We're surprising our 2 boys - 8 and just turned 13 with their trip to WDW. They won't find out where they're going until we get to the ME counter at MCO.

I would like to start putting together some gift bags for them to give them after they get their surprise.

Any ideas? At the Disney store, I picked up a t-shirt for each of them, sunglasses for the 8 yr old, a Pirates of the Caribbean beach ball they can use at the pool (don't know which kid will get that yet), and some pool toy that's a ball that is good for a pool.

You could put in some disney dollars. At the Disney store or by faxing Disney you can buy Disney dollars. They look like regular money, but have Disney characters in the middle. They can can be used at the parks and resorts.

My boys love the glow sticks. You can get them many places for a dollar. Have they tried the pin trading? You could get some lanyards and trading pins to trade with CMs.

I had a couple more ideas:) A few postcards to send home, disposable cameras or memory cards for digital, songs for their Ipods, Disney guidebooks, hats, sunscreen. What a fun trip you are going to have! They will be so excited.

I bet they'd love some prepaid cards for the video arcades there.

If you know anyone going before your trip, you could give them $20.00 (or whatever amount you wish) & ask them to get the boys two prepaid cards for the arcades. I believe that all the cards work in any of the resort arcades. The cards are even WDW themed. We still have one with Stitch on it that still has a balance on it. I've got to remember to pack that. We check-in to AKV on Sunday, & then move over to BCV the next day!!

Thank you for all the great ideas!!!! Now, I really look forward to putting together something for them. It's going to be a very magical trip and they really deserve their special surprise.

My parents are taking us to disney in august (19 days from now!!!) and she assigned me gift baskets. She found these baskets on sale at walmart and I bought mickeys and a lightning mcqueen pillow and some other sports related things to put in it. Im gonna get candy for them too. they are nice.

This post reminded me:

FYI your room key card also can be used at the arcades if it has charging privileges. If you feel comfortable leaving your kids alone in the arcade for short periods of time then you might want to make sure their cards don't have charging rights on them. We didn't give our two nephews (10 & 14) any charging privileges on our last trip but that didn't prevent the 14yr old from trying anyway (dh was heading back from the pool and caught him trying it, got a good chuckle too since he knew it wouldn't work, lol).

I don't think I'm quite ready to give them charging privileges yet. I'm just afraid they're going to put it down somewhere and forget it.

I just thought of something else I can add in their bags - clean pennies and quarters for more pressed pennies. Our 8 yr old really enjoyed collecting those last time.

About pin trading - I don't know much about it. Where is a good place to buy a few things ahead of time? And, does anyone know - are the pins traded on DCL cruises?
