card is for an older person who doesn't get around well. I know the mall card will be appreciated, but this woman does a lot of tv shopping because it is easier for her. Frustrating! I really thought a gift card would be a simple order.

Another thought- why not just print out a certificate stating the amount you got and for what shopping channel- saying it will arrive any day now.
Fingers crossed that it gets there. I know the storm screwed a lot of delivery stuff up. I'm missing something as well.

Well, if it is in transit there isn't anything you can do. If you don't get it by Christmas I would call back and explain that you ordered the card with plenty of shipping time and didn't get the card by Christmas-with the promise that it would be there and just tell them how unhappy you are with their service.

As for giving the gift, I would stick with the original plan and just tell whom ever is getting the gift that the card got held up in transit and you will get it to her ASAP.

Actually, it was QVC. I think I may just pick up the mall card just in case and plan to take her on a little shopping excursion. If the other card arrives in time, I can use the mall card for another gift for my DD or DDIL a little later on. I always add a gift card to their birthday gifts so it wouldn't be unused. I was so happy that I had all my store shopping done and wouldn't have to face the mall again.
