Ok, here's what happened yesterday.
DD8 was goofing off at the top of the basement stairs, dancing silly and stuff. I was on my way to the basement when I saw what she was doing. I immediatly yelled at her to stop it because not only was she acting like a fool, her shoe was untied.

I start walking down stairs and she's following me, but slowly because she's acting goofy again. I get to the bottom and look up, she's only about 1/3 of the way down the stairs because she's doing some kind of funky walk as he comes down the stairs

sad2: 8 year olds). I immediately yelled at her again because she was being dangerous and her shoe was STILL untied even after I told her to tie it.

Once she got to the bottom of the stairs I really gave her an ear full. At this point I'm at the bottom of the stairs and she has her back to the basement, like she is facing up the stairs. This is because I'm pointing up the stairs and yelling at her. I said 'DD, I'VE TOLD YOU BEFORE, MY GRANDPA DIED FROM FALLING DOWN THE STAIRS. HE FELL AND CRACKED HIS HEAD OPEN AND WE FOUND HIM RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM'
(POINTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS) Then at this point I grabbed her shoulders so I could really drive my point home to her. I said "I ALREADY FOUND ONE PERSON I LOVE DEAD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS BECAUSE THEY ACCIDENTLY FELL, I DON'T WANT TO FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!! Just as I said that the light behind DD went dim.
We have dimmer switches on our basement lights, the knob kind not the slider kind. Strangly enough, I was startled by it but not really scared. In my mind I immediately thought that may it was my Grandpa saying "Yeah, what she said."
DD didn't notice because the light was behind her. I didn't want to say anything because she'd be afraid of our house for the rest of her life.
I went up stairs and brought DH in the bedroom and told him so the kids couldn't hear. He immediately said, "I'd just chaulk it up to coincidence." He said this because he thought it was something like when the refrigerator kicks on the lights dims for a second in the kitchen. He said "but it got bright again right?" I explained to him that the light actually got dim, that the actual dimmer switch was turned. So he insisted I bring him down and show him with the light. I was in tears at this point, it freaked me out more than I originally thought it did. I brought him down and showed him, he said 'that is weird!' The knob was turned about 1/4 turn and there is some tension on the knobs, they couldn't just 'slip'.
He said maybe it was a sign from Grandma Clara (because she died in our home back in December). I told him that I thought it might have been my grandpa (like I said above). Who knows.

I was shook up about it after everything sunk in. I'm not afraid though, I'm not getting any scary vibes or anything in the house. I think whatever (or whoever) it was, it was friendly.
