Gift Baskets at the Resorts

Has anyone ever gotten any of the baskets that the resort hotels offer. I had vacation planning send me a list of baskets available with prices & they seem a bit high. So just wondering if they are worth it? It would be fun to surprise my hubby with a gift basket waiting for him when we checked in. They also have some gifts & treats available thru room service (which again seems pretty high priced).....so any inside information on these???
Would love any input on this..... Thanx bunches!!

I ordered a small basket for my SIL when we went to WDW back in 2004. Her b-day landed during our trip, so I had a basket waiting in her room when they checked in. I can't remember specifically which one I ordered but it wasn't a huge one. I don't think I paid more than $35-$40 for it.......it was expensive for what I got but I considered it part of her birthday present.

When we went to DL in 2006 we stayed at the DL Hotel. I checked into getting some treats delivered to the room like the Mickey shaped rice krispies and the shortbread cookies. I think you could order a few of them (can't remember how many) with a carafe of milk and it was outrageously expensive. We had a large group and in order for there to be 1 ttreat for everyone, I would have spent a fortune. I asked the CM if I could order the treats separately and he said yes! So I ordered 6 rice krispies and 6 shortbread cookies a la carte. I think they were about $2.00 each? So it came to around $24 for 12 treats, which was much cheaper than ordering them with the milk. I had them waiting in our room when we got back from dinner and on our way back to the room, I stopped by Compass Books in DTD and just bought a few individual milks to drink.

The kids and the adults were all excited to see that Mickey had delivered some treats to our room! Oh and the rice krispies and cookies were quite big too! On both, the ears were dipped in chocolate! Yummy!!!!

What a great idea, firefly87! Personally, I think the baskets are a little expensive, however, you're paying for the service to set them up in your room.

I've ordered things for guests from room service. I have ordered a cheese/cracker/fruit tray, or milk & cookies to be delivered to their room.

Sometimes, the front desk can have things like balloons delivered, or a little packet, but when I stayed at one of the hotels a couple of years ago, nothing I requested was in the room for my two nephews who were celebrating their birthdays. Of course, they didn't know better, and were delighted we were staying at the parks, but I considered it a lesson learned not to expect anything that I do not pay for.

Thank you for the inside scoop!! I saw the prices for the rice krispy treats with milk ($18) but then it also listed a $2.00 delivery chg, taxes & 19% service fee which I think puts it at about $26.....OUCH
The baskets seem to come with quite a bit in them, but they didn't totally itemize what you got, so it's hard for me to visualize. I know part of the cost is them putting them together & setting it up, but I don't want to pay $75 for a basket & get $20 of stuff.
Still contemplating what to do here!!

Now that I think about it, the night that the treats were delivered, we had gone to RFC for dinner and they messed up one of our orders. So to compensate, they gave us a free volcano dessert! I knew we were going to have dessert waiting for us back at the room so it was hard not to pig out on the chocolate volcano!! Plus I didn't want to spoil the surprise so I didn't tell anyone either. Turns out we all had BOTH desserts!

I did the California Cooler Pack for my Husband to kick off his 30th birthday weekend in January.
Yes, of course it was expensive and overpriced for what you actually get but it was truly 100% worth it in my eyes for his special birthday trip! He STILL talks about it, and I think the photo says it all - he was thrilled to find it in our hotel room upon arrival! He couldn't believe it!!
Plus we love that we have a disney lunch kit now - DH takes it to work and it reminds him of that special vacation

I've done a few of the baskets/stockings/trees/etc.

Are any of them a good value when you consider the actual cost of the items that are included? no, absolutley not.

Are they worth it in order to create this wonderful memory for your loved one? yes, imo...as evidenced by that I've ordered things through Vacation Planning several times and will continue to do so.

I had done this for my 21 year old daughter one of times we were at Paradise Pier. It was a beautiful basket. It had stuffed Minnie & Mickey, Mouse ears, food, autograph book & pen,etc. It was very fun & festive! I was surprised on how much stuff was in it!! Both her & I loved it! When we go now I think "what kind of basket could I get this time & for who". I recommend doing something different everytime you go! Makes it fun!
