Ghosts.....this is going to sound nuts but please help!!!

I actually have a lot of experience with this stuff, and being from my area, it is not unheard of!

I grew up in a haunted house, my Dad still lives there. :) We did some remodeling before we moved in but not much, things like new carpets and putting up wall panels, my Dad installed a new wood burning stove and things like that. Well I can tell you that with 100% certainty that every time my ghost talked to me I remembered what she said. I can't (and couldn't then either) remember the sound of her voice, only that it was feminine but I do know what she said and I do know that she touched me more then once. I used to have horrible horrible horrible dreams, so very vivid and so very scary, I would compare them to night terrors but I was well above the age that I should have had those and I did not have any history of having nightmares of this caliber, they didn't start until we moved into this house. My room was the Lady's room, she and her DH had lived in the house for years and years, when he passed she stayed as long as she could but eventually she was put in a home. Her children didn't sell the house until she passes and my parents bought it. It was built in the 1890's and is a beautiful old home, 2 stories with a balcony upstairs outside my parents room. My sister and I slept downstairs, we each had our own rooms. Well I would have these horrible nightmares and wake up crying and sweating and feeling scared out of my mind and I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. One night after a nightmare I felt a feather light touch on my forehead, I heard a voice say "sssshhhh, it's all right. No one will hurt you, I'm here with you alway" and I felt so much better. I stopped crying and fell back to sleep and slept a wonderful dreamless sleep until it was time to get up the next morning. A couple nights later I had the dream again, the same thing happened. This time I opened my eyes and a pretty lady in a period gown was "sitting" on the edge of my bed, she touched my forehead and told me all would be well and to go back to sleep, she smiled at me and I went back to sleep. This continued until I moved out of that house. I told my Mom who believed me, I told my Dad who laughed at me, years later my Dad asked me again because he'd been experiencing things there and wondered what I had to say. He said he still didn't believe but strange things happened after he moved into my room downstairs. There were so many things that happened there...we would all be downstairs and hear a ball bouncing upstairs, Dad would yell at my little brother and/or sister (they slept upstairs) and they'd say "we are right here Dad". lol Things would be moved, misplaced, etc etc.....I absolutely 100% believe in the paranormal. :)

OP I always remembered what my Lady said, I would be concerned because you can't. I would call for help from a paranormal group, TAPS comes to mind, if they can't or won't help then maybe they can direct you to someone who can. :) Good luck!

Agreed. People want to believe some random noise, reflection etc is supernatural so they will do anything.

There is nothing out there folks. No ghosts, no goblins and nothing that goes bump in the night..

I am sure people will come up with all the "facts" yet there are no facts. Not one thing proven and tons that are shown as fake, false or wrong.
I'll just say that I respect your opinion but I don't agree. I see no need to provide facts proving my assertion any more than I expect you to prove that it's all nothing.

I too jokingly (I hope! ;) ) think our house is haunted.

Long story short, it all started after we changed the light fixture that hangs over our kitchen sink. The woman who sold us the house commented on how much her father LOVED that lighting fixture (he had bought it for her). He died (although not in OUR house) three days or so before our closing.

I think he's mad and "visits" us occasionally. Since that day, this house makes the strangest, out of place, unidentifiable noises.

I am sure that it is ally imagination and typical "house noises", but I still wonder if it could be that man...

Aren't you thinking about now how nice that vintage light fixture would look put back over your kitchen sink? ;)

.....and I'll never remodel, ever. Nine out of ten times, on those ghost shows, they start with - everything was fine until we decided to (remodel the bathroom, knock out a wall, change the kitchen cabinets).

I don't care if I moved into a house with a green toilet... it's staying. :rolleyes1

Well that's just great... We're actually considering purchasing a house that will have to be completely remodeled (probably gutted for the most part :scared:), and I think the owner died there.

Now that I think about it, I really don't like the house anyway! :rotfl2:

Hahahahaha!

BTW, this is off topic, but do you remember the dog we discussed about a year and a half ago? You tried to talk your husband into letting you have her. I just wanted to let you know that she wound up staying with my daughter and her husband. She came with a collar that had the name "Rage" on it, but her name is Daisy now. She has done extremely well with the two other dogs they adopted and is very much a sweet tempered animal. She has some scars so is ugly as they come, but she's so ugly that she's cute. :) She's worked out fine. :thumbsup2

dd23 has seen the black figures several times. She has reached out to touch them and they disappeared. She ran into my bedroom scared afterwards. We also have a dark grey cat ghost that we see on occasion. Ghosts are nothing new to us as we have dealt with them in several houses. I think we are just more 'in tune' with them than alot of folks.

YES! Oh Good!!!!! That's wonderful!!! :yay:

I like "Daisy" much, much better. I'll never understand these 'hostile' names, people name their dogs. Rage.

She's very much a "Daisy"! My son-in-law teaches high school and has to deal with the dreaded yard rollers every Halloween ;). He begs Daisy to growl or bark or something :rolleyes1, but all she does is wag her tail! :rotfl2:

Back to your regularly scheduled thread now. :)

Yes!! However, I lost trick or treaters, with them just sitting in the window eyeballing people. :confused3

Horrible watch dogs - aren't they?? I've said a million times, if someone broke into our house, they'd be in for a big surprise when they turned the corner and saw who was sitting on the couch, just looking at them.

Trying to tie this into the thread - neither Charley nor Hazel has spotted a ghost in our house. ;)

Or maybe they're just not sayin'...;)

Or maybe they're too scared!!!:eek::eek:

Love reading this stuff here..:)

Anyone else? :goodvibes

I'll tell my ghost story.. maybe I do need a shrink but its not because of the ghosts!

Before we bought our house we lived in an apt that was an OLD school house. We had the only children who lived there(at that time only the girls) and would hear kids laughing and giggling from time to time at night.. We'd think it was them only to go into their room to find them asleep.. they were too young to play "sleep". It really started to pick up when we were talking about buying a house and moving out.. well one day I was watching some ghost show that said you can invite ghosts along if you move.. I figured they were going to miss the girls so yes I inivited our fake children along. We'd hear them from time to time when we first moved in but nothing lately.

ETA it was not only me hearing them but dh at the same time too... I have many many more but I'll just leave it at that

I really hate to be a medical nanny, but you may want to pay a visit to a Psychiatrist. Auditory hallucinations are often a sign of Dopamine imbalance, as are visual hallucinations and "feelings". Psychotic illnesses strike 1.1% of the general populace and are nothing to be ashamed of. I should know... I belong to that group.
