I am here now, and as long as you have a magic band attached to your profile, you can get FP+. I am doing a split stay, first at bonnet creek, then to beach club. I have my MB because the BC is a testing resort, but I have been able to use the MB to enter the park, charge things, and make FP+ reservations at the in park kiosks, and I haven't even stepped foot in the BC. You can't use the mobile site, but you can make and change reservations at any in park kiosk. It had been no problem getting reservations the morning of and changing reservations on the fly. So far there is plenty of availability.

How is it a ghost reservation if you are actually staying at a testing resort during your trip? Did you have a cancelled reservation somewhere else at the beginning or something?

thanks for posting this. We'll be there mid-Oct, first at WL, which isn't testing when I'm there, then to BW, which is testing and I've already received my MB and reserved my FP+'s.

I wasn't planning on even trying to use the MB or the FP+ kiosks our first 2 days in MK (when we're staying at WL), but I'll try now and see what happens.

I am guessing they are using the FP+ before/after they are actually at the testing resort.

Where is the Disney policy on ghost ressies? We are booked at a value and I plan on checking in and out. I just don't plan on using the room :lmao:

People do it all the time at Universal. As long as I pay for the room and check in and out appropriately-it's none of their business if we use the room or not. I paid for something....and I am entitled to use the benefits (room, dining, EMH, MBs, parking) as I see fit.

If these FP+ are dolled out so that offsiters are not on the same playing field like with FP- they will find many more of us booking ghost ressies just like at Universal.

Do people really do this? You would pay for something and not use it?

how can you charge if you don't have a resort account to charge it to and a PIN setup when you checked in :confused3:

How is that a ghost reservation? You're paying for the room whether you sleep in it or not. Wouldn't a ghost reservation be making a reservation and booking your ADRs and FP+ and whatever else and then cancelling the reservation and keeping all the perks you booked? I don't even know if that would work or if everything gets cancelled once the reservation is cancelled.

Absolutely! Let's do some math.
Room for 1 night at AS Sports was 87bucks and that includes taxes.

I can immediately take off $30 for parking fees. So now my cost is 57 bucks.

Say I stay offsite. I have no access to BoG FP. So I will likely need to wait about an hour given current Diser responses for lunch with my whining crying 2yo. How much is that hour worth to you?

I have access to MBs onsite which allows me to prebook FPs without having to worry about what my return times will be and having to deal with the icky fast pass runner thing that so many families do. ....How much is not having to wake up at dawn for a TSM FP worth to you??

I could go on...but I think you get the point. 57 bucks for 2 days of access to EMH, MBs, BoG ...is that worth around 25 bucks a day? For some- maybe, for some maybe not. It's totally worth it for me!

And it's not just for 'rich' people either. Bonnet Creek 2 bedroom 2 bathroom is running us 125 with taxes per night and includes free parking. A value room runs 87 per night for our dates and 2 nights gives at 87 bucks gives us 3 days of free parking plus all of the included onsite benefits. Add it all up and compare to what people pay to stay in a 'box' at the grand floridian for 400 a night in a hotel room. NO thanks. Ghost ressie it is! Best of both worlds. People have been doing this at Universal for years and I am betting it will become more common at DW.

No, that math doesn't add up. Now if you had free lodging somewhere but even with your math, no way that is worth the money.

And that isn't a ghost reservation, that is just spending money and internal rationalization.

Let's see...I get a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo within disney property (I have to drive under the magical sign to get to my condo at Bonnet Creek) and I have onsite priv.....all for under 200 bucks a night. I call it a DEAL!

It's all about what you think the $ is worth to you. In my world- time is $$ and even saving 2 hours a day in lines with a cranky kid is totally WORTH the $ to us.

You can link a credit card to your MDE account. The bands don't have anything stored on them, they simply link to your MDE account.

People have been booking rooms onsite at Universal to get two days of Express without staying in the room. (Even though I'd stay there personally, the hotels are gorgeous.) However, it sounds like the OP is getting FP+ well prior to check in date. Or am I misreading the post? If not, that is in no way what you can do at Universal.

To me this is just an extension of "book a night at the campground to get 180+10 and then cancel it"
